  1. Creating this topic for the expressed written purpose of having a space for any tweets / posts / articles you may find about when Buxton will be back in the major-league lineup.
  2. Colome's first pitch is always, always, always a ramrod straight low 90s fastball to the exact geometric center of the strike zone.
  3. This bothers me too, but I also know that different people have different aptitude for learning second languages as adults. Some people can work really hard at it and never get any good at the pronunciation of a second language. Not saying that Dick has worked really hard at it, or that he hasn't.
  4. It's hard for a left fielder to screw up three times on one fly ball, but he did it. Tried to leap for a ball 12 feet up the wall. Jogged to pick it up. Threw home when the runner had already scored and the play was at third. What are we teaching in the minors?
  5. If anyone here missed it, the pitch that Ramirez hammered was basically batting practice.
  6. This is partly on the manager. Sequencing your lineup and pinch hitters so that you give yourself the best chance of getting a clutch hit is a baseball manager's job. A baseball manager can't do too much in terms of tactices, but they can give their team like a 1% greater or lesser chance of success about 4-10 times per game. The great managers consistently get that 4-10% to swing in their own favor, and the bad managers screw it up repeatedly.
  7. Donaldson shouldn't hit right after Arraez with his propensity to hit into double plays. Polanco should hit second.
  8. Sometimes you have to rewrite your blog post a little more extensively than this.
  9. Why is it, when you play the White Sox, that Jose Abreu gets to bat like every other hitter. That's not fair.
  10. This is what I get for joking around with a Twins reliever on the mound.
  11. Is that Dave Dahl the professional baseball left fielder or noted Twin Cities meteorologist Dave Dahl out there, folks?
  12. I think I just heard shade from Dick. "He'll face Ramirez and Rosario - provided he can retire Luplow without the winning run scoring."
  13. I honestly wanted it to end there. Less painful.
  14. This game will end with an Eddie Rosario walk-off. It has been foretold.
  15. Not much conversation at first base between Eddie and Kirlloff?
  16. You're right, I remember that now. He has looked more lost lately than he did back then. I love Sano and I really hope he pulls it together.
  17. RE: Kirilloff, I feel like the Twins' prospects don't reach the majors as well prepared as other teams' prospects. If you're Houston or Tampa Bay you can call up one of your top prospects (Carlos Correa, Yordan Alvarez, Randy Arrozarena) and they're contributing very soon. But the Twins' prospects - at least their hitters - always look totally raw and at a loss when they get called up. That was how Buxton and Sano looked when they were first called up, and it's how Kirlloff looks now. Do we teach pitch selection in the minors? Kirlloff started his days by swinging at a couple of unhittable low sliders. Buxton and Sano had the same issue.
  18. Send down Cave and Rooker, call up Kirilloff and Broxton. That's what I'd do, but then my only GMing quals are fantasy baseball.
  19. That would have been Donaldson at third if he had not been pinch-run for by Blankenhorn in the previous inning. Blankenhorn did score...on Buxton's home run. If I were Rocco Baldelli I think I would just quit. Literally every discretionary move he makes goes as badly as possible.
  20. Baldelli can't sign new relievers, but he could go back to using Rogers as his highest-leverage reliever (i.e., often the closer) and Duffey as the 2nd-highest-leverage reliever (i.e., often the setup man).
