  1. I missed the last series because I'm in the Baltimore blackout area. First non orioles game is Apple so blacked out on MLBtv. I don't care about Apple. I do care that every stinking sports league parcels out the games to ensure you can't watch them without subsidizing every individual streaming service. If you postulate every sports league despises their actual fans I would be hard pressed to prove you wrong.
  2. Has a national media person ever - in any sport - suggested a trade proposal that benefits the MN team? I can't recall one. It's a safe rule of thumb that any trade proposal not suggested by local MN media is intended to move assets out of MN or liabilities to MN. Or both. Often both.
  3. If our choices are continuing to watch him struggle for the Twins, because we can't straighten him out, or watching him excel with some other organization because they can, I vote for letting someone else straighten him out. His performances (or lack thereof) are demoralizing for the whole team. There are other culprits but if we're going to start holding players accountable Alcala is a good place to start.
  4. Why, why, why? Why did they do that? What everyone here fails to understand - the FO and Rocco are smarter than you and me. They are professionals. Hell, they're even smarter than their peers in the game. Can you demonstrate your intelligence and baseball acumen by doing what any random fan would do? By doing what generations of lesser baseball professionals have done? No, because if you just do what's traditional and normal then how special are you, really? How innovative? This team is reshaping baseball strategy. Thinking outside the box. And if you're wondering why they remain unconcerned with the teams record, why, that's easy. They will not allow an antiquated metric like won/loss record distract them from their advanced statistical performance analysis. Focusing on wins is just another old fashioned baseball tradition the Twins have advanced beyond.
  5. So it was all Miranda's fault.... Seriously, this is what it's supposed to look like. Announcing crew mentioned several times the team seemed more upbeat. Even if they're faking it a couple more wins (or at least competitive losses) should improve the attitude. Improved attitude will mean improved play.
  6. I don't see paranoia as much as an inability to admit error. I've worked with people who were incredibly smart, genius level. A couple had become so accustomed to being right almost all the time they would not, could not, admit when they were wrong. A little humility goes a long way and I'm not seeing any, not a smidgeon, from Twins management. As for the drafting, I think the Twins draft talent. They just don't develop it. You would think at least one draftee since Buxton would be an everyday high level player. Best we've got is league average. That's not an accident. I don't know how to fix it but something needs to change on the farm before the MLB team becomes competitive.
  7. You haven't seen it before because it's indicative of a player who's completely lost focus on the game. We've all seen fielders miss the bag. We've seen umpires miss calls. We are not accustomed to seeing offensive players so checked out they fail to take advantage of the fielder's mistake. Miranda is not the only player who's lost focus and, unless things turn around, he won't be the last shipped out one way or another. Just like hitting, chronic inattention is contagious. This should have been nipped in the bud many months ago, as in last season, and we have to hope it isn't too late.
  8. Sounds good until you realize the same organization in charge of their development is the one that "developed" the current crop of young players that aren't producing. Poor defense, bad baserunning, sheer guessing at the plate....maybe even the bad attitude is coming up from the minors. When you have to go outside the organization to find someone with hustle there's a real problem.
  9. Also, to add to the confusion at second base - why was Miranda signaled safe when he had never reached the base? Miranda wasn't the only individual making assumptions on that play.
  10. Twins are beginning to look like one of those movies so bad they're funny. Maybe, to attract viewers, management can hire the MST3K gang to do the broadcast. No more monotone Morneau, no more smarmy, patronizing Provus. Just lean into the comedic possibilities of the 2025 Minnesota Twins.
  11. In the movie Major League, a baseball indifferent owner wants to move her team to Miami for a better social life. An escape clause allows the owner to break the stadium lease if attendance is low. The owner stocks the team with misfits who are bad at baseball. The players find out ownership considers them financial liabilities useful only as cogs in her machinations. Their response is to sabotage her plans by playing excellent fundamental baseball that wins games and attracts fans. In the real world a baseball indifferent ownership group wants to sell their team to realize a $1.7 Billion windfall and wipe out millions more in (likely non-baseball) debt. The players realize ownership considers them financial liabilities useful only to promote the sale price of the team. They respond by playing indifferent, lackluster baseball that turns off fans and reduces the value of the franchise.
  12. All these require contact. Twins continue to look at strikes, swing at balls, and fail to make contact on balls over the plate. Everyone seems to be overthinking at the plate. France and Bader are not bad but then they've had less time in the Twins system. A few more months working with Twins coaching and they'll be around the Mendoza line as well.
  13. Bader is praised almost daily for his enthusiasm and visible love of the game. Twins used to field entire teams with that attitude. Even when those teams didn't win they were fun to watch. Then there's this bunch...
  14. Pohlads have shown their cards with the sale. I will be shocked if salary coming off the books, by expiration or trade, is applied to roster upgrades. The kids will have to sink or swim on their own. And considering the track record of recent graduates from our so-called player development pipeline, it will be sink. The pitching pipeline does look better than, say, five years ago. The focus on pitching development appears to have resulted in neglect of the fielding side. No defense, no fundamentals, no hitting.
  15. Rocco has to manage around the abilities (and lack thereof) of the players he has. It doesn't appear he's doing a good job of that. Putting a dangerous hitter on an open base to get your pitcher a better matchup is just good management. Guess a couple others already said this. Still true.
  16. The Twins are a bad baseball team. But they will never be as bad as tonight's home plate ump. Woof.
  17. As for the ball being juiced it's possible the fans on both sides are right. League has a history of providing "live" balls for favored teams.
  18. You think? We absolutely have a development issue.
  19. Correa would have multiple hits if were hitting against the Twins D. Cardinals have looked sharp in the field. Reminiscent of Twins teams of the past.
  20. I will give the manager the benefit of the doubt and assume Rocco thought this lineup gave the Twins their best chance to win. Scary thought...what if Rocco is right?
  21. Someone noted the lack of commercials on the broadcast. It's nice. It is, however, financial malpractice for a team complaining of revenue shortfalls. Still no branding on the uniforms either. Is the team so toxic no one wants their product associated? Or is this similar to the attempt to sell an (estimated) 1.5 Billion dollar franchise for no less than 1.7 Billion? It would be so on-brand for ownership to set an outlandish price for uniform labeling and get nothing rather than accept the highest offer. Or demand top dollar for a 30 second spot between innings and get...nothing. I'm going to enjoy it while it lasts. But I'm also not going to have any sympathy when the team pleads poverty.
