  1. I might word this differently, but I agree with the sentiment. I would say a very deserved anger has built up even amongst the most level-headed fans, an anger toward an ownership group that has refused to invest in what has been a winning product. That anger will melt away if a sale is made to an ownership group that seems, at least on its face, that it will operate very differently. Even if it won't impact 2025 in a meaningful way, I'll at least be able to enjoy the season a heck of a lot more.
  2. Depressing, but.....start the conversation with Volpe and if the Yankees continue talks, keep talking....
  3. The point of the article was to say "wouldn't it be nice if we, as a society, might shift our priorities on what's important." To me, I didn't read it as anyone did anything they shouldn't do. Just, wouldn't it be nice if it were different? And maybe by calling attention to it, it's one small part of some long-term shift. I just think too many are reading in more than that.
  4. I feel like most people here have reading comprehension issues sometimes LOL. Matthew, I love the article. We should want society and the world to be a better place, and put the health concern in the moment ahead of a run or a win. As you allude to, it's not going to happen tomorrow, or next month, or next year. But we can and should aspire to be that world. I would run home if I were Kepler. But I'd feel just as crappy about it as he does. Imagine a world where we could stay put and everyone would support and understand that decision.
  5. Found this interesting. They listed two Minnesota Twins in their article. CJ Culpepper and....Byron Chourio, who got an honorable mention here at Twins Daily but was left out of Gleeman's top 40 and Twins' org lists on Baseball America and Baseball Prospectus. He was #21 on Fangraphs' Top 36 back in June of 2023. I just found him to be an interesting inclusion....perhaps he has a big season in front of him! https://blogs.fangraphs.com/picks-to-click-who-we-expect-to-make-the-2025-top-100/
  6. I didn't know his Stuff+ was that solid. Also easy to forget he's only 23. I had definitely pushed him to the back of my mind, but he deserves some patience. Will be fun to see how he progresses this season.
  7. I'm happy to await the details here, but I can't imagine MLB agreeing to anything without eliminating the local blackout. They have been full-throated about the desire to get rid of it.
  8. While I agree it's not entirely clear, I read this as an end to local blackouts. If you're in "Twins Territory" and are a Prime subscriber, you can stream the team's games there. It will not give you access to all MLB games, only those available to you locally. If I'm right, and if the Twins can get included in this plan, this is a big win for most of us. For me personally, I already pay for Prime and MLB.tv, so it will allow me to FINALLY cancel DirecTV. As for the cable money, that ship has sailed. They won't get all that back. As for what the future holds, we shall see.
  9. So long as Amazon is open to it, I don't see why the Twins wouldn't just glom on to this for 1 year. Then you can negotiate with half the league next offseason collectively.
  10. that's the way I read it. You can stream home teams via Amazon, or watch on RSN. You still need At Bat to watch out of market.
  11. You answered your own question, I think. Just because Diamond was paying $50M doesn't mean it was worth $50M. There's a reason they're bankrupt now.
  12. You make a solid argument, but I'm not sure I'm buying that his bad season was entirely because of an injury. And there's really no fit with MN. I'm passing.
  13. Relax my man. RandballsStu does satire and humor here. It's all tongue-in-cheek. You should go back and read some of his other stuff.
  14. His brother wasn't a particularly highly ranked prospect until suddenly, he was. So you never know!
  15. You can't have a 38% K rate at AA at age 23 and warrant much hype. Perhaps he'll figure it out. There's still time. But most of the time, this kind of story doesn't end all that positively.
  16. As others have said, this is a solution in search of a problem. Ober and Maeda will both get plenty of starts. Non-issue.
  17. Great thoughts! Could be something there for sure.
  18. Thanks Cody. While I'd prefer to feel more certainty with the Twins bullpen as we start February, maybe I should start trying to find zen with what is already here. Are the guys left on the FA market as relief pitchers really better than Henriquez or Sands? Perhaps the Twins make the move with these guys and have some nice bullpen depth after all.
  19. While I think the Pads might trade Kim, I'm also not convinced they will. Like @chpettit19 said, it's likely they will slide Kim over with Cronenworth on the right side of the infield. Of course, if the Pads go sign a 1B, then I'll circle back here and revise. Would I be open to it? Absolutely - he's a great defender and an adequate hitter. But I sure hope they get Correa.
  20. If there's a path, it's something like this, though I wonder if the AAV is slightly light. But it's in the ballpark, and if the Twins have the cojones, it's an offer structure they should consider. Correa would certainly listen, and it would be at the very least close. I'm not afraid to look naïve: the Twins should sign Correa, and more than that, I expect them to. This is what they need to come and play.
  21. As a fantasy baseballer who owns 4 dynasty teams with deep minor league rosters, I am constantly mining data to identify guys who have broken out before they ever hit any sort of "list". I remember running my queries maybe in late May this year, and I was shocked to see Rodriguez at the top of my board. I knew who he was, but I don't follow the Twins minors specifically much closer than all the other organizations, so I was shocked at the numbers I was seeing. I flagged him for pickup/draft and I now own him everywhere. If he comes back from this injury and picks up where he left off, he's a potential top 10 guy by the end of next season. Lots happens between A ball and MLB, but he's one to be excited about for sure.
  22. ??????? This is a top 3 RandBalls Stu. I was laughing a little too hard, my coworkers wanted to know what's up. It was "Nightmare Diarrhea" that finally got me.
  23. I'm all for aggressiveness, but if we do all the things in this post, the payroll will exceed $200M. While I would argue that ownership could afford it if they wanted to, it's not feasible to expect this would happen. I would be a fan of signing Correa and Abreu though.... And the trade for Burnes and Woodruff....the "tradeables" listed have really no trade value at all. You would need to prepare to deal 3 of your top 5 prospects plus someone like Jose Miranda.....and even then I'm not sure it's enough. I like aggressiveness and passion, but we have to be realistic too.
  24. You'd.....let Jorge Alcala go instead of pay him $800K? I don't even know where to start with that....
