Jose Herrera's Achievements

  1. I think Shelton had a say in this. If he is going to be around for a few seasons, he may have preferred building up our other pitchers.
  2. Between arbitration and this I feel for Joe. The worst part is that adding Hoffman was a great move, but we ended pitching Whitlock anyway.
  3. Aside from matchups, taking turns closing games will help lessen their workload. Given they are both former all-star closers, Hendriks and Rogers will be a great duo for now.
  4. I applaud our front office. I remember thinking in January we need left handed relief pitchers with high leverage experience. In less than a month we acquired Banda, Chafin and Rogers.
  5. Besides the Julien/Ohl trade, I’m pleased with all the signings and trades we have made this offseason. Until we build an international program that yields decent results, we should keep making moves like this.
  6. I wish this had happened earlier in the offseason. Terrible timing with spring training about to begin. Nonetheless, I wish Falvey well since he left us with decent coaches, contracts, facilities, players and prospects. I am excited for a new president and expect us to take our time selecting them. Hope they have experience and are given ample resources and time to build a great franchise.
  7. @Over The Hill Again He was drafted as a third baseman from University of Auburn and played 3b in low A ball for us. Was he qualified?
  8. @JD-TWINS Developing quality controllable players is difficult and those were two. You should look closer into their entire careers when you have a chance. You may need to realize this is not MLB the Show to understand where I’m coming from. -Sorry could not resist.
  9. I do not agree with this trade. I thought Julien and Wagaman playing 3b for us this season would have gone well. Ohl is great pitcher that just needs more major league outings to develop. We sold low on these two, should have given them at least one more season.
  10. An international draft would allow for more parity and structure. I do not blame us for not having much confidence in international free agency, but we need to do better since every year there is allotted bonus pool of money and notable prospects available. A strategy that would benefit us would be giving higher bonuses to blue chip prospects (1-2 players) or trading the bonus pool money to other teams for prospects already in their organizations. The return on blue chip prospects or the trades should make us better meanwhile we could work on finding out a better way to develop, integrate and scout more international players.
  11. Hooray, we needed a quality left handed relief pitcher. Thank you for choosing us Taylor and welcome back 😁
  12. For a prospect to develop they need to compete to win playing time against other players and teammates. The veterans on our active roster and that we have acquired are all quality players. Currently, trading all or some of them will hurt the development of Culpepper, Gonzalez, Jenkins, Klein and Morris. I doubt all of them are ready to replace the players corresponding to their positions on an MLB level but they are close. I would prefer to keep our veterans and transition gradually to our prospects.
  13. Excited to see them play. They will have time to develop together and make our affiliate clubs better.
  14. Right now we are building a stable foundation for the next generation of players to add to. We need veterans like Bell and Caratini to add to our current group to keep our organization competitive. Culpepper, Gonzalez, Jenkins, Klein and Morris will all be ready to be called up within two seasons. These prospects are expected to add value, not come in and rebuild our foundation.
