  1. You should have heard what he was eating a few days ago. Some bastardized form of Hamburger Helper IIRC.

  3. After the 2012 season I did a top prospect list based on the JAVIER projection system, which was based on the BB, K, and ISO z-scores of minor leaguers by age-level, going back 20 years or so. Sano basically broke the system as his ISO z-score for his 2012 season at New Britain put him almost 4 standard deviations above other players of the same age/level.
  4. Sano's batted ball profile is intriguing. In the minors, he hit nearly 2 fly balls per ground ball. In the majors, he's almost 1:1. Which may account for the higher BABIP but also portend that even more power would come if his profile falls back toward the 2:1 ratio he has had historically. Of course his HR/FB is due for regression too, but not a ton. He's at 31.6% for his MLB career which sounds high but he had a 22.7% HR/OFB ratio for his minor league career.
  5. Look: Right now, at 4:55 Eastern time, its a 45 minute drive to get to Tropicana park from Tampa. https://goo.gl/maps/Fg1fp
  6. The park doesn't pick up and move when the team makes the playoffs. They draw fine in local TV ratings. Much better than the Marlins. They have a fanbase.
  7. Vargas would be a great late-inning PH option right now.
  8. Even with a .400 BABIP Buxton's barely OPSing .600 since his recall. He's not ready folks.
  9. There are only 36 games left so I think if everyone stays on schedule it would be Gibson's turn. They do finish out the season 13 games in 13 days but would have one off day before the wild card game so Pelfrey could be an option too as his spot is after Gibson's.
  10. Not trying to be a douche but are you sure you're not thinking of Meyer?
  11. Cotts, Duensing, Milone, Thompson, O'Rourke, Fien, Pelfrey, Achter, Graham... the list goes on. They only have 5-6 guys they'll have to add to protect from the Rule 5. Hopefully the fact that TR travelled to Syracuse signals that he's at least considering adding him now, and wasn't just checking up on the farm or something.
  12. And there are 3 guys on the 15 day DL. I'd argue only two should force 40 man moves though: Hicks and Hughes, not Graham. But I am guessing that TR figures that he's protected Graham this far and doesn't want to lose him now. Its increasingly clear that this has nothing to do with Berrios' production or innings (or winning/losing games) and everything to do with protecting players.
  13. In fairness, outside of the Fiers no-hitter, the Astros pitchers have been struggling lately too. McCullers had a 0.1 IP, 6 run start last week for example.
  14. Astros are lined up Kazmir-Fiers-McCullers. Twins oppose with Gibson-Pelfrey-Santana. At least the Twins avoid Keuchel.
  15. They don't need to go to montreal, they have fans. Go to Google maps and pull up Tropicana field. It's at the spout of like three major bottlenecks. It's horribly inaccessible. They just have to pick a better spot in Tampa to play.

  17. IMO Arcia then Rosario are first in line. Kepler is third. For now he's an awesome depth piece with options that can be exercised in '16 and again in '17 (if I'm reading the Organization Chart page correctly). Things will happen over the next 2 years and it will be good to be able to pull someone like him up when they do.
  18. Yeah Sano's swing more resembles the second photo. Its more proof that you have to tailor approaches by batter IMO. Dozier and Sano use a toe tap and it works brilliantly. Kepler abandoned the toe tap in favor of a leg kick and the results speak for themselves. Its amazing how differently kids respond to different things.
  19. LOL. Even in that 2009 article the commenter was trying to nick name him.
  20. I counted 3 swings and misses on the changeup in that appearance. He sure had a feel for it that day. 3 solid pitches for a reliever is quite a luxury.
  21. Yeah, I would be surprised if he added Berrios now. Seems like he would have done it already if he was going to do it this year.
  22. Hughes' 2014 was an outlier. The Twins need to have a heart to heart with him this offseason and ask him to move to relief. I'd have a heart to heart with Nolasco too. His body does not seem up to the task of starting anymore. And even if it were, the results are spotty, at best. Tell him to relieve too. Duffey to Rochester staying stretched out in case of injury/ineffectiveness. Santana-May-Gibson-Berrios-Milone to start the year.
