  1. Probably more then 99% of the US at any given time. If there's one thing the irrational fear is good for it's putting a little more feat in the minds of criminals and would be criminals.
  2. Martin will get the minutes if he's here, but there has to be a way to get rid of him. Maybe not a complete cancer in the locker room but no sense in keeping guys like him around.
  3. The president. His reaction to what happened in Oregon is disgusting. If he wants to make a policy change then go ahead and do the things required to make that change. Yeah the other side might not make it easy but when you actually want to make a policy change you have to give in on something else. His words sound like he is trying to do something, but his actions make it very clear that this is about politics for him. Meanwhile in Chicago... crap not close enough to a school who cares right?
  4. It happened outdoors at 1 AM. On a college campus and involving people that at times attend classes. The media and Democrats know school shooting sells their agenda. I suppose they can put this one in the stats as a mass school shooting so they can go play politics. The Democrats had the House Senate and the White House at the time of Sandy Hook. While I disagree with what they wanted to do they should have done it if they actually cared about the issue in anything more then a political sense.
  5. It's all about the return. Yeah I'd rather do something about Mauer but we can deal with that situation with or without getting an asset for a replaceable player. Terry Ryan usually is pretty good with this sort of trade, and there's no great reason not to trade him.
  6. The media is way to eager to call something like this a school shooting. Of course any suggestion the media has an agenda or a bias is crazy talk.
  7. I don't want to write off concussions as meaningless, but do you really think Yogi Berra and Johnny Bench didn't have concussions? 20 years ago, the trainer brought out the smelling salts and in the case of football or hockey 2 minutes later they were back in the game. Those guys probably had headaches here and there for the next month too but they continued to play. Now a guy can go 7 days without any symptoms and then on the 8th day when there ready to play the trainer will restart the process. My theory is some of those symptoms are hangovers but I could be wrong, although Derek Boogaard sat out with a "concussion" because he was in drug rehab. And by the way I know these guys are competitive but if I can avoid a rode trip to Detroit and Cleveland and still collect a pay check I'm telling the trainer I had another concussion especially if I have newborn twins (Not to be confused with 2 year old twins then I'm playing everyday granted I'm sure the Mauers have a nanny). As for the brain studies let me know when they study the brain of an athlete who died of natural causes then I'll care. Of course the brains of the depressed and drug addicts are going to come up with something different.
  8. The GOP is in an interesting spot. You can't win without the Tea Party, but the Tea Party probably won't win. In the case of speaker of the house who cares, fighting harder is good, but we can all count votes and until they have the white house they don't have the votes. At what point does the establishment decide probably can't win is better then can't win? As for Paul Ryan the tea party tried to give the establishment an exception and it failed, good luck moving forward.
  9. Every once in a while a player waves a no trade clause. You think maybe Mauer would be willing to play for a team like the Marlins and not have to deal with Minnesota anymore. I don't know but a good GM better know.
  10. Blindspots one of those shows that never would of made it in the pre on demand days. Hopefully they can keep it up, but I don't know how you do 10+ episodes with this concept.
  11. I think it's safe to say the Twins and Torii Hunter already have a salary in mind for next year.
  12. I can not figure out why we didn't make a more on AJ at the end of August, that being said I'd rather have a Drew Butera type then AJ going into next season. Throwing out runners/getting more double plays is a game changer. AJ has only out extra base hit Butera by 38 over the last 2 years.
  13. if all games are 50/50 Twins still have better then 3% chance of forcing 163
  14. Smarter then most managers? It's amazing how smart you can look when you have significantly better players then the previous. Maybe Molitor can get credit for not being horrible, but he had next to nothing to do with all the good young players coming up this year. I think a great manager easily would have got this team to the playoffs.
  15. Hand raised
  16. I couldn't imagine how bad we would have been in 2012 with Molitor. Bad rosters and bad managers usually don't turn out well.
  17. No this roster should have won 85 games minimum
  18. Torii took an elbow to the groin
  19. Despite the 6 run lead and the long shot of a 6 run 9th it was the right move to avoid facing a good hitter with a runner in scoring position. The Twins didn't disrespect him anymore then the stat page in the Cleveland planes dealer.
  20. I'm not saying they should throw at him, but if they do or if some team next year does he might get a broken wrist. That's his problem at that point. 2 wrongs doesn't make a right but one wrong often leads to two wrongs and a bad situation. What's wrong with showing people a little respect?
  21. The fact the ball went into the first or 2nd row also plays a role. Buxton hit the same ball and was attempting to get a triple as the ball cleared the wall in a similar situation. Sano hit a ball 430 feet and treated it like just another HR Rosario hit one and despite the fact he could have gone out of his way to flip his bat he ran the bases and gave the kid a couple words and moved on. I don't mind a little flip on no doubter but that was the kind of flip only allowed on a 430 foot walk off.
  22. So we intentionally walk a guy and then give up a hr and the manager is yelling at the batter? If you don't like the bat flip do something about it.
  23. Home plate umpire clearly doesn't want to be there until 11 PM. He can leave, act like a pro. Hopefully he's fired in the offseason.
