  1. Royals lost. Guardians won. So 3.5 out. This week will be interesting. Royals get the gift of White Sox. Tigers get Texas before going to Minneapolis. Guardians go to Boston. My goal would be 9-11 or 10-10 at the 20 game mark.
  2. Not just basing it off today but I wish they'd move off Thielbar once everyone is healthy and ready to go. Sands deserves to stick around. And I doubt they dump Jackson with his guaranteed K.
  3. Still too many strikeouts especially looking. There's no plan right now at the plate. The common denominator continues to skate by.
  4. Buxton needs to wake up at the plate with Correa and Lewis out. That narrative last year about not playing in the field impacting his hitting, it's looking like pure nonsense.
  5. Also, Baez should not have seen a pitch that wasn't bounced to home plate. Three run lead. Don't even come close to the zone. Unforced mistakes across the board today.
  6. This. Thought for sure Thielbar would come in and face Carpenter. Very odd decision by Rocco or maybe it isn't odd considering his track record.
  7. Yesterday, a lot of positive vibes. Today, none. That's baseball though. Gotta manage to win the series in Baltimore and come home for two very winnable series.
  8. While this team is better on paper than the team in 2021, this season is bringing back unpleasant memories of a group that started slow and never got on track. The division figures to give the Twins every opportunity to get right but games like this one sting.
  9. Long term, if you have Funderburk and Okert, there is zero reason to have Thielbar on the roster. I don't think he's going anywhere though and that's a mistake.
  10. But again, they scored three runs. There were chances to extend the lead a little bit. Pitching will keep them in games but games like today will happen when you have an anemic offense.
  11. When Thielbar is bad, he's horrifically bad.
  12. Wasn't Margot supposed to be good defensively? It's surprising too because the Rays typically preach fundamentally sound baseball. He's the opposite thus far.
  13. Thielbar back. Alcala optioned. A little surprised that they're carrying three lefties at least for the time being. I thought Alcala looked good.
  14. Correa injury is now being described as a mild right intercostal strain. Seems to be different and better than an oblique injury.
  15. This team was 2 games under .500 on Memorial Day last year. They can top that.
  16. Also no one in this division is running away and hiding. Guardians look different when they aren't playing Oakland and the White Sox. Tigers line up is whole and they're still worse than the Twins current iteration. Royals are playing decent but they don't have nearly enough. Just stay at .500 until Correa and Lewis go back, then go on a run.
  17. 6-7... Things could be a lot worse. Lost in the justified angst about the injuries and hitting, this pitching staff could be good. Really good. Lopez will round into form as the weather warms. Bullpen reinforcements on the way. Ryan looks world's better than last year. The staff is good enough for this to be a .500 team. If someone in the lineup can just get hot enough to carry them for a couple of weeks, they'll be fine.
  18. There's plenty of stories about professional athletes who lost millions, if not everything, because they let the wrong people manage their finances. It is not out of the realm of possibility that Ohtani wasn't at all aware of what was going on. But... What I find interesting is that his agent was aware of the account and asked Ippei about on multiple occasions. The agent wasn't implicated. So, that begs the question for me. What was the deal with the agent? Did he accept Ippei at face value and never mentioned it to Ohtani? That's where it gets murky for me. I would suspect the agent would've given his client a head's up...
  19. Something lost in the homestand is that the pitching, at least as of now, isn't a big cause for concern. Once the bullpen is at 100%, the Twins are going to be able to shorten and win a lot of close games.
  20. All things considered, 4-6 isn't too bad. Bats have to start waking up but encouraging signs from Ober and Paddack. Bullpen is getting healthy. Onto Detroit.
  21. Okert. Some serious white knuckle time.
  22. Inexcusable. Rocco needs to do better.
  23. Castro was such a shot in the arm last season. Total opposite this year.
  24. Also, I can't stand Joe Kelly.
