  1. Brian has changed since he has left the great plains. It was not that long ago when he was satisfied with a Hungry Man chicken dinner with really brightly colored vegetables. Now he is eating the frozen dinners that big city folks eat. What is next - drinking beer from a glass?
  2. I doubt anyone could quantify this question.
  3. Damn -- a CBU done by the actual Circus Boy. That is kind of the equivalent of when Prince shows up and plays at First Avenue for old times sake.
  4. That just gave me a flashback to Twins Outfield 2014 (I think - 2011 to 2014 are starting to blur together in my mind as I try to repress most of the memories).
  5. I think Provous gives Dan s*&* a little more now, so it is not as bad as when he first teamed up with him. However, generally when they have someone on from one of the World Series teams they lay it on thick. Even if it is someone who they talk to frequently they bring up whatever play the person might have made every time. I remember when Morris used to host a post-game show (I think while they were on 1500), every single week someone would bring up game 7 and how if he would have pitched today's game it would have been a complete game and they would have won. Granted -- good pitcher and fantastic game, but I did not forget he pitched that game since it had been mentioned the previous day. I think every caller also would bring it up. To be fair, they were probably desperate for things to talk about during this time. There were only so many times they could speculate how great a pitcher Sam Deduno could be if he learned to control his pitches. My grumpy old man post for the day. Rain delays have also gotten old.
  6. Perhaps I am too vindictive and small-minded, but there is a part of me that wonders if there is a chance his resurgence this year might not have been completely due to a natural work out and clean, healthy eating.
  7. I still want a redo on Game 163, part 1, the Wrath of Thome. Probably the Angels game, because it not only cost us gaining ground but helped the Angels on their way to passing us in the Wild Card hunt. [The inverse of this thread - probably a few games that we won that was not completely due to stellar playing on our part. I believe the Baltimore sweep that saved us from crashing and put us in this last play-off push could have gone differently. We also might want to send a thank you note to the White Sox defense.]
  8. The beer on Mars has been confirmed. Perhaps the next TD pub crawl should head to the red planet. It might also be a nice trip home for a few people. http://i.ebayimg.com/00/s/ODAwWDU1NA==/$(KGrHqNHJE!E88YlHisPBPc3V-v,uQ~~60_35.JPG .
  9. Damn - just when I was going to share my you always remember where you were sports memory of when my small town defeated Grand Rapids in hockey 4 to 2. No - it was not even a tournament game, but sometimes in a small town you need to cling to whatever sports victory memory you can get. Our other big sports bragging is one of our alumni was on the 1980 hockey team. My grade school band played home on the range for him when he made an appearance at the school to sign autographs. Not exactly game 7 excitement - but damn close. I am kind of bitter I can not find a clip of any of this on youtube. Oh well - at least there is chicken dinner tonight.
  10. I remember we were almost late for my sister's confirmation because we were watching the end of the 1980 gold medal game against Finland at my grandparents. The championship game was actually scheduled for a Sunday morning - doubt that would happen now. A lot of people were walking into the church at the last minute. I think it was an early afternoon service. As much as people rightfully remember the US-USSR game, the championship game was not a bit of a nail-biter at times as well.
  11. It is a long season, no one associated with baseball feels 100% once it is September. This is when you can see who the greats are when they turn in work product as if they are still as energized and sharp as they were when they were coming out of spring training.
  12. I think next year the revived Vanimal is going to be three times the pitcher that Papelbon is with only about a 2/3 of the personality disorders, toxic behavior, and diva attitude. We won't need Papelbon
  13. Your life is probably better for not understanding some things or references. http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-8MinC8jISuY/U_-OrkeMNhI/AAAAAAAAm5s/YkX79kLXVmQ/s1600/Week17b.JPG

  15. Yes - but they do not have to use their minds to process all of the subtle and clever jokes and ponder some of the complex philosophical discussions that you do on the game thread. Our minds are much more fatigued by this point of the game.
  16. I hope you did not just anger Steve Gutenberg by improperly linking to his page. You don't want to get him mad -- he is ruthless to his enemies.
  17. My community band plays in a community band festival every year called Band Width. The average age of people playing in community bands is only a generation or two younger than Chief -- so you have a point.
  18. I know you don't want to abuse your power too much, but this might be a good time to throw around some of your TD clout and get some prime seats (although they might want to get you in a broadcast booth and interview you between innings).
  19. Make sure they have wi-fi -- it would be a let down if you got to the game and found out you could not follow the game thread.
  20. Hmmmmm - Has anyone ever seen Brian and Clark Griswold in the same place at the same time? I wonder....
  21. That reminds me of a play I saw in college of about a nun a priest and crazy lady basically snow bound all winter in the UP. It did not end well -- you would be smart to try and avoid this type of situation this winter.
  22. This music could lead to very different locker room post-game dance party.
  23. Yes - but you will be missing this in a few months -- you will find out that trees mess up getting really good snow drifts. http://www.endofthenet.org/wp-content/uploads/ATT00034.jpg
