  1. If only Correia could re-invent himself as an underdog. I think the bang for the buck with him has been spot on.
  2. The wheels are turning. Deadwood must be trimmed to keep the organism in a state of health.
  3. A guy that can win more or less as many games as he loses, get in the vicinity of 200 IP, and keep his ERA under 5, is acceptable, this coming from a fan who saw Terry Felton being declared "untouchable" by Calvin Griffith. The Twins of the 60's were pitching rich, otherwise, pretty much never.
  4. Dick and Roy mentioned it on the air tonite.
  5. Thanks Kwak - this explains it better than his performance.
  6. Yeah he ain't Greg Maddux. But he make an MLB paltry 5 mil a season, and is capable of a quality start. i've always sensed an inordinate amount of bile spewed his way, when he is payed for and fills his role to a T. illuminate me. if anyone deserves the business it is Nolasco.
  7. Doubles are my favorite hit: they drive in runs and keep rallies going. They are usually well hit to boot. I am happy that the Twins have 2 of the AL's top 10 doubles hitters for 2014 in Plouffe and Escobar. Suzuki is next at 35th, then Mauer at 41, though the actual numbers are: 4. Plouffe: 25 10. Escobar: 23 35. Suzuki: 18 41, Mauer: 17 Of course Cabrera leads the way with 34. Keep it going boys. Under appreciated stat, doubles.
  8. How much did the Yankees pay for him?
  9. It's not just age but experience.
  10. I like that you point out some pretty good Twins prospects that were signed in the same year as the big money kids. Very well-done article.
  11. Harsh for a guy hitting .254, 4 HR 31 RBI. He could DH for the Twins.
  12. Didn't know Gordon was doing so well - that is most EXCELLENT news.
  13. I share iTwins sentiment that if this explains why Nolasco has been awful, it is good news, regardless of the how the Twins handled it. The medical staff should have the final say on these matters, not the manager.
  14. By doing what they are doing - drafting and developing, signing free-agents.
  15. I'm all for trading veterans who have good value, but only if their replacement in the minors is ready to go. Pinto looks about as ready for full time major league catcher duty as Hicks does for center field. I'd listen on Dozier because you have guys like Polanco and Rosario that could perhaps step in and contribute. I know some people see a closer as a luxury for a losing team, but there is nothing more deflating than letting close games get away in the 9th. I'd keep Perkins. You need to start building a culture of winning at some point, and trading ALL your good players isn't gonna do it.
  16. Hard not to get excited about the state of the organization. C'mon trickle up!
  17. Berrios is our highest ranked prospect who is looking great this season. It's nice to have someone killing it.
  18. Could you elaborate on this please? I am intrigued.
  19. More like Jorge Hermano Ruthia
  20. One can only hope that some anemic looking 14 year old kid from the DR has a huge growth spurt this year and suddenly hits 95 on the gun as a 15 year old, and can hit baseballs 500 feet. The Yankees will wail and gnash their teeth.
  21. 200K is a tidy nest egg for an 18 year old.
  22. Looks like Bert is getting ready to spin off a curveball.
  23. Recent history excepted, the Twins always historically were a good hitting mediocre pitching organization. Glad to see good pitching rise to the top. Seems like a sustainable strategy for success.
  24. Sorry - this is what happens when you log on to Twins Daily after a night at the boozer. I'm not a Mauer hater, and if he is still post-concussion strapped, I'm sorry for him, but I remember Mientkiewicz being criticized for his power numbers, in spite of outrageous gold glove defense, so I do feel given what he is paid, his numbers are waaaaay short, recent surge included. Yeah, raindog, you are 100% right.
  25. Here how Suzuki becomes expendible: move Mauer back to catcher - frankly, his offensive numbers at 1st are below pathetic. At least he can be elite behind the plate.
