  1. Good God this team... ten games in and looking like trash.
  2. Did someone bother to tell the players this lol? Jeez this team is brutal to witness right now.
  3. Getting no hit through four by the White Sox and currently losing 9-0... good lord. Correa still hitless... Buck's only got one... in three and a half games. Jesus, Mary, and Joseph guys, have some pride.
  4. Well that was not fun at all this weekend. Five runs in three games... Top to bottom most everyone looked pretty rough. Hitting better come around ASAP or this could get ugly fast. Even the bullpen didn't look all that great. I don't see Baldelli getting canned any time soon. With the team on the market for sale (supposedly still? but who TF knows) I don't see him being let go before season's end unless new ownership takes control before then.
  5. If he's back before June I'll be moderately surprised. Grade 2 does indeed indicate partial tearing of the soft tissues so I'd bet with his injury history they will not rush him back.
  6. Imagine how the pitching staff feels about it...
  7. We. Are. Almost. There! Can't wait for beisbol to be back in sight now that the nfl is done for a bit. Question: Has anyone given any thought to hypothesizing how any new owners would treat this season? The last I remember hearing about any annoucement of sale of the Twins is that it likely wouldn't be until after the regular season started. Not sure if that's worthy of an article or not, but I am extremely curious what others think. As an aside, I'm more of a rah rah guy but the amount of knowledge and detail that many of you have here at Twins Daily regarding this great game and how it's played and managed is impressive!
  8. Ok, stupid side question, but what happened with Mientkiewicz and his role(s) in the Twins minor league system? I feel like I remember something happening but can't remember for the life of me.
  9. Re: pricing I too think they way you do. I'm excited for this, but when it comes to actually pulling the trigger on a $100 viewership option to watch baseball on TV I admittedly pause. They use the SD market pricing as an example, but that area is pretty robust population wise (compared to even our multi state area up here) so I can't help but wonder if maybe closer to $15/month and $75 a season would get better subscription numbers... thoughts? I'm just spit ballin here.
  10. "Their numbers with the younger generations must be horrible. They were asleep at the wheel for far too long despite all kinds of people on the outside jumping up and down screaming that the sport was dying and they needed to do things to attract a younger audience to keep up with the NFL and not get passed by the NBA. Too late now. NBA flew by them and the NFL is long gone in this race. So now they're left with embarrassing ideas like this." So much this, chpettit19. And I'll add: if they want to make the game more fun/interesting, they sure as hell better start with making their product available to watch. This time of year I can watch what feels like 8-10 NHL games on a given night on Hulu, but during the baseball season it's nearly crickets other than ESPN's Sunday night game and a random Yankees/BoSox matchup. Nobody will get excited about it if all they are watching is replays.
  11. Exactly this- mostly keeping people who already know what's going on (St Peter, Falvey, Zoll) to make any transition to new ownership more smooth knowing they are probably going to be let go once that happens. Makes me think of Office Space lol
  12. Guy who was constantly injured... I see what you did there lol
  13. I too feel like someone from outside the org would be nice to have. Fresh eyes on this organization would be a good thing after nearly a decade of the same thought processes, etc.
  14. Mauer and his ownership group, The "4-6-3 GIDP Brotherhood" I'll see myself out. ;)
  15. I have no idea how to answer that, but from a player perspective if you don't want the ChiSox or Rays spending less that 40 mil a year on a roster a salary floor would be a way to keep the player pool as a whole better compensated. It may not work that way, which is why I pose the thought. Just throwing stuff at a wall here. I obviously have no control over any of this, but all I know is that I am seeing less and less options of being able to watch my favorite baseball team over these last few years. I went to two of the Seattle games in May and had a great time. But neither of my kids can watch them consistently unless they are on a national broadcast, so their interest is pretty fair overall. Hard to want to plan a trip as a family to go see them when they don't know who half the players are because they've made no attachments to them by watching them play on TV. Kind of goes along with the theme others here have mentioned: MLB needs to figure out a way to garner more interest in MLB in order to grow the sport.
  16. I can't help but wonder if as part of all of this there will be some push, assumed by the player's union, for some sort of a salary floor and cap to ensure a more guaranteed money pool for the players. It would seem logical to me on the surface at least, as it would provide the players some security that teams would have to spend a certain amount and maybe even help to narrow the gap between the top and bottom teams. More competition should mean better ratings, etc? Maybe? Hell I don't know, this looks to get worse before better for sure.
  17. Egad, that's a lot of arbitration eligible guys for one year isn't it? Regardless, that makes it seem like even a hold at the current salary levels will force the FO to move on from some players. I'd really like to see them keep the core pitching staff intact if able, but worry they'll get rid of the higher end guys like Ryan, Ober, Sands, Duran etc. Hopefully that's just the bad taste of this season still in my mouth. Feels like it's going to get ugly before it gets better.
  18. I might be able to lend some info regarding plantar fasciitis (PF), given I treat this almost daily at my job. It's caused by a combination of many things, and it can be seemingly very random. You actually were in the ballpark (pardon the pun) above: PF can affect both feet, sometimes both at one time and sometimes one right after the other. I have a hunch this may have played a part with Correa's situation, and also why everyone was like WTAF?! when it happened again this season. PF affects everyone differently and this is only an attempt to give info. Example: a long time ago my mother in law had PF really bad in one foot for almost a year. Then one day she woke up and it was gone... but had flared up big time in her opposite foot. Another year goes by and it went away and... it's been gone for over ten years now. I've seen this plenty of times in clinic. It wasn't surprising to me when it came out he was dealing with PF in his other foot. Regardless, this is just one guy with a clinical background giving some factual and personal observations. And there's a lot more to it than just this as well depending on the situation.
  19. That's rather poetic as the Twins have literally been unwatchable for a lot of us this season lol
  20. I'd wager they've had many fatal losses in recent memory...
