  1. And They're Off!! The season has started and Wade has a hit (1 for 4 opening night). Here We Go!!
  2. First MLB home run of his career. Prospect status dying quickly! (In the good way) ROY status growing? https://www.mlb.com/twins/news/twins-mitch-garver-hits-first-mlb-home-run/c-270994818
  3. Once again, I miss the "buy that guy a steak" button... Like is just not a strong enough word for this OP. Thank you for giving us the down low on Sammons.
  4. A torn ACL is hard to come back from in less than a year. My guess is that Arraez is still going to be on the DL a little longer but he is still listed on his MiLB page as a member of the Miracle. Attached is his AAP page if anyone wants to update us on his rehab... http://twinsdaily.com/topic/28855-luis-arraez-2018/
  5. Arraez is still listed on the Fort Myers Roster on his MiLB page but is not on the News Release of the opening day roster. Best bet is that he is still recovering from the torn ACL suffered last season. Hopefully, he can be activated sooner than later. IF anyone knows his progress in the recovery, an update would be appreciated.
  6. Though not loaded with top 20 prospects, this team still has a lot of players that could be interesting to follow this year. Following their AAP pages last year, Poppen and Beeker both emerged as names to watch for me. I don't know that either one will make it past AA but I don't know that either one cannot emerge as a Gonsalves type down the road either. They need to make some noise at some point but what they did last year (and throughout their careers) told me that these guys are sleepers that could emerge at some point. Hector Lujan, Diaz, Jaylin Davis, Blankenhorn, Stashak, Vasquez, Wells, and Hackimer are also names that have come up in posts a lot in the past. All these names are familiar with the prospect pages on TD. That combined with the new guys to the organization, Bray and Grzelakowski, I can't wait to see which guys on this roster emerge. I am confident there will be several a lot more familiar to us by the end of the year and that more than 3 names on this roster will be on top 30 lists by the end of the year. Last comment: Cedar Rapids is loaded. These guys will have to step up because there are a lot of guys coming with a lot of talent gunning for their positions.
  7. Then I'm not gonna do Chattanoooga....
  8. Gonna go April 14th and 15th
  9. Announced here. You may have to click on "Full Story" https://www.milb.com/kernels/news/kernels-kids-heroes-card-set-nominations-closed/c-270382476 Starters, relievers and infielders are listed according what they mostly did LAST year and are not necessarily an indication of planned usage this year. Starters Randy Dobnak Bryan Sammons Tyler Watson Edward Colina Blayne Enlow Tyler Watson Relievers Logan Lombana Catchers Ben Rortvedt David Banuelos Infield SS-Royce Lewis 2B-Jose Miranda 3B-Andrew Bechtold SS-Jordan Gore 1B-Ben Rodriguez Outfield Alex Kirilloff Akil Baddoo Trey Cabbage Shane Carrier The Press Release does not mention these names but they are all listed on the Roster Page. Obviously some of these are on the roster because there are not enough names listed above. Starters Nick Brown (7 of 11 Appearances were starts) Griffin Jax Relievers Calvin Faucher Kevin Finkel Kevin Marnon Jose Martinez Ryan Mason Jovani Moran Outfielder Mark Contreras
  10. https://www.milb.com/miracle/news/miracle-2018-opening-day-roster-announced/c-270486440 I do not see an explanation for who is the expected starting rotation vs relievers but this list shows Starters vs Relievers for the majority of their appearances last year. Same for the infielders. Interestingly, there are no true SS on the team ATM. Starters: Charlie Barnes Clark Beeker Adam Bray Anthony Marzi Sean Poppen Cody Stashak Tyler Wells Relievers Brady Anderson Colton Davis Tom Hackimer Hector Lujan Alex Robinson Andrew Vasquez Catchers Taylor Grzelakowski Caleb Hamilton Mitchell Kranson Infielders 2B/3B-Travis Blankenhorn 1B-Lewin Diaz 3B-Brandon Lopez Util-Nelson Molina 2B-Alex Perez Outfielders Jaylin Davis Jared Foster Jimmy Kerrigan Aaron Whitefield
  11. Im intrigued by 8 Pitchers on the list Im intrigued by only 1 position player

  13. This ^ That is a list of 4 guys I believe will surprise people down the road (well, kirloff might not be a surprise). I'll predict that barring injury, all 4 will rise the prospect lists this year.
  14. Oooohhhh, I did not realize Kinley was 27... I thought he was younger...
  15. Beating Johnny bench might help his HOF candidacy though... AJ only 5 behind Bench?
  16. Amazing to see an 8 year gap between the #1 and #2 longest tenured.
  17. But actually that is what businesses do in the real world. They build and hope to make the owners richer down the road while the personnel endure leaner times hoping to see that same growth and benefit down the road from the better times to come. We hope our loyalty through the leaner times will be rewarded when the business thrives and that we won't get cut when it doesn't thrive right away. Joe Mauer has been in work now mode throughout his career despite enduring bad personal times and team struggles... When a business owner sees an opportunity, they may push their chips in and risk the future of the company on the big pay day. Baseball (and all sports) is a business and should be run like one much to our dismay
  18. Several names on the list I am sad to see released. I want them all to make it! Dang it,
  19. Wish I could.. That would be really cool!
  20. In many ways English and Granite bring a similar skill set in speed and defense but neither has historically shown a lot of power. (Granite FWIW, has shown more ability to swipe bases) I was at the game when English hit the home run. I had just told my wife that English was a fast guy, great defender and pinch runner but he just doesn't hit enough home runs. Seconds later the ball is flying over the fence and my wife is looking at me confused. Then after the third out everyone walked off the field including the umps and my wife asked what was happening. Sorry dear, no extra inning in ST...
  21. SMH, I meant to type Slegers... Not sure where that Eades thing came from...
  22. Eades is probably the worst of these but first in line...Romero is probably the best of those 4 but he will probably be the last one called up...
  23. Well Carole, I was there also and my wife and I sure appreciated the ninth inning for two reasons. A) sitting in the sun most of the game we were kinda cooking so when we finally got shade in the ninth my wife said next time we need to get seats in the shade. That breeze was sure cool though. Right after I told her that English had no power, a Tanner English home run? Tie game? There are no tie games in baseball!! That was an interesting inning...
  24. I'll also be there Friday and Saturday....
  25. Sometimes seasons come to an end sooner than we hoped. Lightening the mood while informing the masses is ok but always remember to be respectful and grateful to the prospect who is entering a tough period in life. Put a wrap on the season or Twins career, predict what you may see coming next for the young man and we will all wish them well.
