  1. Why bother trading for prospects. We won't call them up anyway. All we do is pick up washed up retreads that have been released from other teams.
  2. Have fun trying to sign any free agent starting pitchers this off-season! SWR throws 5 innings of shutout baseball, only 2 hits and just 64 pitches and he gets pulled. This isn't the first time this has happened to him. This has happened to each of our starting pitchers as well. What a slap in the face! It's understandable why Sonny Gray couldn't stand Baldelli.
  3. As a former starting college pitcher I believe the opener strategy is absolutely stupid. A starting pitcher has a mental and physical routine that he goes through before every start. Using an opener disrupts that routine, especially if it is a home game. It makes it difficult to prepare physically when you are either sitting in the dugout for an inning after warming up or you are in the bullpen and trying to determine just when you will enter the game. All the naysayers will say that he is a professional and should be prepared no matter what the situation. I totally disagree. Having consistency in your preparation is important. In my opinion the opener strategy puts a starting pitcher at a disadvantage. Proof? The results speak for themselves.
  4. Top of 7, Twins down 3-0 and the Brewers have men on first and third with one out. What does Baldelli do? He pulls the infield in. Next thing you know a double play ball was hit to third but because the infield was in Lee couldn't get to the ball. Should have been a DP and out of the inning but no- next thing you know Milwaukee puts up 5 runs in the inning instead of ZERO! Baldelli needs to go- Baldelli has to go!
  5. Please, please, please get rid of Baldelli! He has no clue how to develop young players, he has no clue how to manage a pitching staff and he has ZERO baseball sense. All he has is his damn computer spewing out analytics.
  6. The stat that Festa only averaged 4 1/3 innings per start is deceiving. Baldelli had much more to do with that than did Festa's pitching.
  7. Why bother with fundamentals when you have analytics! Analytics solve everything! Right Rocco?
  8. Your Mets had a payroll of $333 million. Most of your players were seasoned veterans. You are comparing apples to oranges. Younger players are still trying to find themselves and consistency is an important part of their development.
  9. In 2024 Baldelli used 154 different lineups and had the same batting order just two games in a row (only 11 times). Yes, there were injuries. But not to the extend you would need to have a different lineup on the field 154 games. This season it has been no different. A new lineup most every day. There is ZERO consistency from day to day. Pretty hard for younger players to develop from a defensive and a hitting perspective when they only play every other day at best. Baldelli overthinks everything. His platooning mentality, handling of the pitching staff and lack of any confidence is his young players is the root cause of the ballclubs struggles. He has to go and it can't be soon enough.
  10. Oh my. The data says this, the data says that. Data, data, data. How about some baseball sense! Ober is breezing through 6 innings and only thrown 73 pitches. His fastball was 2 MPH slower than the start of the game. Whoop-dee-doo. His off-speed stuff was still working great. He would be facing the bottom of the order. Your bullpen arms are warmed up in case he runs into trouble. You leave him in the damn game.
  11. How about we quit talking about the players and talk about the manager. Our manager is so smart he calls every pitch from the dugout based on his analytics. To heck with the catcher that knows what is and isn’t working for the pitcher that particular day. I pretty much know this comment won’t be allowed. Time to get a manager who has baseball sense and doesn’t rely on his computer to manage a team.
  12. 5 hits, 1 run and only 82 pitches and Ryan gets pulled after5 innings. What a crock of crap. This pitch count nonsense needs to stop.
  13. The only thing holding Varland back is his attitude. He insists he should be a starter while his stats prove otherwise. If he would ever embrace a relievers role he could be exceptional.
  14. I'm asking this out of curiosity - with all the injuries the Twins keep having is this on the players for not doing the proper stretching and warm up prior to a game or is part of this on the shoulders of the trainer? Any thoughts?
  15. Enough of the stupid platooning - if you want to see if a player can be a good everyday player you need to play him at one position more than a couple times a week regardless of the lefty / righty matchups.
  16. Pretty hard to prove yourself as a good everyday player when your manager doesn’t play you in the field more than 1 or 2 days a week. As far as hitting- last year Miranda hit a very respectable .284. Perhaps we need to reevaluate our manager and not Miranda.
  17. As long as Baldelli is the manager nobody, but nobody will thrive at second base as well as third, first and left and right field. Baldelli won’t play the same lineup more than two days in a row. All the analytic nonsense he believes in is the downfall of the young talent we have on this roster. Nobody plays the same position day in and day out. Therefore they don’t get enough defensive time nor enough at bats to be consistent. Baldelli is the problem. Take your platooning and stick it.
  18. You want a model for 90 wins? Fire Baldelli and get somebody in there that has a consistent daily lineup of players and some baseball sense instead of his blankety blank analytics. Without consistency the younger players will never develop. By constantly changing the lineup because of lefty righty pitching matchups the younger players will never develop. By constantly pinch hitting for younger players in scoring situations the younger players will never develop. By pulling pitchers after 4-5 innings after 60-70 pitches and 0-2 runs you will never develop a decent pitching staff. Sorry but Baldelli is the biggest obstacle to a 90 win season.
  19. I question those who believe Wallner/ Larnach/ Miranda aren’t good hitters. It seems every time them come to the plate in an important situation Baldelli pinch hits for them. Hard to be a good hitter when you only get two at bats per game and you only play maybe two days in a row. I would love to see what they can do if given a chance to play everyday and stay in the lineup past the 5th inning.
  20. I would love to see what a Bonafide manager could do with the talent on this team instead of the current manager who has zero baseball sense. (but a really great computer for his analytics)
  21. Gee- how did that Brusdar Gaterol trade work out? Twins got fleeced once again. Hang on to Duran!
  22. I mean no disrespect, however this is one poorly thought out article. This sounds like making a trade for the sake of making a trade. Do you really think trading a starting pitcher like Ryan or Ober for a 26 year old ballplayer who hasn’t been able to spend a full year in the majors for the past 3 years makes any sense? I grant you neither Ryan or Ober are Cy Young candidates but they are solid #2-3 starters. How do you intend to replace either of them? This trade makes ZERO sense.
  23. I'm not convinced that Lewis does not want to play second base. I think the way in which the Twins threw him into the position during the season without any chance to learn, practice and get comfortable at the position was what he disliked. I thought Twins management handled it poorly.
  24. Perhaps a manager and coaching staff that preach and teach defensive fundamentals would help.
  25. If you go back and read my post you will see that I said future stars. I never called them stars. It’s way too soon to count out Lewis, Lee, Martin and Julien as they have all shown a lot of promise at times during their major league stint. They need more games at this level before you can call them busts, and I don’t believe any of them will be busts. Miranda had a good year and shows a lot of promise at the plate. The Twins management has done a pretty poor job trading our young players for veterans who never panned out. Why trade young talent that hasn’t fully reached their potential? Winning organizations are for the most part built from within. Time to develop our youngsters.
