  1. I don't think I've ever heard of a top 50 prospect, with minor league options remaining, and who has never played in AAA starting a season as a 4th outfielder. That seems like a poor development path.
  2. Why? They're prospects who need to play everyday, and the Twins don't have any available starting spots for them right now.
  3. So you'd rather just get rid of a guy who has a 104 OPS+ in his age 22 and 23 seasons? And in favor of who, Ryan Sweeney?
  4. An 11 over 6 upset possibility is Northern Iowa over Texas. Northern Iowa has been on a roll as of late, and they've already beaten North Carolina, Iowa State, and Wichita State twice this year.
  5. Do you mean just last year or this spring? Either way, Kepler isn't really a full time center fielder anyway. Plus, I'm sure he gets why Buxton and all of his talent and potential gets more of a shot to make the team.
  6. If you're talking about stealing a base, then I'd definitely give Hamilton the edge. Running a ball down in the gap, and I'd take Buxton's long strides.
  7. Most people seem to think Molitor can have a really positive influence on Buxton's base stealing going forward, so hopefully that's the case.
  8. I'm looking for Byron Buxton to lead the AL in steals at about 50. Oswaldo Arcia is going to hit 20 HRs, although I'm not sure where he's going to find playing time. Plouffe: 30 HRs and 100 RBIs.
  9. How is Nolasco getting 10 starts?
  10. Hamilton is a better base stealer, but Buxton's speeed is right there with him.
  11. I'm talking about elite speed. The only guy you listed who has elite speed is Billy Hamilton.
  12. The difference is Buxton and Gomez have elite speed and range.
  13. Andrew McCutchen is a good comp with the bat, but even then, Buxton has quite a bit more pure speed and athleticism than Cutch, which is why the Gomez comp works better in terms of pure athleticism.
  14. Aaron Hicks and Carlos Gomez were both in the middle of top 100 lists when they came up. Byron Buxton has been a top 2 prospect for three years now. There's a big difference between top 10-20 guys and guys in the middle of the list. Buxton's talent is on a whole different level than Hicks. Gomez probably had close to the same amount of athleticism, but Buxton is a more professional hitter now than Gomez was when he was coming up.
  15. I'd say the box score today jumped out. 1 for 2 with a double lined off the base of the wall and a walk is the type of game I'm looking for from Buxton.
  16. Twins lineup: Dozier Mauer Sano Plouffe Rosario Quentin Escobar Murphy Buxton Nolasco I'm glad the game is on TV today. Good lineup to watch, but I was hoping to see Park instead of Quentin.
  17. BTW, I just saw that Bjelica's got two nicknames listed on basketball-reference: Belly and Professor Big Shots. That's pretty cool.
  18. Dieng is guarding the other team's more perimeter oriented frontcourt player, so yes he is the PF right now. Maybe Belly is just adjusting to the speed of the NBA, but it's hard to expect a 27 year old to greatly improve enough defensively to be a starter (I think he could be a good bench guy though). He's kind of like Shabazz in that they lack an appropriate basketball IQ level to be good defenders.
  19. Depth is still an issue up front, as I'm losing faith in Belly. That's why I like Henry Ellenson in the draft. I think that Gorgui can work as a PF, although I know some worry about him trying to guard stretch 4's. I think a SF who can play PF in spots (especially when other teams go with a Durant, Carmelo, etc. at the 4) would be the ideal target. The Wolves have no depth on the wing besides Shabazz, and he is a big liability on defense.
  20. If Danny hits .100, I think he's still making the team. Without injury, Kepler has about a 1% chance to make the team. There's no point in having him up if he doesn't have a regular spot to play.
  21. Ok that's fair, but when a player is 31 years old and hasn't done much in his career, it's hard to be optimistic that what you're watching is anything new, and that he'll probably just return to the mediocre production that we've seen in his career so far.
  22. What's with all of this irrational love for Ryan Sweeney? He has a MLB OPS of .713 and minor league OPS of .765. Arcia's MLB OPS is .741 and his minor league OPS is .875. He had more HRs last year than Ryan Sweeney has ever hit in any season, and he was dealing with an injury.
  23. If Buxton doesn't make the team, Santana is probably the opening day CFer and Rosario is his backup. There's about .1% chance Danny doesn't make the team. Sweeney has 23 HRs in over 2,200 major league plate appearances, so I'm not sure what pop you're talking about.
  24. Just for the record, Neftali Feliz won the ROY in 2010, with 40 saves, a 2.73 ERA and 9.2 K/9. Hopefully Alex Meyer can put up those types of ERA and strikeout numbers as a reliever.
  25. Sano's got a much better approach at the plate than Puig and probably even Stanton. I love the confidence that Sano has in himself. Triple Crown this year!
