  1. Forget the parties in this country we have two ballot lines worth going after. If it was just the popular vote someone like Trump might be able to pull it off running 3rd ballot line but with the EC it's not going to happen unless it is well known going into the election one of his opponents will finish 3rd, and even then if a big state or 2 are picked off by the 3rd place finisher it wouldn't happen. This is why I always say the election happens at caucuses/primaries and if you choose not to participate at that point you're I voted sticker in November offends me because you didn't. I hear way to many people already talking about Clinton versus Trump, when the reality is those two have a lot of work to do before that's anything more then an educated guess. Turnout is typically so low that the dynamic of Trump could turn things in any direction for both parties. In 2012 if 1.5% of the Iowa population caucused as Republicans for Kermit the Frog he would have blown out Santorum and Romney.
  2. Fair point, although it seems like that property was going to be the center of the investigation at some point with or without the car, in fact if it takes several months to find the bones the case against Steve Avery is if anything easier as the lack of other evidence wouldn't be questioned as much as time goes on. I guess my main point is if the car is crushed and ends up being found by investigators it eliminates most everyone else as potential suspects especially if not everyone on the lot operated the crusher or had access to operate the crusher without anyone else knowing.
  3. Is that what Democrats are going with?
  4. Of course I can, I just don't think it's anywhere close to a sure thing. The same things said about Bernie now were said about Obama 8 years ago. National polls before the first states votes are counted mean less then nothing. Democrats don't nominate flawed candidates because they don't have to.
  5. Still don't see how Hillary wins the Democrat nomination, clearly Bernie is a weak opponent compared to Obama, but Obama wasn't half the rock star he became at this stage. Money may be the deciding factor but my theory is as the internet progresses and the post internet generation starts to vote in higher #'s money means less and less.
  6. I'm confused why people assume a crushed car wouldn't have been found? The reality is it was already difficult to find it among that many other cars, and thats only if they started looking on that property. It might not be easy to identify the crushed car but once the bones were found chances are someone would have found it. It might be odd, but it sure isn't a point in favor of the defense. Think about it if you know how to use a car crusher and you just murdered someone the last thing you want to do is crush the evidence unless that somehow helps you to eliminate the evidence which as far as I know it wouldn't.
  7. I figured this thread should be started before we spoil the ending in the other thread. Heres something interesting when I first saw this I thought maybe he had a connection to making the film until I remembered he's on the other side. http://www.packers.com/team/staff/Mike-Halbach/bc32b029-52e7-4e07-b172-f9580ded39f3
  8. Probably should start a separate thread allowing spoilers.
  9. Thats great and up until this week the pandering probably gained her 8 or 10 votes. If she liked Iowa football for any reason outside of political pandering it would probably be a good idea to demonstrate that, otherwise she's done and might as well drop out of the race rather then finish last in Iowa as the 8 or 10 Iowa fans the pandering helped sway won't even support her now. If this wasn't significant it wouldn't have made all the Sunday shows.
  10. So you couldn't cheer for South Dakota the other 11 weeks of the year? And you played for the Gophers? Theres a lot wrong with Gopher athletics, I can't help but laugh at how pathetic that is. I think it would have been cool if Arizona State beat St Cloud State this weekend if somehow it happened, but even when it was 7-0 I was hoping for more goals cause other programs aren't a major concern of mine as they wouldn't be for anyone with an ounce of loyalty.
  11. You might be a Democrat who can find a lot of reasons to vote against her, but I have no major reason prior to this to dislike or distrust her. She can cheer on Iowa every step of the way against every team accept one. As for you cheering against the Gophers did you attend and graduate from the University of Minnesota? Anyways I'm about to drive 50 miles to a college hockey game of the school I graduated from. I've been rooting for Arizona State every weekend since the start of the season by the way, not this weekend.
  12. Didn't see that, but thats just a mistake that is easily excusable. From my standpoint stating she was rooting for Iowa over her Alma mater should be politically career ending. Basically she just said I will play politics no matter what, I will go against long held beliefs for any meaningless purpose I come up with. I now put her in the group of Bush and Trump as people I will not vote for if they get the nomination, not that she had any chance anyways.
  13. Anyone see Carly Fiorino's idiotic tweet about rooting for Iowa over Stanford in the Rose Bowl. I have to assume it was a staffer, but she should just get out of the race because it's impossible to respect her.
  14. I had to google the news anchors names at a certain point just to prove to myself this was real. I was really wishing it was a mock documentary as I watched it.
  15. Woops Glen Sonmor
  16. Incredible year for under 80 year olds who didn't have cancer going into the year. BTW nobody mentioned Glen Sather who died a couple weeks ago in his 80's.
  17. USA Sweden 8 AM NHL Network this morning. Don't know about this years Sweden team, but typically they compete for the Gold.
  18. Just stayed up all night watching. I don't know what to think without looking into the case further, but they sure got the intended reaction out of me at least for a little while. As always the media is disgusting when it comes to tragic events and if nothing else I'm glad this showed that from this perspective.
  19. World Junior tournament starting this morning with USA playing Canada at noon. I really wish the NHL would promote this more, this is the best hockey you will see until March. Only 2 Minnesotan's and zero Gophers on the roster. We'll see if that becomes a trend in the coming years.
  20. Exactly my point. The Republicans had nothing to do with not getting what some think would have been a better bill, you're not going to get a handful of Republicans to come in on the more liberal version so why are we blaming the Republicans? Cost are going up because government is trying to do things they aren't good at, and despite it not being represented in all aspects of the economy we do have inflation, it's what happens when you print new money at the rate we are.
  21. The bullpen actually looks pretty decent with a full year of Jepsen a full year of May and a healthy Perkins. A lot has to happen for this team to take a big step forward, but that seems more likely then taking a step backwards. For me this year will come down to how good Berrios is. I think it's silly to care if your bullpen is better then other teams, it's a matter of being good enough. If the Royals can throw a near perfect 3 innings at you it's a matter of getting some runs on the board early so our bullpen can give up 1 or 2 runs if need be.
  22. Republicans can be as wrong as wrong can be on the issue, if Democrats passed the wrong version of the law thats on them. You can bash the stance of the Republicans, but they didn't need a single Republican vote to pass it so they probably should have passed the law they wanted.
  23. So instead of getting zero Republican votes getting what they "wanted" they compromised to get zero Republican votes getting something they didn't want? It kind of sounds like Republicans weren't the problem.
  24. If it happens in a certain way sure, but third parties have performed well before and it hasn't mattered. If third party support showed momentum from election to election it would be different, but the American voter gives up on third parties by the third cycle no matter what.
  25. That typically is true, but again it's not a problem especially if the poor and middle class are better off. We also can't overlook the need for investment within the economy. That money being available means everyone can strive for good ideas knowing the money to make things happen is out there.
