  1. He pitched for the Twins a few weeks ago at a local high school. From what I was told, he'd be here now, but really doesn't want to go thru all the spring training drills, so is waiting. I expect him to sign just before camp breaks.
  2. That's correct, Dozier, Beresford and Vargas. And those aren't bad, you should see some of these autos!
  3. I don't see more than about 16 homers, but at least .330 average. Joe doesn't swing for the fences, and loves the opposite field. No sense messing with what's working. Just hope someone can drive him in this year.
  4. I go with the over for Sano. And for Hicks, if he gets sent down, he's the last one.
  5. Most will disagree with me, but my money is on Pelfrey to lead this rotation. I don't get all the whining about signing him at all. If there's no injuries Deduno takes the 5th spot. Worley or Diamond will come down with hangnails or something to hit the dl. I'm not sure how that works for waivers. Those wanting Gibson again, like last year will be disappointed. He could be trade bait, but I don't see anything special in him. I'd bring up Meyer before considering Gibson. Guess we'll find out sometime this summer.
  6. We had at least 8 tickets to the World Series. It was a total bummer they just couldn't put it away.
  7. He can glance between 9 and 11:30 or so. bp starts around 9:30. Meyer will be as far away as can be, down by the stadium or bullpen. He threw a bp today that just blew people's minds away. Fastball so fast you could barely see it if at all, and said after he was throwing at 85%. Since your friend can't be in 2 places at once, I'd have him check out Meyer to see if he's throwing that day, first off.
  8. Yesterday Gardy said he really like Hicks, couldn't send him down earlier because they had no one to replace him. Gene Glynn raved about Hicks and said he'll be a star. I tend to agree Hicks will be a good one for a long time.
  9. Well Happy Anniversary! This is a great site. I hope to meet you guys down here next month. To wet your whistles, a little tid bit from today. These guys work hard, but also have fun. Today on the half field the pitchers were doing drills. Everyday Eddie was showing how to cover 1st base, and tripped and took a header. It wasn't much later a body outline was there in the grass where he landed in chalk outline. Never a dull moment around here.
  10. In my opinion the best time is a week before they have to report til a week after, that is if you have 2 weeks. If only a week a few days before they have to report to start.
  11. Well that's good. My buddy watching him said he just stopped throwing and walked to the catcher and quit. He must of assumed an injury, but probably just not his day to throw pb. I'll watch what I put out there more closely!
  12. Diamond quit while doing soft toss before his bullpen today.
  13. The more I see of this kid, the more impressed I am! He, with health, could be something really special down the line. I hope the line isn't a long one.
  14. Buxton is in Ft Myers, but has yet to show up at the park. There's not alot of fans out here yet, which is surprising, but most that are here are looking for him. When he does show, and the word gets out, it'll be a crowd here. Buxton will draw wherever he goes, and it's far from all Minnesota fans.
  15. LEN3 showed up today. I haven't read his report, but Bartlett's been here quite awhile. He's been working hard and looking good. He eventually would like to coach, but is trying to make the team and I'd give him a really good shot at that. Jason knows what it takes and has kind of taken his own approach to get there. For instance yesterday he skipped bp and worked with the medicine ball and then took infield on the half field, fielding alot of ground balls. When he does bp he's hitting line drives. I give him the edge to be on the team.
  16. I should of mentioned in my earlier post that I doubt Mastro will be any competition this spring. He was limping around pretty bad for a part of this morning. His ankle is still giving him problems. I hate to see that after last year, but I think he'll be on limited action when Gardy gets here. He did take batting practice and shagged in the outfield and looked normal, but after earlier warm ups he was really hurting.
  17. Hicks took batting practice the last 2 days. They take 4 rounds of 5 swings. Yesterday his first three rounds were from the left side and the last the right. Today I only watched his first which again was from the left. I'd really like him to pick it up and start with the Twins. We need all the sticks we can get.
  18. Good luck to Terry and hoping to see him down here later this spring.
  19. That's great news. I wonder where he got his info, I'll have to ask. New guys here today also, Hughes, Guerrier, Swarzak, Colabello, Hicks, Bernier.
  20. Shapiro and Joe probably never gave it a thought, but you can bet the Twins thought about a possible move in that time. But like has been said, it wouldn't of made any difference, and why should it?
  21. They are really keeping it secret. I'm not sure they even know yet if it'll move or be here but there's no word out. I'm getting the sickening feeling it'll be at the Red Sox facility. I also heard that Hammond Stadium will be shut down in July for the 2nd phase of construction to start and the Miracle will be playing somewhere else.
  22. Wins and losses are the biggest things to me. I'm tired of watching losing baseball, it's gone on long enough and time for improvement. You list a bunch of stuff there that goes back to the word being thrown around alot this off season, "hope". That doesn't win games, we flat out need improvement in alot of areas or different players.
  23. I'm there now and will continue to be. Let me know and I'll meet you folks.
  24. I watched him throw a bullpen today. Pretty impressive for a young kid. His breaking ball has alot of movement. He'll be one to keep an eye on.
