  1. First time I've attended a Winter Meltdown. Excellent work to all involved. Got a decent picture that Gleeman added to his thank you note on Twitter. I'll definitely be going next year. http://imgur.com/a/50an0nL
  2. Even if they are trying to extend him, Berrios is talented enough and young enough to bet on himself. IMO the Front Office hasn't done enough to prove to our younger players they are committed to winning. They seem to be more committed to finding value and saving money. It's likely a key reason players choose NY over mid-market teams. Yeah, history and market play a role in the decision. But if I'm a young, talented player on the brink of free agency, and I continue to see a team pay for the most talented players year in and year out, chances are they will move up on my list of teams I want to be part of.
  3. #1 Berrios #2 Lewis #3 Buxton #4 Kirilloff #5 Graterol I can't see a prospect, no matter how great or highly anticipated, be ranked above Berrios.
  4. This is a take I can't understand. Astudillo has done nothing but proven himself worthy at every level. He gets mocked because of his stature, but yet out hustled and out-performed nearly everyone on the Twins roster the final two months of the season. What more does he have to do? No one will ever mistake him for a generational player. He is a guy worthy of playing time at the MLB level. Unless of course you're content with Castro's career .231/.311/.386 ... then by all means. Buh...buh.... pitch framing. Bleh. Also, 90 losses don't happen because of one player.
  5. Sano and Buxton are perfect buy-low extension candidates. Berrios has all the leverage in negotiations, making him a tough sign. As crazy as it seems, the only guy I'm not ready to extend is Kepler. He plays solid defense, but his bat really hasn't improved over three seasons. I'm not opposed to extending him, and like Sano/Buxton, he could be a buy-low candidate. We just haven't seen the elite flashes in Kepler like we've seen with Sano and Buxton.
  6. Gotta go with Donaldson of the bunch. I'd rather risk cash by signing Donaldson rather than risk prospects in a trade for Santana.
  7. I'm bringing my 1 year old son to the final game of the season this Sunday. If Mauer decides to retire, I want to tell my son that the first baseball game he attended was Joe Mauer's last.
  8. Perfect Game lists him as a SS. I was curious about him listed as a catcher on the original post as well.
  9. Wow ... LaRon Smith signed for $125K. I haven't found much about him other than a prior commitment to Indian Hills Community College. Good size for a HS SS with room to grow. Very young HS senior. It will be fun watching him work through the system.
  10. We can only hope Helman's post-baseball life is much less eventful.
  11. Raw power definitely seems to be the draft theme this year.
  12. Included in his 2018 highlight recap gives me some hope he will stick at catcher. "Threw out 23-of-49 base runners (46.9 percent) including 16-of-25 (64.0 percent) in Big West play."
  13. Jon Olsen. Doesn't bother with an H and is the E type of Olsen. He is going to stir up many Minnesota style arguments.
  14. I really like the Michael Helman pick. Leads Texas A&M in nearly every offensive category. According to his bio, clear athletic talent running through the family.
  15. By many publications, Larnach was pretty much BPA at #20. Fangraphs listed him in their top 15. He may not be a 5-tool player, but he still has plenty of potential. This isn't the NBA or NFL draft. It takes years to see the true success of most drafts. Keep in mind, Mike Trout was drafted #25 in 2009, while Mark Appel was drafted out of HS in 2009, then #8 in 2012 and #1 in 2013. It's best not to take too strong a stance, positive or negative the day after a pick is made.
  16. RHP SP Michael Montero is another guy I'm excited about. Solid DSL debut in 2017, 58 IP, 64 / 12 K to BB. Good size, still only 18 years old. Looking for recommendations on sites for video of Twins prospects at all levels? I comb YouTube and of course TD. Wondering if there is a blogger, or Twitter account, etc., that is a MUST follow for prospect video.
  17. I didn't get a chance to look it up. Oh boy ... yeah ... apparently he has one great eye, and one bad eye.
  18. I'm not aware of any injury concerns. It seems like he's a victim of bad luck. Incredible OBP, but a very low BA, tells me his BABIP is low. Bringing that number down his is high K%, since he's not putting balls in play. He's still young. Season's still young. No worries on my end. It's just crazy to see such a low BA with such a high OBP.
  19. Yunior Severino, the prospect we signed from the Braves org after they were caught cheating Int'l signing rules, is one of the biggest names in my opinion.
  20. Zander Wiel is putting together a monster season. Is his production an anomaly, or did he figure things out at age 25? Seems like he could be a sneaky trade chip since he's pretty well blocked at 1B and LF.
  21. 10. Akil Baddoo, CF, Cedar Rapids Last 28 days: .213/.392/.279 (.671 OPS), 29.1 K%, 21.5 BB%. Full season: .218/.390/.315 (.705 OPS), 2 HR, 10 RBI, 27 R, 32.3 K%, 21.1 BB%. These numbers together ... MIND = BLOWN ... If Akil isn't striking out, he's taking a walk.
  22. Logan Gilbert is top on my list with Jackson Kowar a close second. My hope is that at least one of the two is available at #20. But my 21-year old self wants a Seth Beer jersey.
