  1. I won't post again because four in a row is too many. Oops
  2. Why does anyone pitch Colabello on the outside part of the plate? He makes a good living out there.
  3. A gentleman never tells. Chief will probably dish, though.
  4. That was a shot. Plouffe must enjoy hitting in this park.
  5. I thought that was a nice at-bat by Presley- got locked up on a 3-2 curve on the outside corner, but that was the tenth pitch. The Stro's pitcher is at 53 pitches after 2 innings, and they burned the pen last night.
  6. It looks like her Dad was nice enough to bring her to the game tonight. What a treat for her!
  7. For those of you who don't know Keith, just listen to him do color for the Mets because he will tell you 3-4 times a game how great he was. I listened to them for one Twins game- he announced that day's quiz question. The prize? His autobiography. The question? "How many Gold Gloves did I win while I was on the Mets?" A great first baseman, and a greater self-promoter!
  8. The Trevor May thread has a post from earlier today saying he was promoted to Rochester for the playoffs.
  9. Note to Astros- down four in the ninth, try not to get thrown out stretching a single into a double. Granted, it was a monster shot with a great bounce back to Mastro, but still.
  10. I've been a Colabello doubter since he came up. In fact, I'm still a doubter. But I'd love for him to spend a full month proving me absolutely, totally wrong.
  11. OK, we knew this already, but Colabello can really hit AAA pitching, even at the ML level! ...and he picked a darn good spot, too.
  12. So you'll have to swim really really fast.
  13. Yeah, and it was only a one-in-three shot so not an automatic. Good call.
  14. Actually you might want to sell the rights to True TV or whichever cable channel carries Lizard Lick Towing.
  15. It's all part of the therapy- take a guy recovering from a knee injury, let him round third, then throw up the stop sign and see if he can stay on his feet.
  16. I was at a recent White Sox-Astros game in Chicago (family event I couldn't really avoid). There were several drunk hecklers in my section, right-center field. They kept heckling the Astro's right-fielder, calling him "Howe" and trying to make jokes based on Howe. Then they realized his name was actually "Hoes". It gave them great inspiration, although the security guard threatening to throw them out eventually dampened their enthusiasm.
  17. All 348 fans in Houston were really energized by that play. It was really nice to see Willingham at least lower his shoulder and try to jar the ball loose, rather than politely refusing to slide and accepting the tag, as we've seen lately. So Plouffe has 3 hits and has managed to make two really bad outs on the basepaths. He's a multi-threat player.
  18. Wow! Runners on first and second. Base hit up the middle...for a double play. We end up with no runs scored, two outs, and a man on second. Must be seen to believed. Willingham and Plouffe made like Abbott and Costello. Time for Chief's new sig line...
  19. My prediction- the first team to 14 will win this game.
  20. And my man-crush on Dozier just get a little bit worse.
  21. Twins cut it to 6-4. Let's roll, boys. Swarzak needs a W.
  22. I like Diamond's chance at getting the W...go Rochester!
  23. Things to think about: 2. Arcia- is his injury so bad that he might be shut down? We keep hearing he's a little ways away. Hopefully he can come back and hurt some baseballs before long. 3. Presley- is it time to trade him, when he's at his peak? This year we had too few outfielders, but we are all hoping for a time in the near future when we have too many. 4. Kevin Correia- when he's bad, he's very very bad, but he's had some very good starts as well (and not just in April). A couple of his "quality" starts have been cases where a lot of rockets were hit at people, but last night he looked totally in control. I no longer have a complete feeling of dread when he's the starting pitcher. So he's got that going for him, anyway.
  24. Hermann caught Albers in AAA and they seemed to mesh well together. It's been working up here, too. No sense messing with it- we need to evaluate Hermann as well.
  25. Given Arcia's defense so far I don't see him holding down an outfield spot for too long. I'd count on him as the primary DH, especially if Dozier keeps hitting anything like his recent output.
