  1. I initially thought Gardy used his head and put Mauer in the second spot but saw Willingham right behind him. The thing that really worries me this year is getting swept way to many times. I'll settle for a win in each series. So let's get a win and avoid the sweep. Wonder how many times we got swept last year?
  2. I talked with Dougie M and he said Bigley would get picked up by someone.
  3. Judging by the weather up north I'll be here another month! Trevor May pitched today against extended guys. Nothing going on tommorrow.
  4. He told me he's feeling fine and that it would be 2 weeks, a few days ago. Of course Max Kepler told me a week, last year, and then another week, etc and it dragged on for months.
  5. My folks had an extra lot next to the house, on a corner. That was the gathering place for kids all over the neighborhood to get together for football games in the fall and baseball games as soon as the snow was almost gone till football season. My dad would hit me fly balls high as he could, and we'd play long toss, longer every year as I grew up. Turned out I had a good strong arm. The neighbor behind the lot always told me if I could hit the roof of his garage with a batted ball he'd give me 50 cents. Finally I hit a bomb that went over the roof, and I was all excited about getting the half buck. But when we went to retrieve the ball, it was in the house, went right thru the bedroom window. I lost money on that deal.

  7. It didn't take long for Gardy to move Mauer out of the 2 hole. Now the walk count to 100 begins. It's good to see Colabello get the start, and with a couple of hits too!
  8. I'll be hoping for Colabello to have alot of success this year. And won't want to miss an Arcia at bat. Hicks having a solid year will be fun, and Pinto to grow on last years success. I'll be pulling for Dozier to set himself up for a long career. I hate to use the FO's word hope, but I hope for both Kubel and Bartlett to drink from the fountain of youth and contribute. I'd like to see a starter win 10 games this year. If one does, he should be a Cy Young contender.
  9. Gibson pitched today, going against Alex Meyer. Today Meyer came out on top. Kyle breezed thru the Rochester order the first 3 innings but got belted around in the 4th, giving up 5 runs. He did settle down for the 5th and 6th innings. It was a strange game that went 12 innings as more pitchers needed work. And now they'll all be gone from here but the Miracle and GCL.
  10. It was nice to meet Seth, Nick and Parker down here. Chitown and Thrylos too. Always nice to be able to put a face with a name. And for what I'd call the downest spring training here since the place opened, the guys always managed to find something interesting to write about. Nice work!
  11. And now thunder and lightning. It's a wonder what 3 Twins home runs will do.
  12. Yes, he should be, and hitting with Kepler behind him.
  13. Burton almost blows it. I'm really leary of Burton and Perkins both this year. We most likely won't have many games to save, and they aren't pitching very good.
  14. And now more rain! Maybe we can steal one before the rally.
  15. At least the kids can put up some runs. Walker is going to be a bright spot for Twins fans.
  16. Buxton said today that he would be back playing in two weeks. Looks like extended for a bit.
  17. It started raining here now, so hurry up and get 5 in the books. Hate to see a Hammer dinger wiped out.
  18. Diamond pitched to day in the minors. Early start because of rain threat, so I missed it and got there as the games were ending.
  19. Strong winds today, so maybe more long balls. The rain just might hold out though. 3 transport trucks are loading with only one more vehicle to get on board and they can head to Mpls. 7 vehicles to a rig. Long gone are the days of Escalades and Hummers for this crew.
  20. About all I could think was that he was looking to see who to bring on the road last night. Day before I have no clue. Maybe keeping an eye on Santana.
  21. At least Gardy moved Mauer up one notch, so he's not hitting in front of Willingham. And Hammers replacement didn't sulk and is in the minor league camp today, Parmelee. Also, TK had Mauer and 3 other coaches at first today giving lessons. The Mayors Cup is now the Commissioners Cup. Series tied at 2, but tommorrow should be rained out, so this is probably the only chance for the Twins to win some hardware til next spring.
  22. Strong winds blowing out toward left today, so maybe the Twins can increase their hr totals. And the Commissioners Cup is on the line today. Score, Twins, score!
  23. Morneau's absence here is loudly apparent, as he was a vocal, and entertaining guy on and off the field. Bartlett will bring some of that back, as most of these guys are pretty quiet. We need someone in the clubhouse to ease the mood a bit. Hopefully that's not his only asset, but that alone can't hurt.
  24. If they hit the 5th or 6th that's great improvement. At least this game is worth staying tuned.
  25. It would be nice to get this game in. Rains coming close by and may just miss us. Saturday looks bad for playing though. Maybe we do have hope, Ortiz is hitting about the same as Hammer.
