    His OPS+ was 7% worse. The offensive environment has to be considered when looking at just the raw numbers.

    His OPS last year was .771. Five years ago that would have been good for an OPS+ of 115 (15% better than league average). Last year it was 6% below league average. He didn't get more playing time because he didn't deserve it. I think it's often underestimated just how much the offensive environment has changed.

    Yeah, that's what integrity is. Doing the right thing despite all of those potential consequences. Anyone can do the right thing once the consequences have passed. That doesn't require any integrity.

    I have a problem with all the players on the cheating team. Every single one, including Fiers. Fiers doesn't get to be the guy with the integrity or the conscience here. That's all I'm saying. He has exactly equally as low of integrity as everyone else on the team. Integrity would have been refusing to look the other way while your cheating team is benefiting you. If he had integrity, he would have told the team, "stop cheating or I'm leaving the team and telling the press what's going on." I'm not singling out Fiers, as you imply I am, I'm actually doing the opposite. I'm saying he's in the same group as all the other players that didn't say anything.

    I'm only saying that I agree with the part I quoted. That's it. I'm not defending Ortiz or defending an anti snitching culture. Period.

    What was the kerfuffle over #20? I recall that Donaldson asked for the number, and Rosario declined. I must have missed the ensuing kerfuffle.

    Maybe that's true, I won't try to mind read. That's not what he said in this case though.

    Who did he tell in 2017, while he was part of the team doing the cheating? 2018 was after Fiers left the Astros, so that doesn't change Ortiz' point.

    You are forgetting the offense, who didn't score enough runs to win the series regardless of our pitching. There is plenty of blame to go around in that series.

    While I agree with you that the anti snitching culture goes overboard in many parts of society, I agree 100% with part of what Ortiz is saying. “After you make your money, after you get your ring, you decided to talk about it?” he asked. “Why you gotta talk about it after, that’s my problem. Why nobody say anything while it was going on?” I agree with Ortiz there. Where was Fiers integrity while this was happening? It's a lot easier to find integrity after you've made your guaranteed money, and gotten a ring, and moved on to another team.

    I can see you put a lot of thought and time into this, so I'll try not to be too harsh. I don't think it's a good idea.

    No, the Twins development group has not always been good. That's why they were the worst team in baseball for most of a decade, and Ryan got fired. They were awful on the development side.

    Not quite. MLB owners are part of a co-op, which together makes up MLB. Owners can be removed for behavior that is detrimental to the league. They agree to that standard when they enter into the co-op. Somewhat like buying a restaurant franchise. Yes, you own the restaurant. But there are standards that you agree to, and failure to do so can result in the franchise being removed from you.

    Having not read any of the publications write ups, my wild guess would be that maybe BP has already determined he's a 1B, while the others are still classifying him as an outfielder.

    Ben Revere still had 4 years of team control remaining when we traded him. I'm fine with the trade, but he wasn't soon to be a free agent.

    I believe that's called an opinion. And given his talent and prospect rankings, a completely fair one. I know I'll miss having him. Sharing opinions is the whole point of this site. It's not a clearinghouse to compile facts.

    It may be different in other organizations, but I don't think the Twins provide room and board.

    I believe those were the writers words. I doubt Falvey views him as a 1 or 2.

    Perhaps you didn't notice last year's historical offensive environment. May's 2.94 ERA was 56% better than league average. That's bordering on elite.

    Trades, yes. I have zero problem sending out prospects or picks for players. It's selling them for cash that i have a problem with. Actually, it's not even a problem. This is SOP for this ownership, and I long ago accepted that. I was merely pointing out my frustration for thinking maybe this year would be different. It's a "shame on me" frustration, I should have known better by now.

    Why did the Dodgers have to send $10M if the draft pick was intended to make up the difference between Maeda and Graterol? Your theory is that the Dodgers said the cost for Maeda is Graterol plus a draft pick, but then the Dodgers just randomly for no reason decided to send us $10M? That makes no sense. I think it's pretty clear that the $10M was for the draft pick and Raley.
