  1. It's so funny how most of the league indicates that baseball managers are incredibly unimportant.
  2. I agree that people will be very down on the franchise next year. The disappointment will come when the young players struggle (like young players do) and the trade deadline sends away what remaining talent the Twins have. Right or wrong, the manager is going to take some of this and if Falvey gets fired, the new GM may want their own manager.
  3. This is another player that you might as well play until you have someone else who beats him out for a spot.
  4. I have zero issues with Austin Martin getting the Brooks Lee treatment for now. He was a top 5 pick for a reason and he should play until another player comes around that proved to be better than he is. Hopefully Jenkins and Rodriguez battle for spots on the roster next spring and suddenly you have to figure out how to play Martin, Buxton, Jenkins and Rodriguez as much as possible. Only good things come from that.
  5. Happy to see these guys get consistent at bats. I feel like it is something young players need. Especially if you are going to be conservative with them moving through your system.
  6. Rocco finding more ways to make less decisions. Doesn't develop. Doesn't coach. You'd think you could find a cheaper manager who is willing to be a lame duck.
  7. It's not but if he doesn't believe in the advice he is being given, I can understand why he is hesitant to make changes. I guess I am understanding of players not believing in the coaching and development being provided by the team when I also don't believe in it.
  8. My guess is Lewis is trying to find a way to say "I am not taking advice from a crappy coach like Rocco" without saying that exact phrase.
  9. I think you could speculate that there are issues between Lewis and Rocco.
  10. Good news. I don't believe there is more he needs to prove at the AA level.
  11. This team is not competing until it is sold. In it's current form, the Twins are back to the trade, develop, years of controllable years, trade cycle.
  12. Jeffers yes, maybe add another C I could see them bringing back Clemens at 1B Keaschall, Lee, and Lewis...return. Buxton, Wallner, and Kiersey return. Probably Outman and Fitzgerald as well. If they trade some combination of Lopez, Ober and Ryan, they will just move up pitchers they already have. The bullpen will likely see some adds, but they could just reset some of the AAA guys like Raya to a relief role. Larnach might get moved but again, I think there are options they will want to move up vs adding a vet,
  13. Trading Pablo's salary isn't a must, but it seems like the most cost impactful move. It will be an easier trade to make than Ryan. There are young, cheap arms to bring up to back fill the rotation. It will be the same with Ober. A Ryan trade would have nothing to do with salary, but instead be a compensation move. The tough part is it will be a very scrutinized deal and a difficult one to do. Also, new partners might be less inclined to be ok with getting rid of one of the two most recognizable players the Twins have. The idea is to pay off the debt that is making the sale unattractive, and prepare for the potential lockout. Not necessarily deal everyone of value.
  14. Agree that this shouldn't be a shock. I imagine some FAs will be added to the bullpen and that is probably it. They are going to let the young players play. There aren't many spots where it makes sense to add cheap MLB vets. It's largely going to be the same team we are seeing now.
  15. Base loaded, 0 outs. Twins score 2. Progress?
  16. Wallner is another one where he only has 744 career ABs. Just play the dude every day at the end of a lost season, and let him show you who he is. Wallner, Lewis, Lee, Keaschall, Jeffers, and Larnach all probably should just be added to the lineup every day unless they need a break. You can rotate the Outman's and Fitgerald's and Clemens and whomever else with each other to fill things out. Maybe my mind on this changes if someone gets called up (Fedko maybe?) but for now, let the young guys work through it.
  17. Yup. I am not knowledgeable enough to know if it is best for him to get demoted to work on his hitting or grind through it at the MLB level, but I feel like understanding how MLB teams are attacking you and adjusting to it is something you work on at the MLB level. I am giving him that shot as long as I can until a better player forces me to move on from Lewis.
  18. I think that is fair, but IMO if I am critiquing the team, I can only critique the players currently on it.
  19. I am saying that there are numerous examples of prospects who turned out to be good MLB players that had similar stats as Brooks Lee has this year at a similar career at bat total. I'm not saying Brooks Lee will get better, but it is about 600 ABs too early to start trying to have this convo IMO.
  20. CJ Abrams in his first 847 at bats put up very similar numbers in OBP, SLG and OPS as Brooks Lee has put up this season.
