Best in the division. Breakout last year and better this season. .274 ave, 345/440/750 with 22 hr's and 38 doubles. The bright spot for this team.

Have you been down here and watched. And over at the minors and watched? If not so, best to trust those that have. Boyer is a better pick than Tonkin or Burdi now. Tonkin isn't lighting it up in the minors and Burdi's still a ways away. Hicks belongs in the minors. Sheesh, a couple weeks ago posters wanted the best team to break camp. That's just what's happening and now more complaining.

Garrett Jones is now with the Yankees! He's hanging on. Really a nice guy, so glad he made it with another team in the bigs. Now trying to extend his career.

Against Tanaka. This could be another long afternoon. Best get used to it.

It wouldn't be very helpful being right next to him and getting hammered every night either. Meyer's got work to do yet before he's ready to come up.

I went to the Voice since I have to use Gameday which is just better than nothing. Looks like the Voice was a good choice.

So I take it Plloofe didn't come thru? I left for a bit.

Opening day lineup but for one. No Plouffe needed. He's got a week to come up with and injury.

Hicks is in center today with Roserio in left and Danny Ortiz in right. Alex Meyer started against the Orioles, first 2 pitches at 94 on the gun, but the second one was drilled right down the line over 1 st base for a double. A wild pitch and a single plated the run. He did strike out Parmelee on 3 pitches. He was still pitching when I left. It was about the 4th inning.

I'd start the season with Escobar at 3rd. And when he spells Santana or Dozier at their positions have Nunez at 3rd base.

I'll bet it didn't go real smoothly. They both aired laundry, and as Terry said, a healthy exchange. So now that that is out of the way we focus on the future. Pelf did a good job in relief today.

the game started at 10 so I got there late but did see a few innings. Tonkin got hit around pretty good. Max Kepler's got a sweet swing and I saw him get a line drive single and a line drive triple. Max must be bouncing between the two teams, (we want him, no we want him more) as he hit for both teams. Buxton tripled and hit a bloop single to right. Someone tried to steal 3rd on Burdi and was thrown out with Sano making the tag. Quite a few fans today, many family I assume watching. A nice morning for baseball.

I agree on Rosario. He showed up early and kind of took it easy, but stepped it up when camp opened. He's a confident kid and if he can stay off the weed in Rochester, I think he'll shine.
  14. Halsey Hall
Keep trying, you didn't get it straight yet.

What hasn't he done. Pelfrey this spring has thrown 13.2 innings with 7 k's, 2bb's, and an era of 1.32. Milone has thrown 14 innings with 8k's, 4 bb's and and era of 4.50. Has anyone paid attention out there?

I'm disappointed with Pelfrey to the pen. A healthy Pelfrey will have a good year somewhere. Milone gets 5 or 6 starts and the complaining begins. He'll be gone by June 1st. Not surprised by Hicks demotion though, but Gardy would have kept him.

I wouldn't be happy if I was him either. I'm not happy being me. I thought he'd be in the rotation. So trade him to a team that will use him, as I think he'll have a good season.

On cue, Duensing to the rescue.
  19. Halsey Hall
Get the hook! May's had it.
  20. Halsey Hall
Hughes and Pelfrey both in minor league games? I'll be sure to be there.
  21. Halsey Hall
Yes, and I'm pulling for him.

And now in the 3rd the Pirates have a hit of each variety so far this game.
  23. Halsey Hall
Followed by a double and a triple. Not looking good for Trevor.
  24. Halsey Hall
May needs a good start, but gives up a homer in the first.

The results this season could end up being the same, but there's certainly an attitude change here. Who knows why. Gardy being gone, Mollie saying the right things, the addition of new faces? It's hard to tell but a lot more enjoyable for us fans here. Yesterday was a short practice and the players here all seemed pleased with that. I had Ervin Santana sign a ball for me and told him I'd never seen anyone smile as much as he. He smiled. Mauer, Dozier, Suzuki, and even Perkins signed for the few fans that were there. As a team they've been much more cordial than in recent years. Nolasco has a much better attitude this year compared to last. So does Plouffe. I sense the guys are having some fun, and having fun can translate to being more relaxed and better results. Torii has added alot to the camp. Now to see if any of that helps in the win column.
