Just my 2 cents. I'm sure I'm in the minority, but I'm in the camp that thinks that we're babying him just a little too much. I don't see why he's not out there in CF a few games during ST. If he can DH/bat, and run the bases, he can play the outfield. He could get a HBP and be out the whole season too. He got hurt last year sliding into 2nd base, not out in CF. Is he injury prone? Yep. He's sure proven that. I'd be willing to bet he comes up with something again this year that causes him to miss time. I don't think that's going to change. It can happen to anyone. Buxton should take some turns at DH...AND...play the field.

I find it interesting, that these players that were more or less considered main pieces of our team last season...Sano, Sanchez, Archer, and Bundy...can't even swing a minor league deal with some team this year. Yes, Sano was hurt, but Sanchez was our regular catcher. He wasn't great, but he wasn't abysmal either. We trotted Archer and Bundy out to the mound all last season! Haven't heard a single thing about Sano, Sanchez, or Archer. Bundy just got a minor league deal with the Mets. Sano is the most surprising. I figured he would at least get some team taking a minor league flyer on him.

I'm more than willing to give him a handful of starts in the regular season, and see what happens. Is it possible that he struggles? Sure, but let's make that decision down the road a bit. For now, it's a concern, but not overwhelmingly so. If he gets killed in his first 4-5 starts, then you have to pull him and get Ober, or someone else in there. I'm just as concerned with Mahle, as I am with Maeda. We've got some depth on the staff, but we still have some question marks right now.

Can't wait to see him back with the team and playing. He deserves it after what he's been through. Back to back ACL's on the same knee, is just an incredibly bad coincidence. He's overdue for some good things to happen.

Injury Concerns Are (Sigh) Already Mounting for the Twins
CRF replied to Nick Nelson's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Definitely concerned about Polanco's knee. It sure appears he's going to be IL when the season starts. It's not trending in the right direction. We have the depth to cover it, but it would be great to have Polo in there.- 96 replies

Digging Into Carlos Correa's Second Half Swing Adjustments
CRF replied to Lou Hennessy's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Let's hope so. I'd love to see it. -
I'm not taking a sip of any kool-aid until I see how the first 40-50 games go. I also want to see if Rocco has learned anything. Then, we'll see. If injuries don't blow us out of the water again, we should know something by then.

Here are Five Options If Alex Kirilloff Misses Time
CRF replied to Adam Friedman's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I think Gallo is definitely the best overall option to play 1B, if Kirilloff can't go...and have the other guys in LF. My second choice would be to have Julien at 1B. Solano is best suited as a utility guy.- 50 replies

Twins 2023 Position Analysis: Left Field
CRF replied to Nick Nelson's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I'm not a real fan of Gallo, but if he can somehow hit .225 or so, with 35 hr's, 90 ribbys, and 80 bb's...he'd be worth the flyer we took on him. Probably too much to ask for him to hit his weight. He'd win comeback player of the year. I suppose then he'd be looking for a big multi year contract either with us or someone else.- 24 replies

Can Edouard Julien Hit Enough to Stick at Second?
CRF replied to Greggory Masterson's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
If he can hit the way everyone seems to think he can...they're gonna have to find a spot for him. Who's to say his defense won't improve, if he works at it. -

Twins 2023 Position Analysis: First Base
CRF replied to Nick Nelson's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
At some point, KIrilloff has to get out there and see if he can play. Hopefully soon. If he hasn't even faced live pitching yet, he's got a ways to go. If Kirilloff can't make it, it'll probably be a different guy every game at first. I kind of like the Julien idea at 1B. That might be a great way to get his bat in the line up.- 41 replies

Twins 2023 Position Analysis: Catcher
CRF replied to Nick Nelson's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I think at this point, Jeffers is what he is. A back up catcher and nothing more. I'd hate to have him as the main guy behind the plate. Vazquez is a big improvement over over Jeffers, and over Sanchez from last season.- 39 replies

Pivotal Year Looms Large for Rocco Baldelli
CRF replied to Ted Schwerzler 's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I'm not a Rocco guy at all, but I don't think there's any way that this FO puts the bag on him. He's exactly what they want. Would I like more of an old school kind of manager, who can use analytics as well as his "gut", and can make adjustments on the fly? You bet I would, but I don't see it happening. That's not the way things are going all across baseball. I'd kill to get someone like Francona as our manager.- 26 replies

I don't think there's any reason that he won't be effective and be able to pitch a decent amount of innings. I'm optimistic he'll be as good as before. He's had more time to recover than the standard TJ surgeries usually have, and the brace surgery is/was supposed to shorten the recovery time. Maeda never was a guy to blow people away with his heat...he's crafty and needs to hit his spots. He should be fine.

Twins Claim RHP Dennis Santana from Atlanta
CRF replied to Seth Stohs's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I'd sure take Hand over Megill and Santana. It's only ST, but Megill was brutal today. Hand might not blow it by you at 95+, but he's not gonna walk three guys and then give up a dinger. For some reason, we love projects.- 37 replies

What Does Donovan Solano Mean for the Twins
CRF replied to Ted Schwerzler 's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Imo...this is kind of an odd move to add Solano. Not saying it's necessarily bad, but just a little odd. Why? We have a lot of overlap position-wise. Some of that is definitely good. It just seems like it's overkill now. There has to be some more moves coming one way or another. Trades?- 61 replies

Ranking the Most Improved AL Central Teams for 2023
CRF replied to Cody Christie's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I think that we're a better team than last season. Whether or not that translates to wins, I don't know. The pitching staff alone should be significantly better. Injuries could derail everything, just like with any team. Losing Arraez will hurt. Getting Gallo might hurt too. Can Buxton make it through a full season? Will Miranda hold his own in both hitting and fielding? Will Polanco rebound? Will Kirilloff's wrist be ok? Still a lot of questions. I'm much more optimistic going into this season, than I was last season, but we'll see what happens. Bring on the games!- 27 replies

What Are Realistic Expectations for Randy Dobnak?
CRF replied to Cody Christie's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Imo...anything we can get from him would be a plus. I don't think he figures into any plans for this season. He's WAY down the list right now. I hope he can make it back from the finger injury, but I doubt he jumps any of the pitchers we already have.
