  1. I wonder if dick bremer knows how silly he sounds complaining about a missed call not standing based on a technicality. That rule was for spreading up the game. Clearly speeding up the game hasn't been a priority for a couple months.
  2. Did anyone else think doizer applauding the great defensive play was about getting a mental edge. At this stage the opponent has no reason to care about winning, but they should have pride anything you can do to gain respect could help say convince a starting pitcher to groove 3 pitches and start polishing the golf clubs by the 5 the inning. Who knows either way great 1st inning.
  3. Both Democrats and Republicans are rational and led by good intentions. The word extreme is strictly a political tool to frame the debate. If either Democrats or Republicans were actually extreme they would be replaced. Bernie Sanders is not extreme, Ted Cruz is not extreme although the Bush and Clinton family's won't mind if you think they are.
  4. I won't believe it until an obscure blogger reports it. Wait do you count?
  5. On a pop up like that isn't the object just to get to first? Calling out hustle on a play like that is pathetic to begin with. It was a mistake for him not to be sent home on the spot, worse yet the bring him in he gives up the lead and then seems to throw at a batter. Suspend him without pay for the rest of the year.
  6. Pat mahomes Jr comes up about 10 yards short on one of the otherwise craziest scramble into a pretty well executed Standford band play. Glad I watched that while the twins were giving up the lead.
  7. Pat Mahomes jr with a big game QBing Texas Tech looking to upset TCU for anyone that cares. Between him Torii Hunter Jr playing WR for Notre Dame and Brent Gates Jr about to start his Gopher hockey career those 90's Twins teams were doing something right.
  8. As bad as scores and box scores indicate this offense is, it seems as if every time I'm watching they drive right down the field. Given the TCU loss is pretty impressive at this point I wouldn't be shocked if they were ranked next week. Of course the team I watch looks like a team that clearly should be ranked.
  9. I've answered it over and over. I suppose I've been asked so much that I at times blow the question off, as the opposing side seems to always do. First of all if they want to rase it to $15 phased in as they propose I have no problem with the policy as it has virtually no real effect, I would never vote for it, but I see no harm. I have a major problem with the pandering and the acting as if they have the political courage to inact meaningful change for the better, but thats politics. I guess I've asked why not $50 enough times (an answer of we could raise it to around $24 based on this set of information would be sufficiant) to know the pro minimum wage crowd has no real intent of raising it to a level to test their theory (of which they don't seem willing to present). So again I have answered every question directed my way. If you want to add meaningful insight to the debate go for it.
  10. No not at all. I've asked a clear question over and over and other then the cost of living explanation everyone has refused to answer it. It's not just here I've asked the politicians the question over and over even asking it as why not $15.01? People refuse to answer the question. I know why they don't answer the question, but to fall back on the its all theory argument without then using opposing theory to answer that question tells me the truth. That's why this issue is just as much about lies as anything Carly fiarino has said.
  11. It's all theory, so you know nobody wants to answer the question why not $50 or why not $1000 from an actual economic perspective. I guess people from the opposing side could continue to hurl insults, but I'm done. If you actually want an answer I strongly encourage you to take an economics class. It's theory so in some peoples minds nothing you learn means a thing, but supply and demand curves, marginal cost and marginal benefit curves are all very real and business owners are only willing to fall on one side of the line. Profit is part of the equation every business owner has a minimum level of profit. Some way more then others, you can say to bad all you want but you can't mandate someone stay in business.
  12. Quick point on price and then I'm going to try to move on. If price increases would bring in more revenue the price increases would of already happened. Higher wages for some would lead to higher demand among that group, but outside of a few price elastic items those demand increases wouldn't amount to much. Moving on... Two big stories John Boehner resigns. I don't know that it will have a huge impact on the nomination but the it gives the party a little more chance to move in the direction it seems the primary voter wants. The second story I think despite not containing much real news has dominated every minute of cable news coverage all week, the pope is in town. Normally probably no political impact at all, but because of the way Trump was being covered it kind of feels like the reset button has been hit. I wouldn't be the least bit shocked if polls next week show a major slip, and for him once it starts I don't expect him to rebound to 30%. Anyways good minimum wage debate especially toward the end. I probably get a little to fired up because of my background but I hope thats what were all here for.
  13. That is an economic professor no doubt, I had one like him. If you assign an economic positive to income inequality as he did you can come up with a net economic positive. You might disagree with me but income equality is meaningless as it's not a zero sum game. The easiest path to income equality is to take away wealth not create it.
  14. Present me some economic theory that suggest minimum wage laws have a net positive impact and I will. Living wage is nice but people can make a living wage with or without minimum wage laws.
  15. Now I get it, you don't understand that a minimum wage law makes all other wages illegal. In assuming that a lot of minimum wage workers are criminals in your head you project that onto me. I understand the misunderstanding just keep in mind I don't share your views about people in poverty. They are all capable of being good productive people. Probably won't ever happen if all we ever do is let them know the minimum is the best you think they can do.
  16. Ex con? Wendys workers are ex cons? It's amazing the leaps people make because they can't discuss economics. Lets just make up what people said.
  17. So you think peoples price elasticity when it comes to fast food is high? If it cost $9.50 for a value meal I can tell you I will never buy fast food again. I'll gladly pack a lunch if fast food goes up another 20%. The business model doesn't work, but hey it will help the worker out right? Not to mention machines would take over the fast food industry overnight. They already exist but aren't cost effective, $20 minimum wage and they will be.
  18. It means minimum wage laws have unintended consequences. I have no problem with minimum wages, they serve little purpose so long as they never catch up to inflation and thus cost major unemployment) but if thats the law you want to pass go do it. I have a huge problem if they go to poor people and based on that take credit for helping them out. Wal-Mart and China sweat shops aren't going to keep you down, inner city education and everyone telling you you should strive for the minimum will though. People make what they want to make in this country with rare exception.
  19. 10% chance Molitor gets ejected before the game for discussing balls and strikes.
  20. What do you say to the guy who would work take your order at Wendy's for $14.20 an hour? I suppose stop trying to break the law?
  21. So hey business owners do better and take less profit? You must think those supply and demand curves do some goofy stuff. It would be a dang shame if the Republicans sent a $20 minimum wage to a Democrats desk. I have a feeling Democrats would get real honest real quick.
  22. Should it be illegal for me to sell my extra Twins ticket for less then the price of a hot dog at the ballpark? I get that you want to connect cost of living to wages but the two have nothing to do with each other. A wage is a legally agreed upon contract between two parties. Causing more unemployment because you're angry at job creators only hurts the worst off. Feel the Bern
  23. If minimum wages work then either you (the politicians who put them into effect) can come up with a rough estimate where they stop working or they never stop working. I'll ask it again this time expecting an actual answer. Why not $50 an hour? Or $1000 an hour. Clearly Democrats aren't proposing that high of a minimum wage. Really odd given the direct question has been asked over and over and the response is to ignore the question and hurl insults for even asking it. I have a degree in economics I know exactly what the answer is. Dirty little secret it's the exact answer that any Republican who isn't willing to raise it 50 cents has. I know Democrats want to project hatred of poor people on us, but if Republicans actually hated poor people they would pass a $20 an hour minimum wage and send the bill to Mark Dayton or Barrack Obama's desk.
  24. Wouldn't a 33% variable shift a long shots odds significantly? I guess if you don't think Clinton is flawed you might disagree. Watch the betting markets, not overseas casinos willing to make easy money.
  25. Betting markets tend to settle at a truer price, but odds can be all over the map on things like this. He's a long shot because it's a 2 step process and there is a good chance his opponent won't be Clinton. If he and Clinton win the nomination he's even money at worst.
