  1. Hmmm, I managed to respond to this in the other thread. Sorry! 44 PA in rookie ball, for a college draftee, has zero relevance. 104 wRC+ in A, 129 wRC+ in high-A (what you call "destroyed"?), 119 wRC+ in AA now. Below average walk rate, above average K rate, modest isolated power. Apparently doesn't play CF. Bats lefthanded. I mean, as a non-40-man guy to fill a minor league roster, he looks great, but it is hard to see a future of value for this guy. Those numbers aren't just going to carry over to MLB.
  2. Doesn't really matter. Dodger 2B production was fine last year, near the top of MLB, as they had the best regular season record. Then Forsythe had a good postseason at the plate as they reached game 7 of the World Series. There is no evidence to suggest they would have been better off with Dozier, so thereof there is no reason they should have offered more to get him.
  3. No. It was, and remains, a good non-trade for both sides.
  4. That's not fair at all. I think this return is an accurate representation of Dozier's current value -- but that doesn't mean I endorse trading him for that return.
  5. Perhaps, but that wasn't a good return to begin with. It could be "better" but still be bad.
  6. Destroyed high-A? It was a 129 wRC+. Preceded by a 104 wRC+ in A, and now a 119 wRC+ in AA. He was a college draftee, who cares what he did in 44 PA of rookie ball. Looking at his stat lines, I am not detecting power as a standout skill, or contact, or plate discipline...
  7. For this return, "the future" of just the next 2 months is pretty comparable.
  8. The decision to trade him at all could be, though. This does seem to be our weakest trade of the deadline, which suggests perhaps we just should have kept him.
  9. Solid for AA performance, but not much for projecting a MLB future. Below average BB%, above average K%. 119 wRC+ per Fangraphs, and he's almost 24 in AA (admittedly a college draftee).
  10. Raley is a LH, corner OF/1B, almost 24 years old with a 119 wRC+ in AA, below average BB%, above average K%. I guess neither "prospect" needs to be added to the 40 man this offseason, but I am still really scratching my head over this one.
  11. Quick glance is, why bother?
  12. Nah. Adrianza turns 29 years old this month. There's nothing I could see from him in August or September that would change how I approach the 2019 infield -- Adrianza is a fine utility guy, but I want to be confident in my starters at all 3 spots. Dropping Dozier now just means you will have to roster Motter or Petit again, and start them a few times too (especially if you give Sano any time at 1B/DH). And if the unthinkable happens and you make the playoffs, remember Polanco is ineligible too so Motter or Petit would actually be starting in the postseason (although I am sure many would be so delirious from the comeback that they wouldn't care). Edit: if you can get good value for Dozier, obviously you can move him. But I don't think I'd give him away for salary relief or to open up a spot for Adrianza at this point.
  13. I'm stupid. You're smart. I was wrong. You were right. You're the best. I'm the worst. You're very good-looking. I'm not attractive.
  14. You forgot 2003: 7.5 back at the break, still 6.5 back on July 29 -- that was the Johan to the rotation / Shannon Stewart trade season
  15. The Nats have had some managerial/clubhouse issues of their own...
  16. "Back in my day, ballplayers weren't pre-Madonna's -- they were pre-Cher's!"
  17. Kinsler is having the better season now (particularly with defensive metrics), and he only fetched 2 AAA relievers. And the Angels ate some salary too. I agree, the Twins might as well hold on to Dozier now.
  18. Lynn post-April wasn't that great, overall. Pretty comparable to Mejia's numbers from 2017, or Romero's 2018. Erv has me a little nervous, like he might be the shaky replacement for Lynn, in which case the young pitcher would have to be even better if we want to improve the team overall. (Would need improvement from Odorizzi too.)
  19. They use to play this clip at the stadium when the Twins trailed going into the bottom of the ninth. Suffice to say, it usually was over when Mariano Rivera bombed the Metrodome.
  20. Guys, if we can trust anyone about this, it's Boof Bonser. We called him up August 1st, 2006 when we were 9.5 games behind the Tigers, and we all know how that turned out! We went 7-4 in Boof's starts in that stretch, including 5-1 in September. Who can be 2018's Boof Bonser?
  21. This might be the most far-fetched part of your blueprint -- the Twins winning a game vs the Yankees? Basically, it boils down to making up games head-to-head vs Cleveland. Considering our last game with Cleveland is August 30, doing that could narrow the race considerably with a full month left to play, which would be very interesting by itself. (Although likely invite a lot of second-guessing about deadline moves too.) We wouldn't necessarily have to finish 1 game ahead after 162 games either -- we could force another game 163 tiebreaker, which we would also host thanks to that head-to-head record (no more coin flips).
  22. Well, Pressly could sign somewhere as a free agent, and then get traded later too...
  23. Ventura was wrapping up his 4th full MLB season when he charged Nolan Ryan. At the time, Ventura was about to win his 3rd Gold Glove (although obviously not a boxing glove ). He was even an all-star the previous year. Not quite a rookie anymore. (Unless there is another Ventura mound-charging incident to which you are referring.) I guess relative to Nolan Ryan, though, everyone was a rookie.
  24. The Yankees traded that Rijo when he was 19 years old too! In the first Rickey Henderson deal.
  25. I mentioned on the other thread, but Austin is out of options next spring.
