  1. Are we watching the same guy? I remember quite a few potential double plays has Dozier lobbed the ball over to first when a strong throw would've been an out. I'm not saying he's a bad overall defender at 2B, just that his arm isn't strong enough to play on the left side. Can you imagine a play where Dozier has to field a ball going to his right and has to throw from foul territory? The throw might get to the first basemen, but I can all but guarantee you it's not going to be on a line.
  2. Have you seen Brian throw? I think he would be pretty bad defensively at 3B.
  3. Really? He's made several top 100 lists the last couple of years. It'll be years before the Twins, or any team, considers waiving Polanco.
  4. My plan would be for Polanco to open the season at SS. No, his defense is not at the level that you'd want, but his offensive upside makes up for a lot of that. Plus, if he's not the starting SS, I don't think Eduardo Escobar is enough of a defensive upgrade to justify putting Polanco in a utility role.
  5. You said it perfectly. Bruce Bochy got cute and lost the game and their season (the pitchers could have just done their job too, but still).
  6. Wasn't 92-96 always the scouting report on Berrios? That's what I remembered and that's what we saw with the Twins, hitting 97 on occasion.
  7. 2.7 BB/9 for Maddux compared to 3.2 BB/9 for Stewart. Stewart's was quite a bit higher this year at 3.9 though which isn't a great sign.
  8. Great, one of the top 4 guys in the draft features a high 80's sinker. I think I'll pass.
  9. I thought me liking your post was good enough to not have to include a or a /s in my reply. I just wanted to note that it is possible to have a good MLB career with poor minor league SO numbers, since quite a few people are off the Stewart bandwagon, which is pretty understandable. The 2.84 career ERA and his reported stuff is enough for me to still have high hopes for him though.
  10. Well if Stewart isn't even as good as Greg Maddux, then they might as well just cut him now. And just for fun, Stewart has a better ERA.
  11. I enjoy listening to his baseball slang. I can't be the only one.
  12. Sure, I like those guys, but they provide something different. Olney has stats and insights on players. Klaw is from the scouting/analytical side. Isn't Mendoza supposed to be from the former player angle? It just seems like she's in the role of a fan in the booth. Hopefully that doesn't come off too harsh. It's not really a big deal to me, but I'd rather listen to Dallas Braden.
  13. Jessica Mendoza is an analyst though. I'd rather hear the opinion of an ex-MLB player than an ex-softball player.
  14. Yeah the fielding side for Villar would be the main area for concern. Offensively, he strikes out a lot, but draws a lot of walks too, and maybe he's just now developing his power as he matures. I don't know if the fit on the Twins would be right, but the idea of acquiring his offensive skill set sure is intriguing.
  15. Now that Arcia is ready, Villar is an interesting trade candidate. He's coming off a great season of .285/.369/.457 (.826) with 19 HRs and 62! SBs, so it's going to take a lot to get him I would think. I'd assume the Brewers would want pitching back, so I don't think Polanco would be enough alone. Maybe a package including Kohl Stewart (by rule, he has to be included in every prospect trade) would work.
  16. Well Luis Arraez can't field and Vielma can't hit. Lamonte Wade looks like he's a player who has a complete game that you can envision translating into success in the MLB.
  17. There's no way Turner should be in the top 10, but I'm also really surprised he's not in the top 50 either.
  18. Yeah I sure hope so. If he does get down to that range of strikeouts, he will put up monster numbers.
  19. Ramos just tore his ACL, so that's not happening. Also, you just said that you saw into the future and the Twins aren't winning in 2017, so they should trade Santana, yet now you advocate for signing a 30+ year old catcher or outfielder to a big contract? Those two ideas don't mix too well. And just for the record, Ian Desmond had a .782 OPS this year. He started out great, but was pretty bad in the second half.
  20. I just saw a new Statcast stat on MLB Now. It's called percentage of "Barrels" allowed, and not surprisingly, two Twins top the list: Tyler Duffey and Hector Santiago at 6.7% and 6.2%. 3rd place was at 5.6%. Just another stat to show us how bad the pitching was this year.
  21. Chopper: Is Chih-Wei Hu a potential #3? Or too optimistic? Eric Longenhagen: That might be a little aggressive but how many 70-grade splitters have you seen? That pitch is insane.
  22. Definitely agree with the Dozier pick. He became a more complete hitter who can now use the whole field when he needs to.
  23. The guy that I'm most looking forward to seeing is Lewis Thorpe. Hopefully he can put together a nice recovery year next year and put his career back on track. Also, how is he still only 20 years old? It seems like he's been around forever.
  24. Yeah I'm not sure I can get behind Brusdar Graterol even making the top 50, and especially not the top 25. Reports of 89-92 doesn't really produce a ton of excitement for me either. I'd like to wait until he has some actual production before ranking him this high.
