  1. They probably have a better chance of getting Rodan from the Godzilla movies, than they do of getting Rodon. As you can see...Rodan likes to pitch inside!
  2. I'd take Swanson in a heartbeat, if we don't sign CC. Swanson is a very good ball player. Might be better offensively, and solid defensively too. My feeling is...we have to get one of those two guys. CC would be the preference, Swanson, if CC goes elsewhere.
  3. Vasquez was with Boston when the Stros were banging the trash cans.
  4. Milwaukee definitely got the best of this thing. If I was Atlanta, I'd rather keep Contreras, than trade to get Murphy. It doesn't add up. It sure doesn't help us at all...I'd love to have Murphy or Contreras, but it's a pretty strange deal.
  5. ...and the rich get richer. He would've looked good in a Twins uni, but I'm sure our FO didn't want to give the A's enough to get him..
  6. You're absolutely 100% correct and I agree completely. That's the way the Twins do business. Imo, the thing/problem is...there's always going to be a team, and possibly several teams, that ARE willing to overpay for a player. Sometimes you have to be willing to do that, to get what you want. The Twins need to be flexible enough to make an exception, when the situation dictates it. I'm not saying that they should way overpay for Correa, or Vasquez, or whomever...just that they need to consider doing that, rather than having a flat, cutoff dollar figure.
  7. Happened to see this... in a recent article, Aaron Gleeman of The Athletic, The Twins have offered Correa "a massive contract far beyond anything in franchise history". No specifics yet as to what that offer entails. View full rumor

  9. I can't see the Yanks going after Correa, that's baloney. They're going after pitching, not a SS. It's the Giants, Cubs, and us...and I'm not real keen on our chances right now. It's pretty clear that the FO is completely focused on CC, or possibly Swanson, because they're not doing anything. Nothing will happen until we find out where those two guys go.
  10. Arraez is 25 and just won a batting title. If that's as good as he's gonna get, that's still pretty damn good. I think his power numbers will probably improve over time. He's shown he can turn on an inside fastball and give it a ride at times. Remember, Rod Carew and Tony Gwynn were considered "contact hitters" too, and they turned out pretty well.
  11. Let's face it...there's no way they're going to sign Rodon. Bassitt would be a much more affordable option, and probably better long term. He's not an "ace", but he's very solid and durable. They also have to get a catcher in here. Whether it's Vasquez or Narvaez...get one of them. I don't know what's going to happen with CC, but it would be great to get him to stay here. We also all know the pen needs some help. The FO needs to get going on this stuff before all the desirable players are scooped up by other teams. Time to get moving.
  12. I'm sure some of you keep better tabs on this subject than I do, but I don't recall Kep saying anything whatsoever about not wanting to play CF, or that he prefers RF...he really doesn't say much of anything in the media at all. No doubt he's excellent in RF, and he's definitely above average in CF. That doesn't take away from what concerns most, if not all of us...that is, his hitting. He's turned into a total liability at the plate. He's killing us at the front end of the lineup, and Rocco just keeps putting him at lead off, or at least in the top five, every time he plays.
  13. No matter what you think of our FO, I'd be willing to bet that they're "kicking the tires" on several trades with several teams. Maybe they do something soon...maybe they don't. We'll see what develops.
  14. The has to be better options than Hamels. Imo...this seems like another JA Happ, Homer Bailey, Matt Shoemaker kind of scenario.
  15. According to Doogie, the Twins have made an offer to get Vasquez. We'll see what happens.
  16. So you're telling me...there's a chance? Mostly good news there, that's for certain. Hard to see us winning a battle for him with SF, but you never know. It's definitely very quiet on the Twins front right now. I don't know if that's good or bad.
  17. Oh darn...I thought we had a real shot at getting him!
  18. The Rangers must be printing money with the amount they're spending over the past couple years...wow!
  19. At this point, I honestly don't think he's worth a lot in terms of trade value. We won't get much in return, if we do deal him. I agree, his OF defense is great, and there are plenty of players who stick in the majors because of their defensive ability. As far as his bat...he definitely has fallen off the cliff. I'm not smart enough to know what's happened to him...whether he's focused too much on launch angle, or if he's trying to pull everything, etc. Whatever it is, he's a liability at the plate. No way should he be hitting at or near the top of the order, like he has been. He's got to be down at the bottom of the order. I think a good hitting coach would be able to help him tremendously...I don't think we have that person. I'd be willing to give it some more time to see if the new shift rules have any effect on his hitting, but I wouldn't want to do another whole season of his futility, if nothing changes. If the right deal does comes along, I'd trade him.
  20. Now that Turner signed with the Phils, I'd expect the Giants and the Dodgers to set their sights on Correa.
  21. They better not trade him for someone who ends up being two starts from getting TJ surgery.
