  1. Sonny!!! Hell of a start. Cy Young type game
  2. Sonny's late inning struggles are a bit perplexing. Its usually not a product of guys seeing him a 3rd time and rocking him. Or even high pitch counts. He just randomly loses control in the 6th or 7th with low pitch counts. Kinda bizarre.
  3. Oh dont get me wrong im not defending Gallo at all lol But thats a situation where you need a hit or a walk. So unless you are bringing in a good bat to ball singles guy(Solano) theres no point using Luplow over Gallo there. If Joey does anything he walks to load them with 1 out or hits a homer. Luplow is awful vs righties. They said hes 3/22 this year. And at tleast one of those was a position player maybe two of them.
  4. Miles Straw owning Sonny Gray is one of the more random things I have ever seen. Classic baseball oddity Now 5/10 against him and his 1st AB was a deep 3-2 battle ending in Kepler robbing him. DP immediately wipes that out.
  5. I would get it if we had a trashy lineup. But Correa not batting 5th/6th with this team is mental Polanco, Kepler, Royce, Wallner have all earned reps higher in the order with chances to drive each other in.
  6. Polanco!!! What a F'ing month he has had
  7. Yeah its not even that it was a righty on the mound. Solano? Sure I get it. But Luplow???? Madness. Ive said it before. Luplow would be benched on a little league baseball team if hitting righties was all he was allowed to do. Wild.
  8. Jordan Luplow pinch hitting for Gallo cannot be a good indictment on his staying power on this team. It doesnt even make sense with it being a spot where you dont need a productive out. So 3 run homer or walk or fine. And Luplow vs righties is terrible. And hes a much less productive hitter than Gallo. Mind boggling
  9. Jeffers in a funk right now(only a few games) but he is swinging at some absolutely wild pitches.
  10. Bro hes sitting one game haha His hamstring is tender and its a day game after a night game. Nothing more to it.
  11. One of the biggest games of the year and all CC had to do was advance a runner and we have a 1-0 lead with Sonny dealing
  12. Seriously, Correa isnt even productively advancing runners.... Like the one time his patented Ground ball to second would work. He looks at a ball down the middle.
  13. This is a typical Sonny start. Poor guy rarely gets run support. Friday vs Texas as a nice treat. As I type though, big lead off double by Jorge. Cmon guys!
  14. Buxton and AK debut for the Saints tonight. So Luplow and Gallo both are on notice. Luplow roster spot is toast. Gallo still not sure if he will just sit at end of bench or be DFA'd. But his path to PT is about to be gone Because Buck/Taylor take center and AK/Solano take 1st.
  15. Gallo starting currently with this roster isnt mind boggling simply because of personel. Hes the only back up center fielder. Unless you want Luplow who is a worse hitter and fielder with a righty on the mound. Taylor has a bum hamstring so hes getting rest occaisionally. And Kepler refuses to play CF per what was reported earlier in the year. So it has to be Gallo. When Buxton and Kirilloff return. His PT will be non existent though. Because those are both spots he currently backs up.
  16. Irrelevent to this game but just saw the score of Sox vs Os Seems like Dylan Cease has completely phoned it in since the Sox blew it all up
  17. On the flip side. Quick outs from Bibee is not what we need
  18. Quick outs Sonny is what we need. Hoping for another deep start.
  19. I just dont get keeping Correa batting in spots with men on base he cant do it. Let him play elite D and bat 6th or 7th.
  20. Stays great in the 1st Way to pitch around it Sonny
  21. Yikes bad start. I think that is only the 2nd leadoff hit Sonny has given up all year. Maybe the 3rd. I know hes very good against the first batter and 1st inning overall
  22. Apparently you are only reading my posts and only some of them in this thread haha Both things you have quoted me on have already been mentioned
  23. Well, as far as that goes. You would technically be right but also you wouldnt have to look very hard. Because Mondays game was the first game all year Jeffers has played back to back as a catcher(He has DH'd a couple times). He did go 0-4 though haha. But yeah the numbers are clear at the very least that its damaging for Ryan and Lopez. Huge sample sizes too. Lopez may have to do with his curve because he does spike it a lot and Jeffers is vrey good with those. Like I said in the long post though, I am curious though to see how we go for the rest of the year and if Jeffers going back to back becomes a new trend. And regardless these are just more stats that show come October no more committee. Vazquez should be 100% emergency back up.
  24. IDK for some reason I was told that I have to provide the proof. When I said our own team beat writers have tweeted it out before. But its been stated many times that a few of our starters are much better with Jeffers than Vazquez. Since apparently a couple individuals were too lazy just to go to baseball reference and instead wanted to call me a liar, here we are. Wasnt looking for a huge debate just literally stated what Twins writers have reported. Lopez: Jeffers: 78 1/3 2.87 ERA .583 OPS 5.53 K/BB Vazquez(before tonight): 80 1/3 4.37 ERA .750 OPS 4.22 K/BB Gray Jeffers: 70 1/3 3.58 ERA .597 OPS 2.42 K/BB Vazquez 79 2/3 2.60 ERA .632 OPS 3.67 K/BB Maeda Jeffers: 21 1/3 5.06 ERA .690 OPS 8.33 K/BB Vazquez: 57 1/3 4.55 .765 OPS 3.67 K/BB Ober: Jeffers: 55 1/3 3.58 ERA .758 OPS 4.91 K/BB Vazquez: 67 1/3 3.74 ERA .678 OPS 4.4 K/BB Ryan Jeffers: 63 2/3 2.40 ERA .569 OPS 6.6 K/BB Vazquez 67 1/3 6.15 ERA .865 OPS 5.47 K/BB Varland Jeffers: 17 2/3 3.57 ERA .718 OPS 4.75 K/BB Vazquez: 38 1/3 6.10 ERA .905 OPS 2.92 K/BB Keuchel too small too post. His only start with Vazquez was the Dbacks start so technically better in that. Anyways. Kinda insane I had to go through all this. I just remember sports writers tweeting out back when Joe got hurt about how much worse him and Pablo are with Vazquez. Apparently I cant just say that without providing proof as if I get paid to report data. But here it is just as my memory served. I also stated on the game thread that Gray is better with Vazquez but most of that was April Gray. Either way here is everyones data. Two of our 3 best starters are Cy Young caliber with Jeffers and Jason Lyles with Vazquez. Ober and Maeda are basically a wash ERA wise(maeda with jeffers ballooned yesterday basically). Gray is great with both. Better ERA wise with Vazquez but April inflated and if you want to look it up his Jeffers numbers are the two bad innings pre all star(Balt) and post(seattle). Hes truly really good with both. The only pitcher to allow a higher opponent OPS with Jeffers as their catcher is Ober. The only pitcher with a better K/BB rate with Vazquez is Gray. Overall our 6 starters with the most innings have vastly performed better with Jeffers and the only one with a ERA even over 4 with Jeffers is Maeda. Now to not be called out again for "proof" I also heard a stat during one of the games in Seattle(it was the one on FS1 cause their telecast gave it) at that time they said Jeffers was also the best catcher in baseball at blocking balls in the dirt at 100%....jinx and he missed one like right away. But per that stat hes also a better catcher there. Again, cant prove that one sorry doubters, maybe you Tivo'd the game. Anyways theres the data. And its key not just for those like me who are dreading what we will do with 2 more years of a guy who we know cant hit but clearly handles a staff worse, but a bigger key going forward for when anyone wonders why "so and so is off tonight" check the catcher first. Hopefully yesterday with Jeffers finally playing 2 in a row was a sign that down the stretch he will catch more. Below apparently this was also an issue in Boston.
  25. Go ask Do-Hyong Park the twins beat writer and Dan Hayes. Both have tweeted them out multiple times. Or you go do the math yourself. Either way im right its up to you if you want to believe me. Or just go look at every game Ryan and Lopez pitches and compare catchers. All of it not hard. I just gave the info.
