  1. Just sprinkles or light drizzle the last 1 1/2 hours, so they could of played. Called it pretty quick today.
  2. It started raining around 12:15, a real nice light rain. About 1 it really poured with alot of wind, thunder and lightning. Last night news said this would hit around 5, so we got it early. And now it's back down to a light rain. With the Cards in town for what's always one of the best draws of the spring, I'd imagine attendance to be around 8000 so they will really try to get this in. At best, right now, I'd say at least 2 hours if it quits completely.
  3. I think the Twins are really hoping Hicks can take cf and run with it. If so, Mastro as a bench player. Alex P really isn't much needed in my opinion. And thus far, I'd give Worley the 5th spot. He came in with a different attitude, and in much better shape. Never saw a smile last year, he wasn't happy being here, but that's done a 180 this year. He could be the surprise of the season.
  4. Thrylos pretty much summed it up. I might add that you can get the Twins roster for a buck by the batting cages under Hammond. Today being the 1st real workout for the minors and I didn't go. But other years you could just get the roster sheet from the minors office. Since that area is all under construction I'm not sure where you'd get it, but it's got to be down there somewhere. And the roster changes alot as players are sent down but they keep it up to date. Have fun, maybe see you around.
  5. I may own that bat! At least one like it that tommorrow I'll attempt to have him sign.
  6. Interesting day again at the park today. The bus had left but alot of players still here practicing. As we've been afraid of, we were fenced out of an area today for the first time. It's getting like Boston around here. But some of the players did come over to sign autographs for fans, like Willingham, Kubel, Suzuki that I saw. Afterwards we heard there was to be a photo shoot in the stadium, so with nothing else to do a few friends and I went in to see what was up. They were set up down the right field line and quite a few fans in the stands. We sat up in the 2nd deck in the shade. But as it was about to start they asked us to join in the group. They needed more butts in the seats. It featured Joe Mauer. He sat in the stands as a fan, and we posed and acted out different things they wanted, like the wave, catching foul balls, taking photos of the field, etc. It was actually fun and funny! It's for the Strib and the photos will be shown around the end of the month promoting opening day for what I heard. LEN3 passed out water bottles to us as it was hot. Just something I'll have to watch for around opening of the season.
  7. Nice little 7 spot put up in the 9th to take a big lead against the O's!
  8. Just got home from the game, as my 90 old mother got pretty hot and called it quits. Maybe I should go back. On the Hicks play, he was going all the way, and looked like he had it made. The ball looked to me to roll under a folding chair the ball boy was on and Dozier kept on coming. The Toronto folks sitting next to us hadn't had a thing to cheer about yet when I left. Dozier is right on the ball. Even on the k he fouled off 2 two strike pitches before missing.
  9. I suppose. I'm not even sure who makes out the lineups for split squad games. I wonder if Gardy takes a bus trip or stays home today. Anyway, I know where I'll be, box seats, 14th row. Gonna get sunburned again today!
  10. It's spring training, put anyone there. Take a little pressure off Hicks. This is the time to tinker around, and Hicks has to be thinking "here we go again". Even batting 2nd would give him a little change that could help.
  11. I'd ask Gardy why he keeps putting Hicks in the leadoff spot.
  12. Why does Gardy insist on Hicks leading off? That just doesn't work, so give the kid a break. It's a beautiful day here for a ballgame though.
  13. 2006 hey? Well I'd guess I'm batting around .500 then.
  14. Yes that one is still open. It's about 6 times the size of the new one.
  15. The old one is still open. The new one is past the bar beyond the berm and the bullpen just on the curve to the new drink rails. I think the old one will go when the new construction starts in August.
  16. If you think the old one was tiny you should see the new one. It's little bitty. It's down past the right field foul pole and holds about 4 people. But you are correct, best to go when the team is away. I did have them get me the Miracle cards from last season. I saw cards today in the little bitty shop but didn't get close enough to see what they were. Also, if someone is coming down and wants to get baseballs signed, buy them at home. A regulation ball here costs 25 bucks, an AS ball 35.
  17. Sano they don't have! Waring may have a chance, since Plouffe is already on his face. Hopefully he'll surprise and have a decent season.
  18. Plouffe is the luckiest guy in the world. We should of picked up some competition for him in the off season.
  19. It was a beautiful day at the ballpark, and a good game. It was great to take the Sox fans out of it right off the bat, and it remained fairly quiet for them the rest of the way. Willingham did give them a run, take two steps in and it's a catch. And Vavra should of sent Mauer, he could of walked home, but held him up. Parmalee's hr was just a blast! Nearly went out of the park. A fun game, a new record for attendance and got to see AJ again. Life is good!
  20. I'm not here full time, just Jan til it warms up home. Who knows when that will be this year. I saw alot of foxes today at the game, but no red fox. Good game though! I may ride a bike over monday, and will be there tommorrow.
  21. This just bums me out. And Miguel has to feel terrible. It's just sad.
  22. Kepler had a nice day today, and played the entire game. He was 2-4, both line drives to right center, one a double. He did take a bad route on Hick's triple, but then charged and dove in to rob Colabello of a hit. Also made a nice catch near the stands. He's got a sweet swing. No comparison at all to Joe Benson.
  23. I'll be looking for a Red Fox tommorrow! You can get into Hammond any time, but game days 10am to enter the stadium. Practice should start around 9 tommorrow. Probably end around noon. Plenty of time to take the 10 minute drive to Jet Blue. Great game today! It was a treat to finally see a baseball game instead of fundamentals. Of course it ended as some in the past, with Parmalee swing thru a fastball. 3 K's and a walk for Buxton, whom I'm sure all in attendance wanted to see run. It was great so see so many pitchers throw in one game, and they had the radar gun working. Fun morning, for sure.
  24. Be sure to let us know when you'll be down, and maybe a place to look for you guys.
