  1. The term cornerstone comes from the days when a whole building was based on the laying of the first stone. Laying the cornerstone determined the lines for the rest of the building. It had to be perfect and straight. It had to be level and perfectly vertical. If we are using this term when discussing baseball teams, I get confused why people discuss cornerstones... There was only one cornerstone to a building. Puckett was the cornerstone of both World Series wins. Just him. There were other major pieces in place around him but he was The Cornerstone. Harmon Killebrew was the first cornerstone of the franchise and he was what laid the foundation for the Minnesota portion of the franchise. Everyone looks back yo him as THE standard. When we signed Mauers extension, he was THE cornerstone and the others were major pieces. I no longer believe he is the cornerstone of THIS group. The question is who will be
  2. First off, welcome aboard, we welcome all fans here.Yes, some of us most rabid fans follow all of the minors associated with the Twins I would say fans here are most interested in Berrios and Polanco. More so Berrios though.
  3. Which team is better, Gibson and Danny Santana or May and Tulo? This year and for the next 4 years, I would go with option 2. How would we rate the long term projectablity of May, Berrios, and Gibson? I would rank them in this order: Berrios-Long term top of the rotation starter (Probably a no. 2) May-Long term middle of the rotation, younger than Gibson, Higher K rate Gibson-Long term middle of the rotation older than May, lesser K rate They asked for Gibson, why further hurt our future by upping their request with Berrios? I DONT get that. This is a sell high on Gibson. Lets sell high for once. I dont know why so many on this site freak out on the sell high proposals one year then complain the next few years that we didn;t sell high when we had the chance (see Pelfrey discussion one month ago...)
  4. SMH, I really liked this trade at the time but this is the danger of trading for prospects. Maybe he will bloom late but I'm afraid the Nationals won this one and I hope we get at least a really good reliever eventually. On the other hand, I think we may be the winners with May! Who would thunk at that time? PS where is Vanimal now?
  5. .230 average against is nice, so how is he giving up that many runs? Is he giving up a lot of xbase hits?
  6. I believe the reason to pinch hit is to bring in a better bat than what you have going to the plate. This would eliminate most pinch hitting opportunities based on who is on the bench. Do you bring in someone to hit .200 when you have a .240 up to bat? That brings us to Nunez for Suzuki. While Suzuki has shown an overall weak bat, I thought I remembered reading somewhere on TD that his BA with runners on was dramatically higher and therefore a person to NOT pinch hit for late in the game with runners on in an important spot. No runners on, down by one 8th-9th inning, catcher on the bench? Maybe pinch hit for Suzuki with Nunez. Maybe pinch hit for Santana with Nunez but other than that I'd be rolling with the guys I have out there based on our current bench. Yeah, it needs improvement. Robinson is a pinch runner, not a pinch hitter and you also need one of those.
  7. this has all been covered elsewhere but signing Cody for less than slot because of the physical would have freed up bonus money to also sign others lower in the draft.Since we did not get him signed we get a compensation pick #74 next year and are done signing this year.
  8. Remembering that draft well, this makes me sad. I really hoped good things for Boer but considering the performance, it was time... Too many new draft picks and needed promotions to continue drawing this one out.
  9. So that's a wrap! Looks like our final list! So we signed more guys than we expected and considering the depth of our minors, I am surprised by that... The more you bring in, the more room you have to make sending people out. Can't wait to see the diamonds emerge from the rough in this draft.
  10. Buxton Mauer Dozier Sano Plouffe Hunter/Rosario Rosario/Hicks Suzuki Santana/Escobar
  11. I'll play your game... Danny Ortiz wants a chance and isnt getting it despite AAA numbers Wilken Ramirez knows his MLB days here are done James Beresford knows hes blocked by that guy with the sexy hair Lester Oliveros thinks he needs another chance and may have that elsewhere Any AAA starter not named Berrios knows they are needing a new location because Meyer will come back out of the bullpen eventually and they have no shot in Minnesota with all those other starter in front of them. (Disclaimer: all my statements here are my personal opinion of what they are thinking and in no way shows inside knowledge)
  12. Not getting too deep in Nit Picky, O'Rourke already with the Twins might suggest he is a little low on your rankings

  14. Just released, Kepler is having his shoulder amputated. Twins expect a full and quick recovery and are awaiting more tests before considering any DL moves. Still officially listed as day to day.
  15. Gilmartin was my Adopt A Prospect last year and someone I was disappointed about losing. While he was a high draft pick for a different team, he was not a highly regarded Twins prospect on TD. Not many complaints about losing him until he started killing it as an MLB reliever this year. Hind sight is 20/20.
  16. How about a Sano/Ploufe/Mauer platoon at DH....
  17. A little Birdy says Anaheim is offering the shark 5 years/90 million while the Twins are only offering 3/45. Looks like he'll walk, er swim, away
  18. I think it was more of a retool than a rebuild but that is semantics. The main reason was we were still in the dome and not paying top players top money. When they came to their contract years, they were traded or they walked. Hunter and Santana were our top players, neither was getting paid and both were gone. That's how we operated in the Dome.
  19. xIt was mentioned in the minor league transactions a couple days ago
  20. Round 24 (710) -- Jaylin Davis, OF Also shown as signed now. Apparently he was part of the first batch of signees based on the date the Twins are reporting. Moran and Young still not on the transactions page.
  21. Transactions page says the Twins signed undrafted C from University of Delaware John Hayman. I could not find any info on this guy.Could someone attach a link if you find something?
  22. Thats 24 signed, 2 rumored to be signed and possibly money available to draw in a HS prospect still? That's a lot of new players...
