    I would rather trade Ober than Lopez or Ryan. I'm wary of a long limbed 6'10 pitcher who can't throw at least a 93 mph fastball. Now he has lost velocity from the 91 mph he used to have. Trade him now before any residual value evaporates.

    Drew McPhail recently said in an interview that the Twins view Prielipp as a top of the rotation starter. Given his injury history, I suspect the Twins focus will be on stretching him out. The Twins are likely moving one or more of Lopez, Ryan and Ober, so I expect there will be plenty of auditions for what will likely be a fluid rotation.

    Eddy Julien does not even belong on a AAA roster let alone the 40 man roster. He is a terrible fielder and a terrible hitter. The Twins cannot use him at DH or in the field. Put him through waivers. If someone claims him, wish him good luck and tell him not to let the door hit him on the way out.

    Every year Twins pundits try to determine the best potential free agents that will fit the Twins level of cheapness. I can almost picture them all putting money in a pool before they write their prognostications. The Twins approach to free agency makes me think of the Big Bang Theory episode when Howard lays out his strategy for meeting women in a bar..."First we let the lawyers and jocks thin the herd, and then we go after the weak and the old and the lame."

    These coaches do better away from the Twins because their new teams don't force them to make chicken salad out of chicken manure. Coaches will do well here when Sean Johnson and the amateur scouting department do a better job of drafting.

    I think the Twins have already sent up numerous signals that they won't compete.

    Ty France cannot outhit Cody Clemens. Clemens' OPS was 50 points higher than France's. He also out homered him 19 to 7 at a position that demands power. France hasn't been within 50 points of major league average OPS in 3 years. Even if France is better against lefties, that's 25% of major league pitchers. Don't get me wrong. Clemens is not the answer at first base, but please don't try to sell us France as a reasonable option.

    Christian Vazquez? Absolutely not! Over the term of his Twins contract, he was literally the worst hitter in baseball. He is old and now his calling card defense is eroding. You can't dismiss Pereda for not being a long term solution and then advocate for Vazquez. It's time to move on from Vazquez.

    The Twins are fully capable of dumpster diving for bullpen help without any suggestions.

    There is absolutely nothing in Shelton's yearly record To indicate that he is a manager who gets the most out of what he has. Pittsburgh has also seems to have a farm system like the Twins. A lot of promising young players who don't seem to pan out.

    You can make a case for command as a contributing factor in Ober's struggles last year. At the same time, you can't dismiss his lost velocity as a major factor as well. Even in 2024, Ober's fastball was almost 2 mph below league average. When Ober was throwing close to 92 in 2024, it played well with his height and wingspan, since his release was that much closer to the plate. Batters were often late on a below average fastball. He can't get that same effect at 90.4. My guess is that the velo and command are both tied to the hip labrum issue. At age 30, a profound velo drop shouldn't be expected without an underlying cause.

    The Twins are replacing Rocco with a guy they passed when they hired him in the first place. This is as uninspired a choice as I can imagine.
