  1. Gotta go with Donaldson of the bunch. I'd rather risk cash by signing Donaldson rather than risk prospects in a trade for Santana.
  2. I'm bringing my 1 year old son to the final game of the season this Sunday. If Mauer decides to retire, I want to tell my son that the first baseball game he attended was Joe Mauer's last.
  3. 14/1 K/BB in 11 2/3 since Lynn put on pinstripes. I understand Dozier's current hot streak because we've seen it multiple times. Escobar has been steady all season, so that makes sense. The same with Pressly. But Lance Lynn ... I just don't get it. Maybe it isn't a clubhouse problem? Maybe we're only befuddled because the one guy we didn't expect to see improve is doing so in a big way - albeit a SSS.
  4. It puzzles me. I personally believe there is an issue in the clubhouse. Some sort of tension either between players and coaches, coaches and FO, players and FO ... or all of the above. Seems like a toxic work environment immediately improved by a change of scenery.
  5. 1.) Where are you from? Born in Minneapolis, lived in Murdock, MN for 11 years, then moved back to Minneapolis. Currently reside in Chisago City. 2.) Age Range? 38 3.) What brought you to Twins Daily? Gleeman and the Geek … but mostly Parker on Twitter #PimpEverything 4.) Highest level of baseball/softball played? Minnesota Twins RBI League. 5.) Favorite Twins Player, and favorite underappreciated Twins player, and if you want, favorite current Twins player? • Favorite: Kirby • Underappreciated: Shane Mack • Current: Jose Berrios 6.) Favorite non-Twins Daily site/authors? hrltwincities.com and wifflinforwishes.com … oh … mprnews.org 7.) Favorite Twitter follows? @HRLBlueJays 8.) Other interests outside of baseball: My family, wiffleball, home brewing with greater aspirations. I also collect game-used, mostly current, Twins memorabilia. 9.) Favorite part of Twins Daily... forums, blogs, articles, topics... whatever: All the different perspectives, opinions, and the vast baseball (in general) knowledge. 10.) Tell us what we can do better. What features or other topics would you like to see in-season or out of season? It's all good. 11.) Have you been to any of the Twins Daily "events?": Not yet.
  6. Perfect Game lists him as a SS. I was curious about him listed as a catcher on the original post as well.
  7. This is how we do professional sports in Minnesota.
  8. The only way the Twins will ever land a FA like Machado is if we egregiously overpay. It ain't my money ... DO IT!!!
  9. Wow ... LaRon Smith signed for $125K. I haven't found much about him other than a prior commitment to Indian Hills Community College. Good size for a HS SS with room to grow. Very young HS senior. It will be fun watching him work through the system.
  10. I'd argue that could be part of Buxton's struggles. Baseball is very much a mental game. Imagine trying to live up to that level of hype and expectations. No thank you.
  11. Much like the Mets are doing with deGrom and Snydergaard, we should shop the best we have while their stock is at its peak. Escobar has become one of my favorite players on this team. It would be tough to see him go. But if a team that lost out on Machado wants to bet on Escobar's current production by over paying in a trade ... DO IT!!!
  12. I really don't think we have the chips to land either one. Mets will definitely want young, controllable, Ace starter potential guys like Graterol and/or Romero. That's where the package starts. I could see them demanding Lewis, Graterol, and a controllable asset on the roster like Rosario or Kepler ... plus another top 30 prospect. We have a quality farm system, but in my opinion, with the way the big club is playing now and for the near future, we can't afford to trade away assets that could swing the pendulum in 2020 and beyond.
  13. We can only hope Helman's post-baseball life is much less eventful.
  14. Raw power definitely seems to be the draft theme this year.
  15. Included in his 2018 highlight recap gives me some hope he will stick at catcher. "Threw out 23-of-49 base runners (46.9 percent) including 16-of-25 (64.0 percent) in Big West play."
  16. There ya go ... Trevor Casanova.
  17. Jon Olsen. Doesn't bother with an H and is the E type of Olsen. He is going to stir up many Minnesota style arguments.
  18. I really like the Michael Helman pick. Leads Texas A&M in nearly every offensive category. According to his bio, clear athletic talent running through the family.
  19. Owen Sharts is still available.
  20. By many publications, Larnach was pretty much BPA at #20. Fangraphs listed him in their top 15. He may not be a 5-tool player, but he still has plenty of potential. This isn't the NBA or NFL draft. It takes years to see the true success of most drafts. Keep in mind, Mike Trout was drafted #25 in 2009, while Mark Appel was drafted out of HS in 2009, then #8 in 2012 and #1 in 2013. It's best not to take too strong a stance, positive or negative the day after a pick is made.
  21. RHP SP Michael Montero is another guy I'm excited about. Solid DSL debut in 2017, 58 IP, 64 / 12 K to BB. Good size, still only 18 years old. Looking for recommendations on sites for video of Twins prospects at all levels? I comb YouTube and of course TD. Wondering if there is a blogger, or Twitter account, etc., that is a MUST follow for prospect video.
  22. I didn't get a chance to look it up. Oh boy ... yeah ... apparently he has one great eye, and one bad eye.
  23. I'm not aware of any injury concerns. It seems like he's a victim of bad luck. Incredible OBP, but a very low BA, tells me his BABIP is low. Bringing that number down his is high K%, since he's not putting balls in play. He's still young. Season's still young. No worries on my end. It's just crazy to see such a low BA with such a high OBP.
