    Absolutely. It's so important for a shaky pitcher to be given a lead so they don't feel like they have to be perfect.

    Clemens is a feel-good story that, when the hard decisions come, the FO makes the correct decision and DFA him and thank him for his contribution. With that being said, I don't see a reason to rush Keashall's recovery or rushing up Eeles provided Clemens can still provide good AB's and good defense. It also doesn't look like Fitzgerald or Julien have really pushed the needle requiring a change with Clemens at the moment.

    Absolutely well said. The only thing I would like to add to this it is opining whether this trade as made the FO a little gun shy when it comes to making future deadline deal trades that we have been screaming for the past two years and likely will with the upcoming deadline.

    When Bader was signed, he was signed to be a sub for Buxton when he needed a day off and a defensive replacement for Larnach or Wallner in the outfield late in games. We have been blessed this season that Bader has hit out of his skis, especially since we really needed him at the beginning of the season to produce above his norms. If Bader is starting to go back to his norms, then his playing time will likely diminish back to what it was intended to be at the beginning of the season and that's fine. I still think there will be plenty of AB's to go around. Wallner is still coming back from injury. Anybody can get into a hitting drought and need a day off or two. I also don't think Rocco can contain himself and start Bader over one of Larnach or Wallner when southpaws are on the mound, even though both have been getting more AB's against lefties.

    I believe the Players Association had previously threatened a grievance over this. As we know, RP are paid the least in terms of positions on the field compared to starters that are paid very well even if they are terrible. When the Rays started the "opener" trend, there had been bullpen games before, but they were rare compared to what we see now. Changing subjects, I am disappointed that they didn't rip the band aid off of Alcala. I would have liked to see if Adams could have provided 2+ innings of relief to save the bullpen on certain days. I remember back in the day where teams had pitchers like Oliver Perez or even the Twins when they had Swarzak that could pitch multiple innings or even spot start if needed.

    The only thing that Eeles brings as an improvement over the current roster is his speed. But we are also relying on a knee that is coming back from surgery to produce that speed. If we look a month or two down the road at Eeles is tearing the ball off, stealing bases, and providing good defense, we can re-examine this as he will likely be better than both Bride and Clemens. It is also likely that Keaschall will be back by this time. Since they released Ford in AAA, Miranda has also been getting the majority of appearances at 1B so it's possible that once Miranda can show that he can hit again that he may be the next call up to replace Bride and give another option for France in case he needs a day off or an injury occurs.

    I'm hoping that Lewis has finally put his cape away and found that the best way forward is to be part of a chorus rather than think that he has to be the hero. His AB's over the last week seem to indicate that he is willing to take walks, not swing at bad pitches, and finally thinking that maybe that soft broken bat single will finally put some confidence back in him. I'm glad that bat died a hero.

    Getting back to how this affects the rotation. You now have a full rotation of guys that are wild cards in terms of how long they will go in a game. Some games will be 4-5 innings, some games will be 6-7, but there won't be much in consistency. Many of us are hoping that Adams can come in and be a swingman that can pitch multiple innings and save a bullpen even though he has yet to throw a pitch in the majors. The Twins may also have a roster crisis looming in the bullpen. Considering Coloumbe took Zebby's spot on the roster, the Twins will need to make a roster move prior to activating SWR from St. Paul. Assuming you're not moving Duran, Jax, Varland, Stewart, Sands, and Coloumbe, that leaves us Adams, Topa, and Alcala as options to move off the roster. Of those three, Alcala is the only one out of options. You'd think they would want to keep Adams on the roster as he now has a real purpose as explained above. Topa does have options and is a more back of the bullpen arm. Further down the line is Tonkin looming as he is coming back from the IL. He appears to be on track for late June, barring any additional setbacks. Since he is on the 60-day IL, he'll require a 40-man move as well

    When the Twins refused to make the knockout blow, I kept waiting for the Blue Jays to make that comeback. Thankfully, the comeback didn't come. Great job to the bullpen after yesterday's clunker.

    I didn't word that properly. Adams is still on the roster. They put Zebby on the IL and recalled Coloumbe from his IL stint in St. Paul. I'm saying another roster move has to be made prior to SWR rejoining the club on Tuesday so someone has to get taken of the active roster. Who that may be remains to be seen. I would like to be Alcala since I think we are going to need a swingman like Adams with the number of pitchers we now have that struggle to get past 5 innings.

    I'd like to agree, but someone has to get moved off the roster. Coloumbe took Zebby's spot on the roster. Is this the time that Alcala finally gets DFA'd? I guess we will find out Tuesday.

    It could be worse! Top 5 and the White Sox are leading the Royals 3-1 after beating them last night.

    And, as @Doc Lenz has said, Duran is likely done for tomorrow as well. Ew, just heard an Alcala sighting warming up in the bullpen.
