  1. Torii introduced them to Prince and Little Red Corvette last year - I think that is when those singing clips took place.
  2. The sad thing is they also knew it was an issue and said it was the number one priority in the off-season, but did not really do anything concrete to address that need.
  3. I have lived in Minnesota long enough to be familiar with disappointing games (my first sports memories are the last couple of super bowl losses), and I usually just move on from a loss and shake it off, but I woke up last night about 3:00 am wide awake and for some reason the game is what had entered my mind and it took me awhile to clear it from my head and go back to sleep I am assuming something else was bothering me and just manifested itself as an anxiety hang-over from the game, but I would appreciate a victory tonight, or at least a loss in under 5 hours and less than 20 strikeouts.
  4. There are - they just are not family friendly.
  5. I would be OK with an insurance run.
  6. I think he falls into that Santa Claus - Moses - Bigfoot category. No one is really sure how much of him is real, myth, legend, or figment of some madman's imagination.
  7. Probably Chief -- since despite his biblically advanced years he will outlive us all.
  8. I am going to predict by the time we are playing our play-off games we are going to be averaging single digit strikeouts per game. For the World Series we will average 7.5 strike outs per game. We will look back at this series and laugh.
  9. At least it took them 13 innings to get 18 strike-outs today -- progress.
  10. I wonder if Vanimal did something to irritate his date during May's pitching.
  11. True - I checked on a thread last week and Vanimal was posting and you seemed absent, I knew then it was a lost game.
  12. If we win this game we will have to determine whether Vanimal is on a date, and if so, he will need to go on 140 or so more dates between now and October (plus hopefully some play-off dates).
  13. I don't think McCarthy was known for having a good sport and good sense of humor. I am thinking he read the thread and did what he could from whereever he is at to make us play less at a less than a premium level - at least for one game. You are probably also now on his list. http://www.patrickstomlinson.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/09/joseph_mccarthy1.jpg
  14. New guy has to buy a round of drinks for everyone on the thread -- and not the cheap stuff.
  15. Sometimes people would drive down to the Cities and would let us know what was going on in the outside world (although generally people would only make that trip for the state hockey tournament). Cable came around 1980 and then we were only about ten years behind. Unless you lived in the country - then there was no cable access unless you built a really big antenna or a massive satalite dish. Sometimes we would get reception for a Thunder Bay station. It would show the World of Disney on Saturdays, so those were special weekends. I also vaguely remember a Canadian Captain Kangaroo type character called the Gentle Giant - which I suspect would come off kind of creepy if I saw the show now.
  16. Growing up between Duluth and the border myself I would agree with that. Although at that time it actually was the 80's.
  17. Yes - that kind of bums me out. Such a great story of a lot of hard work and perseverance to make a dream come true and now it will always be tainted. I read his statement and he says he does not know how it got into his system. I am always a little skeptical of player statements like this, but if that is true and he did not knowingly or intend to use a controlled substance, I feel for the guy. Plus, unlike some of the bigger stars, losing that half year salary will be a big hurt financially, not to mention this might simply end his career.
  18. Is there another Brian I don't know about?
  19. Someone mentioned this on Reusse's show today and he dismissed it as anything saying they like to kid Escobar and it all part of a on-going thing. I do remember Dozier saying something about his religious beliefs and thinking that he did a good job of balancing simply saying what he believes in without trying to push it. Even if it was a true moment of tension, these people are with each other constantly for long days during the season, and I am sure on occasion rub each other the wrong way from time to time. It could have simply been a moment of irritation without having any significance in the big picture.
  20. I have heard the Sisters of Battle your Tales Off have been really worked their rosaries like crazy to make this happen. Coincidentally the Mother Superiorsie is Punto's aunt. http://spiritualdirection.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/02/nuns-playing-baseball.jpg
  21. If we would have won just two of those first nine we would be looking at 6 and 7 right now. Damn you nine game losing streak.
  22. There is a joke found in Leviticus that might predate Chief. I think it begins two prophets walk into the desert.
  23. Is it my imagination or has his defense seem a little more inconsistent so far this year?
