  1. I had to check the calendar to make sure it wasn't April 1st. How is this move necessary when we have Berrios or Gibson can come back up to make the start Saturday? Gibson may not be on schedule for a start Saturday, but I'd take him on short rest over this guy.
  2. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe the Twins received $50K for the 1st pick. So if Haley doesn't work out, we lose nothing. *Edit: words
  3. Tonight was a fun win for the Twins in what has been a challenging season, to say the least. Dozier continued his home run tear, Buxton and Sano homered in the same game for the first time in their young career, and both played excellent defense. During post-game interviews, teammates made attempts to douse both Buxton and Dozier with Gatorade. This also happened 2-3 months ago. I can't remember what made that win exceptional, but it ended with a player having Gatorade splashed on him during a post-game interview. All I recall from the game was fallout from local sport writers, more especially Reusse. He ripped the Twins for not being focused, not having priorities straight, and IIRC, he basically wrote that Sano is a lazy, prima donna. Regardless of my memory, celebrating the game seemed to be offensive to our local sports writers/reporters/radio folks. After the game I had a couple Twitter interactions with Barreiro. It started with a reply to a tweet he sent to LaVelle: Which prompted this response: I replied with my brief opinion on the matter: Reply from Barreiro didn't sit well with me ... still doesn't My reply So glad you made it this far .... my question for all of you: TD community, what are your thoughts on post-game celebrations in a lost season? Against it? For it? Why?
  4. I'd run with Reid-Foley and Greene only, if offered. I can't imagine the Blue Jays would give up both for Santana, let alone adding Pentecost. If it happens, do the Twins officially hire Antony as GM?
  5. As a Twins fan, I'm stoked. We are trading players at peak value, at least with the Twins, for players with potential at positions of need. In my opinion, this is what committing to a rebuild looks like. Here's to hoping for a haul in return for Santana!
  6. Plot thickens..... Nygaard on Twitter "Just got a text that Santana got trade....." I'm not TD message board savvy enough to post the image.
  7. Blue Jays don't have much in their system. RHP Sean Reid-Foley is their #2 prospect, #93 on the MLB 100. He pitched in low-A Lansing, and is currently at Dunedin. Blue Jays prospects are easy to keep tabs on since they follow the same A to AAA path as the Twins: MWL, FSL, IL. He is about a year or two away from being MLB ready. Split between A and A+, his 2016 numbers are ridiculous. Still only 20 years old. I'd like a package from Toronto for Santana that includes Reid-Foley.
  8. Report of the Blue Jays scouting Santana surprised me. I'd love to see a package of RHP Sean Reid-Foley or RHP Conner Greene and C Danny Jansen. That's a huge haul for Santana, but he's under contract for what will be considered a very reasonable price considering the SP Free Agent market this off-season.
  9. Ugh ... depressing to look at the list of starting pitchers with a lower salary than Nolasco this year: Arrieta, Strasburg, Bumgarner, Sale ... Y U DO DIS!?
  10. Any talk of trading Joe is a complete waste of keyboard typing energy. We can discuss hypothetical scenarios with him gone, but why bother? I don't mind the idea of keeping Santana for some veteran presence in the rotation. He's surrendered 10 earned runs over his last six starts, dating back to his Father's Day win at home against the Yankees. Normally I'd be thrilled with his performance bolstering his trade value. However, I'm more thrilled he has put us in positions to win games than other SPs in the rotation. It's also important to have a mentor for our young guys, more especially for Spanish speaking top pitching prospects ... cough, cough, wink, wink. If we can't find a trade partner for Nolasco and/or Milone, which is very likely, one or both need to be DFA'd to make room for Berrios. At this point I also feel like Wheeler should be given a shot in the rotation. He's putting up numbers similar to Berrios in Rochester.

  12. I was also surprised not to see Stephen Gonsalves included. Would have like to see Jorge Polanco in the game as well. If memory serves me right, which isn't a reliable source, I don't believe he has ever played in the Futures Game. I'd like to see him receive more national attention. But hey, the Twins have the distinction of sending the oldest prospect to the Futures Game.
  13. As someone that suffered a partially torn rotator cuff in my early 20's, now in my mid-30's, everyday tasks have become problematic. Carrying groceries, holding a kid, even doing yard work, all cause discomfort and pain. I can't begin to imagine the pain trying to throw 95+ MPH fastballs with movement. I've always been a fan of Glen. I wish you a speedy recovery, good sir.
  14. All the more reason we need to draft Chad. If for no other reason than to make Thanksgiving dinner that much more interesting for their family.
  15. Heck ... Hockin is Killer's grandson, his favorite MLB team is the Twins, and he's a college reliever. The stars have aligned for all parties involved.
  16. Twins have to draft RHP Chad Hockin out of Cal State Fullerton ... taken from his player bio. PERSONAL Born in Upland, Calif…parents are John Hockin and Erin Killebrew…has three older brothers (John, Robert, Garrett) and one younger brother (Grant)…major is communications…grandfather Harmon Clayton Killebrew (June 29, 1936 - May 17, 2011), was signed by the Washington Senators in 1954 at the age of 17. During his 22-year career in Major League Baseball, was named an American League All-Star 13 times, the 1969 American League Most Valuable Player and a six-time American League home run leader. In 1984, Killebrew joined baseball’s immortals with his election into the Hall of Fame…uncle Cam Killebrew was drafted by Texas Rangers in the 25th round of the 1978 Major League Draft and spent three years in professional baseball…has volunteered with Miracle Fields, a charity his grandfather started…models his game after his grandfather and writes “HK3” on the mound before every outing…enjoys golfing, snowboarding, mountain biking and fishing…favorites include: Kyle Lohse, Jeff Locke (baseball players), Target Field (baseball stadium), Harmon Killebrew (athlete), Mac Miller (musical artist), Minnesota Twins (baseball team), “61” (movie), “Cat in the Hat” (book), Charlie Sheen (actor), sushi (food).
  17. I was at the game last night. Berrios' groove seemed to have been lost when he nearly threw the ball into centerfield when trying to turn a double play. Inconsistent, and small strikezone being called by Laz Diaz seemed to get in his head as well. No pitcher got the outside part of the plate last night. In my view, it seems especially important for Berrios to throw first pitch strike. Of course that sentiment can be said of all pitchers. Berrios seemed more affected by not throwing first pitch strike. Many 2-0 and 3-0 counts last night. One thing is for certain, Berrios is something special, and it could be seen last night. Clocked at 97 MPH multiple times, 94 MPH out of the stretch. It was awesome to watch a Twins starter throwing that hard. Tons of movement on his pitches, which will eventually lead to poor contact, if any at all. Effortless delivery that was consistent through all frames he pitched. There certainly were bumps, but his track record of making adjustments tells me he is going to find great success in the MLB.
  18. I was watching the gamecast on MLB.com while "working". Caught it on his final out. They include pitch count when a pitcher is on the mound, but exclude it in the box score.
  19. Adding to the impressiveness, Berrios faced 10 batters, threw 15 total pitches all for strikes. He struck out Ramirez and Sandoval consecutively on six pitches. Heck of an outing.
  20. Romy Jimenez Signed by the Minnesota Twins as a non-drafted free agent on Feb. 24, 2009.
