  1. Wow! What a bullpen! The odds against this collection working are astronomical.
  2. He needs to be really good to justify trading Varland because it is doubtful that Roden is a game changer.
  3. What is it with this analytic love affair with Outman? The eye test says that he can't hit. He is completely and totally redundant.
  4. Let's collect LH hitting outfielders like stamps. Totally inane.
  5. Too many moving parts in his approach-big leg kick, long stride, etc.- to be consistent. When everything works it's great. Just doesn't happen that often.
  6. For me, it has been the dismal drafting and the the lack of impact players with their #1 pick. While I understand it is an inexact science, but to end up with so few high level consistent players, so many one dimensional players, and just out and out whiffs is puzzling.
  7. All of this certainly does not bode well for the immediate future of the team/franchise.
  8. The only real word to describe the Twins organization is dysfunctional.
  9. While I understand the frustration with the job he did in some areas, it's hard for me to be too hard on him when you consider the position that ownership put him in when the drive started to "right size" the payroll. Pretty much a " no win" situation for him. If you don't have the resources to do what needs to be done, how do you get it done?
  10. Really? Having a whole pile of part time players does not seem like a recipe for success. When the Brewers came to town last year for three games, the only thing that changed in their lineups was their #9 hitter. It can be done if there is a will to do it.
  11. A great ambassador for Twins baseball. A well deserved honor. I chaperoned his senior prom in high school.
  12. My point is the redundancy of LH outfielders. They already had a bunch of them and then at the trade deadline acquired even more. Why? So now they are loading up with no hit utility infielders. Strange way to construct a team and roster.
  13. Too much of their season is based on HOPE. Hope this guys recovers his previous form? Hope this guy stays healthy? Hope the fringe players produce? ETC. ETC. Hope is not a plan.
  14. Every team "wants" to win the World Series but how many are willing to do what it takes? Signing Correa was a big deal but the real failure was not surrounding him with other talented [more expensive] players to consolidate the roster, Instead, we end up with the Manny Margots of the world.
  15. A "new" Pohlad who is committed to field a winner. Be still my heart!!!
  16. Hard to believe that they would even consider him as an alternative. But I am afraid the analysis is correct regarding his future with the Twins,
  17. If a player is thinking about all this information when he is in the batter's box, the ball will be in the catcher's mitt before he decides what to do. You need to have a clear mind and then react. Hence, Oliva's " See ball , Hit the ball."
  18. As a former union negotiator, I can tell you that the number one rule in contract negotiations is never go backwards. The players will go to the mat on the salary cap issue. Why would they agree on a potential limit to their earning power? Not going to happen. I would also point out that spending insane amounts of money is no guarantee of success. Well run teams will succeed regardless of payroll issues and poorly run teams will fail even if they have deep pockets.
