  1. I know people have a bias against picking A ball players for the Twins minor league pitcher of the year but Lewis would be my choice so far. And Zebby Matthews a close 2nd as he only had that one terrible game after getting moved up to High A. Great article Ted.
  2. Our minor league teams have been winning a lot this week and then all of them lose yesterday. Seems like every week we have a clean sweep of the other teams and also a day when we get swept. Kind of odd. Enlow with a good three innings and then "welcome to AAA!" Let's see how he adjusts next week.
  3. Our DH's were very productive and the team was scoring 4+ runs every game at the end of last week and beginning of this week. Now the team can't score much again...............what changed? Just saying.
  4. Maeda seemed to have 4 really good innings and then started the 5th 1B, BB, BB. Maybe he ran out of gas building back up?? The Saints look good to me. Larnach, Wallner, Williams all over .950 OPS. Miranda back from the dead when he was batting .129. 39-27 record. This is a year to be watching the Saints.
  5. Congrats to Cedar Rapids. Kind of amazing with seemingly half of the lineup hitting near the Mendoza line. They are top 3 in the league in ERA but, amazingly to me, they are also in the top half of most of the offensive stats as well. Zebby Matthews bounces back from a bad game and pitches great. I'm beginning to think their manager, Brian Dinkelman, is really good. His teams win every year.
  6. With approval of the MLB Commissioner, a player on a minor league Domestic Reserve List can be placed on the Development List if the player is at the parent organization's Minor League Spring Training Complex or at a club-approved training facility for the purpose(s) of development and/or conditioning. NOTE: As part of his development and/or conditioning, a player on the Development List can remain with his minor league club and take batting practice, fielding practice, throw bullpen side sessions, and/or serve as a bullpen catcher, batting practice pitcher, or base coach. 7. Rocco just announced that the Twins are doing a bullpen game tomorrow.
  8. Rosario is amazing this year. Clubbed a two run homer early. Then, the other teams pitchers got scared of him, walking him three times. When they start doing that, maybe it's time to move up one level.
  9. They would find a spot for him and DFA him when the regular catchers are healthy and a spot is needed on the 40 man. They did that with Godoy and other veteran catchers last year.
  10. I disagree because Wolters will simply be DFA'd when our catchers are healthy and probably get to go back to St. Paul. Camargo is playing well enough that the Twins may not want to DFA him as someone else may claim him. This is all about the 40 man roster. Camargo is better but is actually too good and young IMO. The odd reality of the roster games all teams have to play.
  11. Agreed on Wolters. Camargo as a catcher, yes. Williams as a catcher, no. That is a big problem for him to get called up which is the same problem Isola has. If either was a good catcher, they would be on track for MLB.
  12. I would say the same thing, a bit NW of the Cities.
  13. Half the time. He is terribly inconsistent. One game is great and the next terrible and it keeps going like that, which is why his ERA is high.
  14. He was out of the 5th inning with a double play grounder, giving up only 1 run. But the infield botched the double play, which would have ended the inning, and 3 runs score. Keep Varland in the rotation, let Maeda build up to enter the pen, and cut Pagan.
  15. I believe he is eligible for the Rule 5 draft this winter and teams love to take pitchers in that (ex - Tyler Wells). Sounds like you are saying Grace is good so we have to put him on the 40 man or, IMO, he will get nabbed in the draft.
  16. Rodriguez will be on the 40 man roster next year. No way they let him get away in the Rule 5 draft.
  17. 2024 - Because of injuries, I don't see Polanco on the Twins. I think it will be Julien with Farmer taking AB's against lh's and replacing Julien on D late in games. Julien will have the same opportunity as Miranda had this year. If he doesn't get it done, one of Martin or Lee will probably be ready to overtake him at 2B. Having the oft injured Buxton doesn't give the Twins a chance to have another potentially oft injured player like Polanco (3 IL stints already this year) on the roster.
  18. Last nights game may be a little misleading. My assumption is that the opponent pitched their worst pitchers the last half of the game, after the game got out of control. Williams got 3 home runs in the first 4 innings. Celestino was 0 for 3 during those innings. All three hits came after that. Still good that he is hitting. I'm just thinking these guys were guys that aren't as good.
  19. Runs galore from our teams last night and Rosario is really having a great season at Cedar Rapids.
  20. Twins hitters are hot the last 4 games. Bux, take your time to heal so you can play CF as our DH's are producing.
  21. Far better. He plays SS because that's where you get the most fielding attempts. Martin can play play 2B, LF and CF. When Martin is healthy, if he starts playing CF a lot, that will tell us a lot about Buxton. Buxton staying at DH can really help Martin's career.
  22. Agreed. That's my biggest problem with Buxton as the full-time DH. Miranda, Julien, Wallner (and guys like them who better bats than D) would then be forced to play on D all the time in order to play in the future. Encarnocion-Strand, who we traded away, has always projected as a DH because of his horrible D. But he has pounded minor league pitching at all levels. Not sure that translates to MLB but if it does, great hitters with no D like him need a DH spot. And the Twins need to get more hitters in the lineup.
  23. Yes, kind of amazing with some of the hitting #'s from guys like Urbina, Salas and even Miller.
  24. You must not have watched the game yesterday. Varland got them to hit a perfect double play grounder and the infielders totally botched it. That would have been 5 innings with 1 run given up then. And you want to cut him. Ridiculous!
  25. Wow, breaking news, Enlow going to St. Paul. I saw his stats today and was just going to type that it is time for him to move up. The Saints have more and more players that are fun to watch. Poor Wichita, a 23-33 record. Enlow is gone and how long before Severino, Lee and Kiersey move up..................... I don't think the replacements will be near as talented as them and the bottom half of that Wind Surge lineup is not doing well (might be a rough 2nd half for the Wind Surge fans in attendance). Sabato, the time is now for you to hit for this team!
