Remember when the season started and everyone said the Tigers would walk away with the division? Now Verlander's out with "shoulder soreness."

Does anyone think the Twins put an undue importance on lefthanded pitching? I wouldn't think a 30 year old with 540 innings of 4.45 ERA ball in AAA would be so hard to replace, regardless of what hand he uses.

BABIPs in 2006 and 2010 also skewed lower than normal in 2 out situations. It does seem to be getting worse now though. Any theories?

The Tigers are intentionally walking Melky Cabrera AND Joey Bautista to load the bases and face... Danny Valencia. edit: I guess Juan Francisco is PH-ing

I thought he might have gotten robbed on a few pitches too but checked brooksbaseball today - definitely wasn't the case.

why not 1000? Why any limitation at all? Is there a technical reason?

OK World Series favorites go I pick A's. They seem to have the same kind of mojo the BoSox had last year.

If anybody made it to that Hollywood Video on Franklin and Hennepin around 2005, there's a decent chance I rented you a video. I rented one to Walter Mondale's kid once, and the CEO of Dunn Bros (he rented Love Actually IIRC)

Yes, its somewhere around 50 I think. Why is there a quota at all?

I'm definitely gonna have to check brooksbaseball tomorrow for this one. May missed badly on some but I think he might have gotten robbed on others. inb4 "if you are wild you won't get borderline calls" yada yada

That Moss at-bat was brutal. Two looking strikes, then 4 foul balls, eventually working walk on 10 pitches

Poulson made his first appearance tonight, pitching the 8th for the E-town Twins. He walked the first batter he faced, then got a GIDP. The 3rd batter popped out. http://www.milb.com/milb/stats/stats.jsp?gid=2014_08_08_dnvrok_elirok_1&t=g_box&sid=milb
