  1. I made it once to the Twin cities in 2 days but was shot for a couple days after. Chicago to Ft Myers in 2 is quite a haul. Back in college made it from the Cities to Ft Lauderdale in 26hours with a friend, but those days are long gone.
  2. It seems that we have a group of people in the front office who gather together and discuss all facets of each player at every position including backup. I think they come up with their plan. But they forget there's four other teams in the division.
  3. 1. This got me thinking. Thinking about opening my home, and it is exciting. It was in the 70's way up on the North Shore yesterday. And as our Master stated, anything can happen on a home opener. Last year my water lines were frozen and didn't thaw until May 22nd. So I called the local PO there and had my mail put on hold later this week. Called the shop and did the same. Packed a couple of boxes with alot more to pack. I'm getting pumped. A. Keys. I hope I locked the place and need keys to get in. B. House for sale open houses. This place I'm in here in Ft Myers is for sale. Got a call this morning saying it would be shown between 2 - 3 this afternoon. There goes the nap. Make the bed, have it looking as decent as possible while making a move and get out of here for an hour. C. Tornadoes. I'll be checking the weather forecast before I leave, as Ga, Tenn, Ky and Ill can always have a tornado drop in. D. Blue Ice sounds really nice right now, as the temps here are way to hot. E. Deer. The deer will be in the yard, munching on branches when I get back, and keeping the grass low. They do look in the windows but don't try to enter. 2. The Race. That's about what it seems like driving home. But I always lose it, as I quit driving at night. But the turtle has finished the journey every time so far.
  4. I'll pop in on the game once in a while, but can't miss the Masters. I'm a Phil fan, can't stand Tiger, but joined a league this year. You pick one player a week, and can only pick that player once for the year. You get whatever his earnings are. This week I picked Spieth. He's got to hold on, will the pressure get to him? I didn't join til after the first 6 weeks, so no chance, but it pays 12 places and could possibly inch my way up. 75 of us in all, at $50 a head so a nice payoff. Go Spieth!
  5. I too don't swallow all the hype on Buxton. Watching him 2 springs in a row, he hasn't shown me anything out of the ordinary. Time will tell, but at this point I don't see him being what's projected.
  6. Kepler started for the Miracle tonight and was taken out in the 6th.
  7. How about a long ball or 2 for out team.
  8. Sounds personal to me. Your dislike for Pelfery and his signing has been repeated many times. Personally, I'm in his corner, and hope he has a good start to this season.
  9. I should add that free tickets were given out at Wendy's for general admission, as they do every opening day. Box seats were purchased. That's the reason for the large attendance, as they never know how many free bees will show up.
  10. 9209 fans in attendance at Hammond Stadium for a new attendance record. One that will probably never be broken per fire rules. Slegers did a great job getting the first 10 in a row. Niko hit his homer out of the park, clearing everything in right field, and had a very good game. He made a nice pick of a hot smash in the 1st inning. Sha wa was sitting at 96, but topped out at 98. I saw one change in the 70's and several in the 80's but most were wild. He did get a k on one of them though.
  11. the Miracle won tonight with an all time Hammond Stadium attendance record of over 9100. They were lead by Sleger and Goodrum, 3-0.
  12. Off to the Miracle game.
  13. That's one way to get a run.
  14. Two walks for Poof! Why? Havent' they been reading my posts?
  15. Milone is wild, but at least wild down according to gameday.
  16. I'm looking forward to Pelfrey starting!
  17. Bobby Korecky now pitching and Hicks gets a single. Hard to believe Bobby's still playing. I remember one spring training he wasn't very good and just didn't look like he belonged. So I told him "Bobby, we'll see you in Minnesota this year:". He looked startled and said "Who, Me?" LOL, sure enough he did make it up.
  18. Gibson has held the Tigers hitless for 2 hours now!
  19. Terry Ryan "Ricky, I felt a little pain in your elbow late in your start yesterday." Ricky "I didn't feel a thing, but a little chilly." Terry "Great, head back to Mpls and have an MRI."
  20. I just felt a twinge in my elbow. Can I rest it and still get paid?
  21. In order to not set a modern day record today we need to score a run. A Vargas homer will take care of that. Gibson gives up a couple of unearned runs thanks to 2 errors, which should have been 3 by our third baseman, but that only keeps it interesting as we break the goose egg in the win column.
  22. I can't say I'm to surprised. It's gonna be a very long season, and that's being optimistic.
