  1. Have we gotten Grossman out this year??? Seems like even last weekend when we won the series he was on base all the time.
  2. Ryan looks very good early so thats enouraging
  3. Having Scherzer at 23 pitches with a walk and 3 Ks through 2 innings is awful
  4. Correa lol Guy doesnt even bother working the count now
  5. Royce hitting way too many pop ups.
  6. Jaimedude, I am being 100% when I say this. I would be more optimistic if the Twins annoucned tomorrow that they signed you than Syndergaard. Hes not just awful. Hes like 5 adjectives beyond that. Hes unpitchable With LA 7.16 era with a FIP of 5.52 With CLE 5.40 era with a FIP of 7.35 For the season in 88 innings 6.5 ERA with 6.21 FIP Having an era that high and having the fip be almost identical is astounding. Means hes just truly been bad, not unlucky. He also pitched for two teams well known for developing pitching and turning around other teams failures.
  7. Yeah I 100% get that view. And its even tougher when talking baseball. If you have the forsight to know that 10 years are gonne suck. 162 games all sumer long when nothing else is on.........woof. And the title as some mentioned already isnt as enjoyable if you know ahead of time. Id at least like to have no idea what year the title is haha
  8. Guardians got Moore too They went full fledge assault. Make a run at Twins and block us from adding two arms that would help us in the playoffs big time.
  9. Twins got NO ONE Guardians get Giolito AND Lopez. WOW We massively left the door open with a colassally incompetent last two games and the Guardians said "lets go". I think we are still fine. But this is absolutely a clean house if you fall short type of month
  10. We 100% used Thielbar at the right time, I dont really think someone can aruge that with much concrete support. Only debate was if Gray starts the inning or not and we all know our philosphy was never going to allow that so why bother complaining. 8th inning Jax to Thielbar like you said was correct. You're right on Calhoun having small sample size this year. But he also hit lefties better last year. And the issue with looking at career averages is its factoring in numbers from who a guy was long ago. Especially with the game changing so much hitters are adapting their approaches. Even Mike Trout is completely different then 2012 Mike Trout. So while I completely get the notion that 26 PA is a small sample size. You also cannot point to career when making decisions today as some better gauge. I think with this year and last, plus Funderburk not having a dominant lefty split should have shown it was a shaky call. You are also 100% though that throwing a 3-0 cookie there was mental. The already mentioned splits of Fundy say cut your losses and left him face the righty if need be. Make Calhoun chase.
  11. This is a very good point. However my one counter is that in the "lets play it out scenario" where you mention the mystery box, there is still a chance of being the Royals or Marlins but without the random title or two. Could just be bad with nothing. Definitely understand the idea that 10 years of losing guaranteed would be brutal though. I think the only no brainer scenario would be soemthing that guaranted watchable success. Like "would you take 1 title but the next 10 years are no titles and almost entirely uncompetitive" vs "Roll the dice on playoffs but know your team will make it at least 7/10 years" That would be a no brainer to roll the dice for me. But the OP subject is a real tough one. Cause rolling the dice could still result in a lot of suck. I think as a Minnesota fan across the board its time I take what I can get and I think i would lean gimme that Title and parade.
  12. Yeah its frustrating because as I said, it appears that Rocco(and it could come from the top) simply operates on surface level left vs left. Ive said it in regards to our hitters too. Like he basically assumes at all times that lefties cant hit lefties. Even though many times pitchers are better vs the other handed batter and vice versa from the hitter. Its funny cause the joke over the years is that "Rocco just follows a spreadsheet" or "twins are all analytics" but in reality many of our moves seem to actually ignore any facts on a spreadsheet. But as I said in the OP that one I can at least explain where his decision came from. Its same reason Im not even mad at pulling Gray, personaly I think its dumb to not let Sonny face the bottom til someone reaches but whatever. We have 30ish starts worth of data that say "3rd time through and 80+ pitches Sonny is done". So cant argue it to much because we know its happening. The parts that still baffle me 5 hours later is the Luplow usage today. I still cannot for the life of me figure out what any of that was about. Curious if anyone saw/read his post games if he touched on it?
  13. I just want some input on what they think could be the reasoning for some Rocco today. Let me start with something I understand completely why Rocco made the move. Funderburk for Pagan vs Calhoun. Obviously Rocco wanted left on left. Now personally I disagree with that and think its classic Rocco going short sighted simple minded "see lefty pitch lefty". And funderburks splits along with Calhouns splits side with me. Pagan being our top arm lately also sides with me. But regardless I get where Roccos line of thinking was and its open for differing opinions on what the correct move was. No move was perfect. Same with pulling gray or letting him pitch. I know what Id do. But again, arguments both sides. What baffles me is the moves that are made where I cant even think of why they were done to even start foruming a two sided debate. Like how can I even debate if it was a good move or a bad move if it literally makes no sense. So I will post the Luplow moves and I am open to any and all suggestions about what his thought process may have been. Good or bad thought I just want thoughts. No wrong answers here. 1. Pinch hitting Luplow for Gallo in the 5th with 1st and 2nd 1 out. This isnt a no out spot where you can move the runners and get out. You have to get on base. Gallo walks a lot. Might close his eyes and hit a homer. Luplow is terrible vs righties for his career(even when he was OK for teams) and especially now. So batting him right on right makes no sense. And its more baffling why even start Gallo then. - Currently my two ideas I have are 1. Gallo stinks(Luplow stinking cancels that out though) and 2.Gallo hurt himself. Thats all I got. Open to anyone elses ideas of what could have been a factor. 2. Luplow hitting against another righty in the bottom of the 7th and 1 out, only to be replaced by Michael A Taylor in the top of 8 for Defense. So Taylor in his rest day was healthy enough to immediately play D. But our better hitter couldnt bat immediately before? -Currently I have literally zero explanation for this one. So I am truly open to any potential ideas.
  14. Not using him as a scapegoat. I am just saying that he cannot manage a game and overcome anything around him. That is all. Lot of people get blame. Hes the manager that made ill advised moves so hes at the top of the order. Young guys get no pass either. Some of his decisions though are not just a product of good or bad. Opinion vs opinion depending on how you view strategy. He has decisions where I cant even tell what his thought process was to even try to objectively judge the decision. For example... I am all ears if you have an explanation for me. Why did he let Luplow bat in the bottom of the 7th vs a right hander only to just use Taylor on D in the 8th? Like I have such a headache trying to think of what his logic could have been I just want to know even a long shot possibility. And I fully admit, Taylor batting there likely doesnt result in us scoring that inning but there was only 1 out at the time. So there was a punchers chance...
  15. To be fair, Nothing you said is wrong. But thats the issue with Rocco. We dont have a manager to overcome our deficiences. We dont have that type of coach who has a feel for the game and can pick up the slack. He just adds to it with everything he does. We all should have known he was managing with heat stroke the moment he used Jordan Luplow as a pinch hitter. We somehow just lost the series after winning game 1. Having Lopez and Gray up next. Cleveland having their starter get hurt after 1 inning yesterday. We still lost it. Thats so bad. For everyone. Manager steers the ship. He made numerous decisions that made no sense. He bats Correa in spots to routinely not deliver. Good managers push the right buttons and dont leave fans perplexed as to what even was the button he pushed(luplow).
  16. Forget about Pagan being good Doesnt Calhoun hit lefties well? And Funderburk has reverse splits in AAA Rocco never has any logic behind anything he does.
  17. Yeah thats cause they ruled it dead and everyone stopped playing. He was running to first. DIck keeps complaining while we bat that we coulda appealed to third and its game over. Forgetting that dropped 3rd strike is a thing.
  18. Dick is so senile Yes, Naylor swung. But you have to throw him out at 1B anyways and we wouldnt have.
  19. Im gonna be honest That analogy was so insane it actually made me laugh out loud so I awarded him 1/2 a point in his argument.
  20. Can we let Correa pinch hit for Cleveland here and end it with a DP?
  21. Correa OMG. Hes such an embarrassment by proxy Polanco drawing a lead off walk there is literally a bad AB result. We all knew what was coming. Stop the madness.
  22. Alright guys, 2 objectives until Friday 1. Win this damn game 2. Group prayer circle that somehow we won the waiver claim for Moore or Lopez This FO not adding to our bullpen at the trade deadline is only overshadowed because of what the Angels did at their deadline.
  23. Even more bizarre. If Taylor is good enough to come in to play D. Why the F did Luplow bat the half inning before??
  24. Hes swinging at so many bad pitches. I think today theres been like 3 at his head hes swung at. And last couple games he swung at about 4 that were 6 feet low and away. I think its just a little funk and he will break out of it. But its been a lot of wild swings forsure.
  25. Wallner is a very solid fielder Hes not great yet. But hes super fast for a big guy and tracks the ball pretty well. Since hes so big his lower half is a bit less mobile on initial jumps But hes def no disaster out there.
