  1. I looked up the math. The Iglesias challenge: If safe, run expectancy .91 If out, run expectancy .28 Challenge in order to gain .63 runs expected. The Escobar challenge: If safe, run expectancy .43 plus 1 (run scores). If out, run expectancy 0 (end of inning). Challenge in order to gain 1.43 runs expected. Now, I don't know what the break even is should be, but it seems like Molitor should clearly have challenged.
  2. I don't know what the math says on the first inning challenge, but it seems like a play that would result in a run and an inning continuing with two runners on is a pretty high caliber situation to risk a challenge.
  3. I don't think this proves what you think it proves. (Or anything, most likely.)
  4. Tomorrow's SP for the Tigers: 0-4, 4.64ERA, 21.1IP, 9K, 1.94 ERA. Anyone? It's disappointing the Twins are 10 games under 500 at the end of April. I don't know, though, I am looking forward to the next five months. Mauer-Sano-Park-Arcia looks like a nice middle of the lineup. Berrios-Meyer-Duffey in the rotation looks promising too. I think there is something to build on here. Maybe getting back into contention isn't realistic anytime soon, but count me in as sticking around to see the show.
  5. And, as I think we all recognize, Ash, you are truly a rare talent.
  6. Shouldn't it be buh--RRRREE-os? I want to hear Jack Morris and Bert rolling their r's.
  7. This comment is absolutely spot on. I had to search back through the thread to pull it back up. Really questionable overall approach to developing young players. I think you could add Arcia to this list. Eddie Rosario, on the other hand, is one of the few Twin prospects that has gotten the consistent playing time that is needed to establish himself.
  8. Is there a "sigh, like" button?
  9. I don't remember the beginning or ending of his monologue
  10. Yeah, you are right. But my therapist is the guy who hit the comebacker, and never lets me hear the end of it.
  11. Are you sure about this? The last game of my Little League "career," I was pitching for Dairy Queen against the vaunted First Bank and Trust, who were older, bigger, and we had no business beating. It was the bottom of the last inning (6th), two outs, and I got a comebacker. A short flip to Chad at first for the win. However, I airmail the throw. A few batters later (with me still pitching) we lose the game. Eerily similar to Sunday. Anyway, I'd go 50/50 Vargas/stay at 14 pitchers. Because adding both of those options would make the least sense roster-construction-wise.
  12. My only question: why didn't Arcia bat yesterday?
  13. Dozier hit the ball real hard every AB today. With the way he likes to ambush pitchers in late, close games, and Strasburg over 110 pitches...was set up nicely.
  14. I think Dozier goes yard this inning.
  15. Murphy update: Daniel BA about 6X John Ryan.
  16. The correct answer to this question is obviously "Yes."
  17. He left a 20-foot mark (divot?) on the field.
  18. Sano really crushed that ball to center. And Werth made a helluva catch on that Buxton homer. Twins showed a bit of life there and almost made a game of it. At least my second favorite team won.
  19. Hmmm. I've got 2 out of 3. Getting the third is looking rough right now.
