  1. Altuve and Stringer aren't 93 OPS+ utility players.
  2. I have no idea if Altuve is "scum", or what kind of guy Lombardozzi is. But, anyone who systematically cheats is devoid of character.
  3. Duran misses bats with his though. He's not pitching it to contact and hoping for ground balls.
  4. Fangraphs grades his slider as above average now, with plus potential.
  5. I don't agree that he did just fine last year. I can't speak to the team's expectations when they signed him, but I was expecting a bit better than 94 OPS+.
  6. Take a look at the innings pitched. They aren't actually projecting an ERA for Wells (or any of the other pitchers they have at 1 inning). It just means they don't project him to pitch in the MLB and they don't want any of those guys that won't pitch to list above the players who will when sorting by ERA. It's not a knock against Wells, it's the same for everyone they don't expect to play, regardless of draft position.
  7. The league can't do anything. They gave the players full immunity.
  8. Woods-Richardson is now a Jays prospect. He was part of the package for Stroman at the trade deadline last year.
  9. The ratings likely differ from your opinion because they don't view him as a top of the rotation starter. Outside of Twins Daily, who is saying that? Fangraphs projects him as a #4 starter. Pipeline doesn't appear to project a rotation placement in their write up, but they only project one plus pitch - his fastball.
  10. Hill can go on the 60 day IL as soon as spring training starts.
  11. Right, but given the absurd offensive environment last year, he had to improve considerably to keep his numbers the same. His ERA+ went up from 113 to 124.
  12. Given the offensive environment last year, yes, Berrios most certainly improved, a lot.
  13. The scoreboard would say they are clearly worse than GB, since they swept us. But, regardless of talent, I just don't trust that Zimmer is a good enough coach to win a title.
  14. This would mean that he also induces a lot of soft contact, which brings down his average exit velocity. I would think this is true of a lot of extreme ground ball pitchers, though I haven't looked.
  15. They aren't allowed more than 13 pitchers on the roster. New rule when the 26 man roster was introduced.
  16. Even when healthy they aren't good. None of the Vikings CB's ranked higher that #45 per PFF.
  17. They aren't allowed to carry 14 pitchers. That's a new rule that came with the 26 man roster.
  18. Zero reason they can't DH Garver when Avila catches. They can play by NL rules for a few innings on the slim chance Avila has to leave the game.
  19. They were ranked where they were for the same reason they were drafted high, talent. They weren't ranked where they were because of where they were drafted. Two sides of the same coin, perhaps, but still not the same thing.
  20. Every GM in the league can find talent. Every team in the league has talented players, and every GM has found talented players late in the draft. I too think Zimmer is the bigger problem between the two. But, it's not Zimmer's fault that the offensive line is terrible, the cornerbacks are terrible, and the interior defensive line is porous. When I watched the 49ers game, yes I saw one coaching staff out coach the other. But, I also saw a pretty steep talent advantage as well.
  21. I agree that a couple of those guys are going to have to be able to step in for the league minimum next year. At least 15 of that $30M is going to have to go to one starting pitcher.
  22. I'm estimating arbitration amounts, of course. But I come up with $99M in 2021 payroll for the remaining players in your above scenario. Should be more like 30-35 million to spend. I don't know if that changes your argument.
  23. Of course if they are taking a hard line on "cheaters", they'd have to release Cruz and Pineda as well.
  24. BP had Alcantara #70 overall coming into his rookie season. I'd love to see the stacked system that would have him in the 15-20 range.
  25. Even the Onion wouldn't dare make this up Mike.
