  1. Guardians got very lucky. With 2 strikes they thrrew Royce back to back heaters and he just missed them. His plate discipline on the slider was there but they waited two pitches to go back to it. Once he continues developing laying off bad pitches hes gonna be so damn good.
  2. This explains it. Damage control of their Ohtani stupidity.
  3. My logical guess was correct. Itll be standings as of Thursday morning. So basically two more days of results to impact records
  4. Id take Martin over Grichuk/Bader 100%. But I just dont think the Twins go that route.
  5. Per what I read, the rule was that once you have placed one claim successfully you move to the back. Rules have changed over the years but I cant find anything saying that is no longer the rule. Could be wrong though.
  6. Thats what Im not sure of, youd think it would be end of day tomorrow records since thats when the player gets added.
  7. Just to specifiy the "all of it" is the 1 month rate of the full season contract. So not much for any of them. Why did the Angels cut Giolito? They coulda at least QO and got a draft pick in the off season. Odd considering the awful trade they made to get him.
  8. Mixed. Of contenders the ones in front of us are Marlins, Reds, Giants, Dbacks and Red Sox. I believe since we are leading our division the record tiebreaker with Dbacks and Red Sox goes to them(althouhg not positive). Guardians cant be dicks and blocks us. They move to back of the pack since they already claims Laureano a couple weeks ago.
  9. Luckily its record based though and has nothing to do with us leading our division. So basically any AL wild card team with even a punchers chance has better record than us. Marlins, Reds, Giants, Dbacks are the ones to watch. They all still alive and can get relievers from us. And I definitely see a few of them wanting those relievers.
  10. Grichuk is a massive upgrade as a lefty only specialist. Renfroe isnt hitting htis year so I wouldnt give him a roster spot. Youre about the pitchers. One of the NL wild card fringers will jump in and take them Im guessing.
  11. Its an abomination if we dont go for Grichuk(cant help it if a worse team wants him due to priority) .323/.388/.559 vs lefties We picked up Jordan freaking Luplow for gods sake. RUN. Matt Moore and Reynaldo Lopez both nice options too
  12. If the Twins win the world series this year Ill venmo everyone who likes this post $200
  13. That team was already decimated by injuries though and the Guardians had about 45 regression canidates last year. So of course *knock on wood* we could fall into 10 injuries in the next 2 weeks or something. Or Kwan and Co can all find their syringes/astros cheating equipment again to revert back to unsustainable production. But the situations through Aug 30th this year is much different than last.
  14. Arraez second half numbers are pretty woooof. Still rooting for Luis but this is why I loved the trade He sadly has knees that havent proven to hold up for a full season and his offense(with lack of D) is dependent on absurdly high average to even be a top 15 OPS because there is zero slug. Saw an interesting stat 50 game batting average stretch Betts .400 average with a .769 slug Arraez .399 avergae with a .492 slug
  15. Agree with all you said. My biggest Main things would be resting guys like Correa. He needs to give that foot some time off when games stop mattering. Other vets as well. Id use the time to get Buxton and AK at bats to get up to speed for October but also ease them in smartly with injuries. Be smart with Lopez and Grays innings but dont go too overboard. You dont want to take them out of a year long rhythm and have them go like 8 days between starts regularly. Id more just limit pitches per start. Let the young kids play against lefties and see what they can do. Wallner went yard yesterday. Just give some reps to create October options.
  16. Ive said it on other threads once Kirilloff and even Buxton(assuming hes not just clogging DH to not hit) get back we will have one of the deeper lineups in the playoffs, at least on the AL side. With Pablo and Sonny plus our lineup that will give us a good chance. Have to duck and pray a bit with the bullpen and any starter after those two though.
  17. Im more puzzled by why we have two of them. Thats why Funderburk not being up here confused me. Weve used Winder pretty well. Eat a lot of innings. Not always in complete garbage time either. Seattle(we still came up short), Texas and tonight being games where he gave big innings and allowed us to come back and make it interesting, comeback and win and also shut the door. Im more puzzled by Sands being on the roster. Nothing against him but we have such little confidence in him he is quite literally only used when we believe the game is over. Either up massive and know he cant possibly blow it or down and conceding defeat. I thinkt he closest game I can even really remember him enterting was last week vs Milwaukee down 4 and that was only because Oretega got injured mid inning and we had to scramble and get a pitcher in on the fly. I like having one of them and Winder while hes streaky due to his hittable fastball has eaten a lot of innings and also helped win us games in a role not designed to do that. So hes the one to keep deploying.
  18. Cruise to the victory. Cleveland uses 3 key bullpen arms for the next two games. We use the guy we just called up and our long relief man for 5 innings. Massive. Duran, Jax, Thielbar, Pagan ready to rock for the last two.
  19. Ok no more Maeda. You got 4 out of him. Time for the pen. Hes throwing BP out there. No cheap hits.
  20. Maeda looks awful and Royce needed to go home there. Easy out.
  21. Do I got any new converters on my lock up Royce long term post?!?!?!
  22. THis ump is giving us a few balls that are dead red strikes lol
  23. Funderburk metrics are elite as well. Its not just base line stats. This was a 40 man roster thing and thats it.
  24. But thats the thing, we dont "need it" And Rocco isnt getting canned based off this series or next. If we win 2/3 here we are in a flawless spot. Just wining 1 of 3 while disappointing still leaves us in a fantastic position standings wise.
