  1. These guys were on a 40-man team hoping to compete for the World Series? See who picks any of them up.
  2. Ahhh, weep for those days. Gaetti hopping like a chicken after the Evans pick off. Hits from up and down the line up. A stopper. The starters. Defense. Youth. Home grown. The underdogs become champions. Weep for those days.
  3. Sometimes big guys take longer to get to their peak. Age 28 or 29 before they have full motor control of a very large apparatus. I remember a guy named Ortiz who played pretty well for the Twins, but was oft-injured and they let him go.
  4. I have to admit I was skeptical about a woman announcer, but after listening to multiple broadcasts this season, I think she's fine. She knows her stuff and doesn't overdo it. Turns out, there's a hell of a lot of female fans, and she brings insight, fun and knowledge in areas that men have limitations.
  5. Put Dozier at 1B. Seriously.
  6. Berrios definitely got shorted. First by the Ump, then by his manager. Chrissakes, stand up for your pitcher Mollie. Rookie is jobbed on some calls and you yank him? A real manager stands at the mound until he can walk the ump back to homeplate addressing his concerns.
  7. It was over three days into the season when Nishioka stood like a statue at 2B and Nick Swisher broke his leg on a DP.
  8. I hope Buxton figures things out. He, more than anyone, even Sano, is the key to the Twins becoming respectable. What worries me most, is not necessarily the strikeouts, especially now that he is showing some power. It's the lack of contact on pitches that are in the zone and hittable by most MLB hitters. Buxton misses a lot of easy balls right now. That's either very good or very bad news. And I'm not sure which way that will go.
  9. Duffey somewhat risky out of the pen, because of being a curve ball pitcher. Just unusual is all. And Wimmers, not getting any love here. I like the movement on his pitches.
  10. This would be great news, if true. The games I have seen, he can't throw -- one of or both -- his curve ball, or his slide-piece, or his change-up for strikes, allowing batters to cross one or both of his other pitches off the list and sit on one pitch. He has to throw strikes. Period. Then he can expand the zone. The hitters know what's coming for sure. How and why they know that is what Berrios needs to resolve.
  11. It could be, it is possible, that Pohlad said that Molitor was going to manage in 2017 in order to protect Molitor through this season. If he doesn't say that, and everyone, including the young players on the Twins, know that a new GM is coming in, what happens to the discipline in the clubhouse (if there is any) under Molitor late in the season? Every Twins' player will think and believe that Molitor is a lame duck and not to be listened to. So, as dumb a statement as it is from the owner of a baseball franchise, in Pohlad's defense, he may have been trying to protect his manager. The acid test will be to see what happens when they hire a GM, who must be given latitude to bring in his own manager. How can you possibly evaluate new leadership if you burden him with the old manager? That makes no sense.
  12. Either Buxton is the stud that the entire Baseball Establishment has crowned him as or he's the biggest bust of the 21st century. Like the aggressive swings he is taking now. I can handle 30% strikeout rate if he hits 30 HRs, though that's a different player than I imagined. Twins' luck has been really poor ever since Cuddyer hit a ground ball to 2B in Toronto in 2010. At some point, we get lucky again.
  13. Wow. If May is reduced to rubble, that would net the Twins return on Denard Span and Ben Revere to zero. Part of this has got to be rotten luck.
  14. Can someone explain to Dave St. Peter that they are "playing for a World Championship" now, this season? And that to put that off into the future sometime is at least half their problem?
  15. Correct me if I'm wrong, but President of Baseball Operations is there to ensure continuity and culture when the GM is let go. As it is, with just a GM, now you have a power vacuum, where someone like Antony may be able to push his way to the top, or make a series of dubious moves. GM must be held accountable and his removal should not unduly destabilize the organization. It is a better structure, IMO, and would have avoided the lengthy Ryan bamboozlement of the Pohlads, and even the current embrace of Molitor by the Pohlads.
  16. If I am pitching to Rosario, why throw him a strike? Ever. Let him get himself out. That level of scouting will permeate the MLB approach to him if he doesn't learn to lay off bad balls. It will, and his ability to mash will be reduced.
  17. Luis Arraez, an Hispanic left-handed middle infield version of Kirby Puckett, without the power? Anyone know what his BB/SO numbers were?
  18. Blackburn who throws a ball as heavy as a shot-put. How many HRs has he allowed on an annual basis?
  19. I'm just glad we got rid of Denard Span five years ago. We didn't need him anyway.
  20. We got this. Who is looking good in the draft?
  21. Time to get paper grocery bags, cut eye-holes and maybe a mouth, put "Twins Fan" on it, and wait by the Twins dugout for the right moment in a blow-out loss. I'm talking about a whole row of us. This team and this season deserves nothing less. Anyone else want to join in?
  22. It took Dave Dombrowski a full year to learn everyone in the GM's front office and the job they did. Heck, Pohlad was able to get that done in a couple days by reading other Club's media guides.
  23. Any clues on his "swing/miss" percentages" since joining the Twins?
