  1. I know its a crackpot idea to offer Buxton for trade. God knows he wont struggle like other prospects or need to be optioned and recalled over a number of years before he sticks (if he sticks). He's on the Cedar Rapids-Mike Trout-MVP-HoF path after all. Unlike Bradley who is only batting .857 in AAA right now with elite defense and base running. Man what a bust. Seriously, if the Twins could fast forward through all that, why not package Buxton with a reliever and get a the same prospect back minus the heartbreak in return, PLUS a major prospect or two on top of that, who maybe fills an area of need (ie Catcher)?
  2. I am liking Hicks 3.0. That Forsythe ball in the sixth ( 5th?) looked like trouble but Hicks ran it down easily. Sure is nice to have a guy with wheels out there. His approach at the plate looks a lot less hesitant too.
  3. Want to see Emily Austen? Saturday is going to be hot and dry. Sunday is going to be hot and wet. Best choice: Sunday http://freebeacon.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/09/216854_177983458993020_1375060287_n.jpg
  4. Take Hunter's WAR, multiply by 1.60, that's 60% more. That part is right. The salary is off though.
  5. Bradley Jr. + Swihart? Too little? Too much?
  6. Fill in the blank Buxton = Bradley Jr + ______
  7. Any word on Bregman's teammate Chris Chinea? He's the LSU catcher, a junior. Leads the team in HRs (10), BA (.379), Slg (.592) and OPS (1.004).
  8. Watched this video of Bregman. Evidently LSU has a tradition where the hardest working player wears #8. Bregman wears #8.
  9. Souhan and Barreiro do the exact same thing: get bored, find a smoldering controversy, fan it back into blaze, get the rubes riled up for clicks / listeners. http://www.startribune.com/souhan-mauer-proves-worthy-of-big-salary-he-draws-from-twins/211705101/ Souhan has flip flopped before on Mauer's contract and I'm sure he'll flip flop again. Mauer's fans are always going to be divided on the contract so Souhan (and Barreiro) are going to keep going back to that well depending on how the wind blows. I feel defeated even commenting on it anymore.
  10. http://www.twinkietown.com/2015/5/15/8610901/souhan-torii-hunters-smile-could-take-joe-mauers-beard-in-a-fight
  11. Duen. Stick a fork in him.
  12. Brooks baseball might be what you're looking for
  13. 1. Target Field 2. Metrodome
  14. What's not to like about Attebery or Provus?
  15. Well he's batting 2nd today and has slotted in everywhere but 1, 3 and 9. I dont' necessarily object to what Molitor's doing, they are scoring runs, but it seems clear that he's moving guys around almost on a day to day basis. Except Mauer of course.
  16. I think Hunter just looks elegantly slow out there compared to Arcia or Hammer who both moved like monster trucks with 4 flat tires in slow motion. As others have said, the bar for good OF defense is very low.
  17. Sounds like the Twins got their hands full with Anibal. Or, Annabelle, as Gladden calls him.
  18. On May 9, after going 4/9 in the previous two games (where he batted 6th and 5th). Molitor seems to be moving guys into, out of, and around the lineup based on the previous day or two's performance.
  19. I'm sure I'm not the only who has tried to find stats on high schoolers so I'll just post what I've found so far. Rodgers: .366/.460/.756 with 8 HRs in first 26 games. Cameron: .490 BA with 8 home runs, 21 SBs as of May 5 Whitley: .424 OBP, 2 HR, 8 SBs in first 7 games Plummer (2014): .553/?/1.128 Plummer (2015): .500 BA, 2 HRs, first 14 games
  20. 4 days rest for a 4 run lead appearance. Economical!
  21. Next guy up. Tonkin, Graham, Pressly, whoever. Cross that bridge if you get to it. There's no rule stopping a non-closer collecting a save on the road. Its a trivial stat to begin with and "closer" is just a title synonymous with "best reliever." Think about how silly it is to keep your best guy on the bench in a tie game against the division leader because you're on the road and might have to let someone else collect or blow a save if you get the lead in the next inning. THAT would be hindsight.
  22. What's that? You want to compare two players' chances of MLB success based on minor league stats like age, BB%, K% and ISO? OK let me get my Javier calculator out.http://www.beyondtheboxscore.com/2014/7/15/5871621/mlb-prospects-k-bb-iso-javier-yearly Of 22 year olds at A+ within +/- .50 standard deviations of Walker in BB, K, and ISO, 1/40 turned into "productive" players (Chris Duncan). Of 21 year olds at A+ within +/- .50 standard deviations of Harrison in BB, K, and ISO, 4/15 turned into "productive" players (Rich Aurilia, Nate McLouth, Alejandro De Aza, Rod Myers) Winner: Harrison.
  23. Correa did get more games in last summer but he missed time due to injury too (cracked fibula). Buxton also returned to play fall ball. In all he played only about ~15 fewer games last year. From where I'm standing the main divergence in their development occurred this spring at AA. Buxton has obviously been doing well, but Correa went all Kris Bryant on that league.
