  1. I agree that Dozier needs to be out of the leadoff spot. Put either Buxton or Granite up there, or both, and put whichever 4th outfielder who is not in the field at DH. Grossman should only play against lefties at this point.
  2. Just looked at MLBTR's free agent power rankings from last month, and they have JD Martinez at #2 and even mentioned the possibility of a 6 year deal. I doubt that with the way teams are going away from those long deals. Unfortunately, I'm guessing the likelihood of the Twins signing one of the top free agents is pretty low.
  3. Nick Gordon has gone into a little slide, bringing his season OPS to .798, and this is largely due to a rough July hitting just .217. He's also got a .188 batting average against lefties on the year. Not a good sign.
  4. I'm probably (almost definitely) a homer on this, but the Twins got screwed for about the 5th game in a row by the home plate ump. His called strikeout on Kepler, instead of a walk to load the bases, was probably the play of the game.
  5. JD Martinez for 4 years $80M is my ideal player to fill the DH spot next year. The offense has been a real disappointment this year, and a power threat needs to be added.
  6. Kohl Stewart should be a given. He's got a 2.99 career ERA, and even in his bad current year, he's got a 3.86 ERA in AA as a 22 year old. With his stuff and previous prospect status, he would almost surely get taken.
  7. I would have to think the Yankees feel pretty good about this trade, giving up 2 injured guys.
  8. Kepler is easily the better defender at this point, based on every stat I've looked at, in addition to just watching them. Plus, Kepler has about 1 less season of MLB experience, and they're putting up similar stats. I'm not a hater on Rosario by any means, I'm just really high on Kepler.
  9. I think you're the only person who would take Rosario over Kepler. Kepler's extreme struggles against lefties are confusing, but he's still got more upside than Rosario, and he is already a better player anyway.
  10. It's time to hit Buxton leadoff, or Granite if he stays up, and have those guys hit 1-2.
  11. Seems like a good trade. The Twins have a stockpile of AA and AAA pitchers who should hopefully get a shot maybe this season for some.
  12. Awful loss again. I'm less annoyed by the bullpen and more annoyed with the offense wasting so many opportunities and then calling it a night after 5 innings.
  13. Can you believe it was just 9 days ago that Cleveland finished a 2 series sequence where they were swept by Oakland and lost 2 of 3 to the Giants? That looks like a wake up call now.
  14. This bases loaded act is getting really old. Great job tonight by Eddie Rosario. He's really putting together a solid season.
  15. Detroit is 4th in the AL in runs. They had great games not chasing against Santana and Mejia, but Gibson shut them down for the most part by attacking the strike zone better than I have seen for a while. I don't think he deserved to be sent down, but having said that, I'm not too upset about it because it's Kyle Gibson.
  16. I'm very happy with the move. Ynoa has some potential, but he's so far away that I'm not concerned about it, and I really think Garcia can help stabilize the rotation.
  17. I looked back at the rankings today to see if Granite had enough data to qualify, but he doesn't yet. The interesting thing I saw was that Adrianza has been added, and he is the second slowest Twin listed. Slower than Kennys Vargas. This has to be a glitch.
  18. Also, did it annoy anyone else that Dick made the same mistake in all 3 games in saying Justin Upton was the lone Tigers All Star? Michael Fulmer made the team too. I'm surprised no one corrected him on this.
