  1. Watching the WASN broadcast makes you appreciate Dickbert doesn't it?
  2. How about, Sanders? He's a member of the Senate Budget committee. It should not be that hard to provide specifics, if that is in fact something he said. Again, its not on his website so I'm not even sure that military cuts are something he has ever promised to do.
  3. You made a claim that Sanders was financing his social programs, at least partially, through military cuts. All people needed to do was look at his budget. I'm not a big military guy so the idea of poaching from the military to fund other stuff is intriguing to me, but in my short time searching the Internet I have not been able to find much evidence of this. At best Sanders seems vague on the exact impact on his budget. If you have a source in mind that does a more thorough look at how Sanders will move costs around within the government, I'd be curious to see it.
  4. If my math is right, $7.5b on a $35k car means 214k units. The factory is supposed to produce half a million cars/year? So, big as that is, they might need another one pretty soon.
  5. Here's a politico article article I found on google that says "Sanders has not proposed even a rough military spending figure, but he has said he would take “a hard look” at defense. When asked in last week’s Democratic debate to name an area of government he’d be willing to cut, Sanders cited the Pentagon: “I have the feeling you’re going to find a lot of cost overruns there and a lot of waste and duplicative activities,” he said." He might in fact cut military spending here and there but I dont' think he has any idea how big or small of an impact that would be on the budget.
  6. That reminds me of a recent conversation with my Mom in her car. She's a devout Catholic. The song "Take me to church" by Hozier comes on. "Oh I love this song" she says and turns it up. "Me too. Should I download it for you?" "Oh that would be wonderful" yada yada. And then I dropped the hammer on my own mother and I'm not gonna lie, it hurt, but I felt righteous. "You know he's talking about making gay man-love right?" "What!" "Yeah its all metaphorical. The singer's gay and he's talking about putting his @$^ in the other man's @$^@$" "Noooo!"
  7. As for Sanders' budget page on his campaign website, literally every item on his spending agenda would be paid for by raising a tax, creating a new tax, or eliminating a tax "loophole," as defined by him. https://berniesanders.com/issues/how-bernie-pays-for-his-proposals/
  8. I admit I'm cherry picking but when I googled Sanders policy on military cuts (there is no mention of military cuts on his campaign website's budget page), I came across this article. http://readersupportednews.org/opinion2/277-75/24583-bernie-sanders-doubles-down-on-f-35-support-days-after-runway-explosion Turns out Sanders, like everyone else in Congress, loved to talk about cutting spending right up until those cuts would affect his/her own district.
  9. That is a good day at the office. I had no idea about the Gigafactory, its pretty cool that the little guy might have the production advantage. But, if I bought, I would get an ulcer. TSLA sure is fun to follow though.
  10. Speak of the devil, TSLA up almost 24% since Mar 4. Early reports, sounds like the Model 3 is a hit. I've seen a few Teslas on the road (the roadster is an eye grabber). As I understand it, the Model 3 released yesterday has a $35k price tag with 215 mile range, I do think we are approaching the breakeven point where it might actually make sense to buy one, esp. with green/tax incentives. But, Tesla has so much ground to make up, they still haven't turned a profit. With so many automakers who dwarf Tesla, how many sales can there be in its future? Example- One rumor I found interesting was that as an alternative to imposing multi-billion dollar penalties on VW, some states were considering capping non-electric or hybrid sales as a compromise, thereby incentivizing VW to expand its green lineup. I would have to think if VW focused on battery powered vehicles they could undercut TSLA easily, no?
  11. One of the knocks on Bauer has been his endless tinkering with seemingly dozens of different pitches. Perhaps sending him to the pen was a prod to get him to focus on perfecting 2-3 pitches instead of 20.
  12. Under too. Reasoning is sorta pointless since most are taking over, but yeah the hitting looks very suspect.
  13. I googled and found the following relating to Ortiz and Vargas: http://www.news-press.com/story/sports/mlb/springtraining/2016/03/29/david-ortiz-kennys-vargas-remain-connected/81915852/ Ortiz has some opinions about how the Twins are handling the DH spot and the signing of BH Park, but doesn't say anything about Vargas' coaching except some vague references to "leaving him alone" and "letting him play." Vargas own comment jives with what the Twins told us last year when they demoted him- he wasn't hitting enough HRs. Presumably they aren't asking him to hit his HRs oppo. "I understand, I didn’t do my job last year in the major leagues,” Vargas said. “I didn’t hit many home runs. I have to figure it out. It’s all about helping the team winning and getting them to the playoffs and the World Series. “I have to figure it out and get my spot back.” Did Ortiz say anything about TK not mentioned here?
  14. Don't tell me you're one of those weirdos who puts mayo on his fries.
  15. I also ate a mollusk of some kind a while ago and it nearly killed me so, hard pass on the raw seafood, personally. Unless maybe its ground up and pattied and grilled to a crisp. Taters are great. Fried taters are even better. With ketchup and salt. Lots of salt.
  16. Currently listening to my favorite album of 2012 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jr6RChJqwo0
  17. I think Stephen King listed Chitown as inspiration for Annie Wilkes in the forward to Misery.
  18. I watched about 15 of Mauer's PAs this spring and I'll be damned if 13 of them weren't grounders to the right side. I really, really hope I just caught noisy, nonrepresentative sample of how he's hitting the ball these days..
  19. I can't believe what I'm reading lately. May was moved to the pen after posting the best peripherals in the rotation, outrage ensued. Duffey just posted the best peripherals in the rotation, and some folks want to... move him to the pen?
  20. Think about that. Sano worked the count full 93 times out of 335 PAs. More frequently than Bryce Harper or Joey Votto. A case could be made we had the most entertaining hitter in baseball last year.
  21. BB-Ref has splits here: http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/split.cgi?id=sanomi01&year=Career&t=b Sano worked 93 full counts, took 42 walks and struckout 30 times. Also hit 7 HRs. So 45% of the time he walked and 85% of the time a full count ended in a true outcome.
  22. Under too. They were a 69 win team by Pythagoras last year. They are swapping David Price, Alfredo Simon, and Yoenis Cespedes for Zimemrman, Pelfrey, and Upton. A wash at best. The bullpen looks a bit better, the lineup looks older. Not much farm to speak of. Pretty easy under IMO.
  23. Interview on FG with Duffey about his repertoire http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/tyler-duffey-on-his-more-than-two-pitch-repertoire/
