  1. Tanaka doesn't throw hard. Saw one at 91, the rest around 88 fastballs, but he threw alot of breaking stuff down to 73 that I saw. He's got a nice change, and one breaking ball drops alot. He bounced some in the dirt. He'll be tough for a catcher.
  2. I call him the luckiest man in the world. 39 games worth of hitting a pitch in a 5" circle made him 2.3 million. LMITW. Nobody throws it there anymore, so he is just filler. I wanted him to be the first move this off season, but he's here on the Hope Ticket still. But there is zero hope from me for him.
  3. Thielbar pitched 2 innings in the minor league game and excelled. No hits, and 4 k's as I remember. Florimon had 3 ab's and no luck, 2 k's. Someone with the initials HH mentioned to Gardy he should put Mauer in the leadoff position or he'll never get pitched to with Willingham behind him. His response was "everybody's got a lineup for me".
  4. Gibson won that competition, so good for him. Deduno never was in it. We'll need long relief this year and that's where he should help til we need him in the rotation.
  5. Trevor, just watch, Pelfrey will be one of our best pitchers this season if not the best.
  6. Just tell the parking guy you're going to the minors and he should let you in for free. They do for some of us.
  7. Yes, that guy stands down the road, 6 mile, towards Daniels.
  8. Sure, if you can find me. I'll be around there tommorrow but not going to the game. I'll probably watch bp and head to the minors. Where should I look for you?
  9. You know what the best part of being here is? There's at least 2 and some days 3 free games to watch right here at Hammond every day! The last 3 days up to today we all got to see Correia, Hughes and Pelfrey pitch around 6 innings. Today it was Alex Meyer. Plus the rookie team played Gardy's kids team, Stout. Cheapest entertainment in Florida! Oh, I might ad Parmelee had 2 nice doubles today.
  10. 7 k's now, and 3A LMITW leads in LOB with 3.
  11. It doesn't look like any help is coming so we go with what we've got. First thing I'd do is put Mauer in the leadoff spot. Batting 3rd with Willingham doing squat, Joe would walk 100 times this year. Put him in the leadoff, taking pressure off Hicks. Leadoff man gets on to start the game 1 out of 3 games. Win, win.
  12. We asked Chad Allen yesterday why Rosario wasn't here working out. He stated that it's against the rules when suspended. So we mentioned A Rod was going to, and he said the Yankees wouldn't of allowed it because of the rules. I think he may be wrong though. Anyone know for sure the rules?
  13. You most likely stepped on my foot.
  14. Wow, the Luckiest Man In the World just left the bases loaded.
  15. LOL, don't worry, I kept TD out of it.
  16. Phil Hughes threw 6 innings and about 75 pitches this afternoon. Only 1 run I believe. I was back and forth, watching Hunter Harvey throw on the other diamond.
  17. Great points. It is a process and alot of learning involved. The Twins do, it seems, a great job in guiding and helping these guys along. There's going on that most of us don't see or know about. These guys grow up here, at least many of them. Buxton has everything going for him baseball wise. He's certainly a fun player to watch and who's to say just how good he could or can be. I've seen his baby, just a little thing. I know if it was me, my head would be spinning just trying to figure out what to do here, what to do there. Hopefully the organization helps these guys along.
  18. Amen to that. Buxton may never pan out to expectations. He hasn't shown anything much this spring, he's just one of many guys down here playing. The one that fans expect something from, but he has yet to show anything. Oh, he has a new truck, knocked up the girlfriend and has a baby, and a ton of money. The money effects kids in strange ways sometimes. I hope he gets his head back into baseball.
  19. It could be later but there won't be any trading now for anyone in the rotation, that'd be crazy. The rotation is the best thing going on this team now. But if we can't score runs, might as well trade them all in July.
  20. I asked Anderson today about a possible Correia trade and he couldn't believe it. "Where'd ya hear that?". No, he's not being traded.
  21. So who would I look for Stringer? We probably bumped into each other.
  22. The wind was howling yesterday, probably a steady 35 mph with gusts over 40, but Kubel launched a bunch of balls clean out of the park in bp yesterday. Gardy threatened to put him on the bus tommorrow if he kept loosing balls. Kubel said he was trying to go to left!
  23. Meyer may start in NB this year. I mentioned to Gene Glynn the other day how his starting rotation will be better than last years Twins rotation.
  24. I doubt very much if Correia or any of the starting rotation would be traded. May could be, but he really had a bad last inning, and didn't get thru it. He was pretty upset when he walked off the field. Correia really looked good on a very windy and dusty day. I like how he just looks cool all the time, nothing seems to get him upset, but one fastball he threw to low. First time I've seen any emotion from him.
  25. I'm tired of 90 loss seasons, but this will be another one. I can see 65 wins. But that's not on Florimon, he's only 1/9th of the offense, and this offense is in really bad shape.
