  1. I want to believe that, but public pressure and budget availability leave me a bit worried. He has a 15 year track record of not making that move. I wouldn't worry about it too much. In fact, JR has proven incredibly adept at giving up absolutely nothing and getting something in return for it. Has any player he traded turned out to be a good acquisition for the receiving team? aj? hardy?
  2. and we wait for the dust to settle to see what our baseball guru will produce for us ,im guessing our rotation for 2013 moyer wakefield kevin correia diamond baker/gibson
  3. you hit that out of the park , perfectly said Except Punto's had 500 AB's in a season exactly ZERO times. He's hit 500 PA's only twice. In one of those years he put up a 290/352/373. Were you sad about not getting more time for Tony Batista that year? Or was it someone else you just had to have on the field to feel good? The following year he got to 500 PA's again and was pretty bad at the plate....and I'm still not sure who on that roster you were wanting to play instead. I promise you it's possible to be snarky and negative without telling lies. Although you might have to think a tad more, that's not the worst thing in the world. there is nothing wrong with little nicky , just someone whos name i wont say , decided punto was going to be what he wasnt ....a starter, nick is a very good sub , not a starter, imagine if harmon ,bert and rod played for gardenhire , none would be in the hof today, bert missed to many bats and anderson would limit him to 5-6 innings , harmon would be benched for not going the other way and rod would need to be more versitle and need more then 30 games a year on the bench so that jim nettles and jerry terrel could stay fresh
  4. nailed it
  5. you hit that out of the park , perfectly said
  6. Why? What do you have against him? He had 15 HR in his 80 games with the White Sox, I'm not prepared to call him no-hit just yet... and this is an improvement on what we have? and yes i absolutly hate his batting stance
  7. so you think youks value is similar to willinghams?
  8. floyd had his option picked up today ,so unless there trading him....
  9. Honestly, I've always felt that Gardy doesn't play backups enough. It was painful to watch Parmelee rot on the bench. Casilla could have played more in my opinion(It's ok Chief... Just a little more). I thnk Hughes and Burroughs were thrown away(maybe they should have been) with no playing time to prove themselves while Danny V. Meekly played 3B every day. I don't want the same lineup everyday. Even star players slump. Even .220 hitters get hot. You miss out on Descalso while you wait for Granderson to turn it around. Over the course of 162 games... You have a roster of 25. Use them all. if Revere is going through a tough stretch. It's Ok to play Mastro for a while. Competition is created in such ways. Its an eye of the beholder thing. I honestly feel that Gardy needs to use his bench more and in different ways but still think he's a good manager overall. there you admiting you have a problem is your 1st step to recovery ,( now as you hum the 3 blind mice song) always remember and never forget , the 3 stooges are not good at what they do , larry gardenhire was a good coach for tom kelly , twins win dispite larry being the manager curly , ryan was a good cross checking scout , he made 1 lucky trade in aj and has done nothing sence moe st pete , a media major (not even a real bean counter) did well selling broken kirby pucket bats , while running the souviner shop untill you realise where we could be with quality people steering the ship you will stay in denile ... good luck with your recovery I'm Ok with the Kool-Aid. It took me awhile but I realized over time that other people have their own opinions. When it comes to the Twins... I'm wrong frequently but I like trying to play along like others. Some people are simply more informed than others. Some take solid information and use it well and some take solid information and use it badly. How does the Twins Brass use solid information... I don't know!!! The majority of us... Not blessed with a ton of inside information... Some of us take second hand information and incomplete information or no information and strongly toss half baked accusations as if they were an actual part of the machinery (which they are not). They find a few uninformed like minds and find a few others who take a different route and find similiar conclusions who use a different kind of uninformed math to arrive at the same or similiar conclusion. Others... use second hand information and incomplete information or no information and come back with a very uninformed supportive viewpoint and can be quite forceful with those conclusions as well. This is my side of the coin and I'm happy to drink the Kool Aid. There are some like me... Who feel a lot better about things assuming that someone has a job to do and is attempting to do it regardless of weather it fits my opinion and my opinion is different than other opinions. I can be forceful in my opinions but they are as half baked as anyone else. I do try to assume that the people in charge are not sitting around playing "Angry Birds" on their IPAD all day. I try to assume that they have scouts and they get reports and they read and filter them. I try to assume that a network of coaches are working to improve the club from the ground up every day and each of the coaches are more qualified than 99.9% of us. I try to assume that they are working with actual information and a gameplan. I also assume that you are nowhere close to this level on the informational food chain but yet you seem to be more cocksure than most on this site and even more cocksure than the ones with the actual information. Everyone is different. You can't please everyone. I realize that in this life... Some are better than others and some are worse and that will be true with the Twins brass as well... I don't have enough inside information to conclude where exactly Ryan, Gardenhire, St. Peter, Smith, Anderson, Pohlad, Brunansky, Mauer and the medical staff rank on the better or worse scale but I assume that they are spending more time on it than any of us... Including you... . I am assuming that your LARRY,MOE AND CURLY attacks are based in nothing of substance. I am also assuming that nothing I have typed here will make a bit of difference in your mind since you are already completely cooked. 29 teams do not win the World Series Every Single Year. I'm not sure what I need to recover from? The team has some work to do let's see what happens! well you said you happily drink the kool-aide, ok many articles have stated ryan is old school ,he has said while speaking to sabr he doesnt understand all the stats and that at times has problems turning on his computer....he made 1 lucky trade and has lived on that for years.... its just time for new blood in this organisation ... i believe everyone is entitled to there opinion .as for my bad spellin and grammar , either delete my posts, dont read them or get over it go twins
  10. id slit my throat if i had to watch him play everyday.... yes i know many of you would provide the knife , but unless he rebounds we have the same no hit infielder and could add chavez or reynolds for the same money
  11. chavez or reynolds? each should be fairly cheap, as for chavez i would wonder if his power resurgence is from sitting next to a-riod or is real?
  12. or cranial rectal inversion surgery, to remove his head from his ...

  14. i was thinking of chavez , till i started to wonder if his power surge is a result of having alex riodrequez sitting next to him in the locker room, hes lefthhanded ,could platoon with plouffe if trevor struggles or could be a lefty for the lineup if justin is moved , but i still wonder why the power came back last year ?
  15. wow and you dont even have slama in the top 50 ? so much for stats huh...hermsen is rated high and heres a kid with a below average fastball no out pitch who the twins hope and believe can be a back of the rotation starter , maybe a decent #4 or 5 guy , and once again athony gets dissed
  16. hate the contract not the player .....only 5 people in all of baseball thought smokin joe mauer was going to be a 30 homer run kinda guy and that was the 3 stooges ,jipppy the owner and bill smith....as i pointed out way back when even bert campanaras hit 22 homers 1 year , that dont make him a power hitter ....now joe is a dam fine catcher he hits has a great obp and a very high risp and once larry gardenhire decides he dont need 3 catchers or august rolls around and larrys kicking rocks walking down the road wondering if he can find another job , then joe should get more time behind the plate
  17. better to make a run at josh johnson, cheaper throws harder, younger , then theres shields....tampas looking to move him let get curly on the phone and see what they will take for him, these 2 would make a nice front of the rotation for any club...
  18. His draft status means that he's thought of more highly than those other guys. When healthy, he can be very good. He will likely get the opportunity to start which (in my opinion) is more valuable than relieving. Also, it's hard to make much of anything that happens in 15-20 games (especially remember that a couple of those relievers will move to starters next spring and we'll learn a lot more about them then). so because he was drafted higher , he is better? wonder if mike piazza thinks that way, also a reliever in college and we are going to transorm him here?why not just draft say gausman or zimmerman?
  19. True. Marcum does have two arms, two legs, and is capable of throwing a baseball from a mound. Past that, there aren't many similarities between him and the crap the Twins rolled out in the #2-5 spots in the rotation.[/only in 1 of his 7 year career, has he pitched more then 200 innings, he also has had elbow problems this past season ..... the pitcher we need is annibal sanchez and maybe adding chavez at 3b if we end up trading willingham or morneau
  20. what would it take to get ian kennedy from arizon? supposedly they are thinking of moving him and an outfielder, add in shields and we have the makings of a pretty good staff
  21. so does the big name pitcher mean a good pitcher, or a pitcher with a very long name ? tricky curly tricky
  22. . The argument is, if he was worth bringing up they would have? Why? Because the Twins have shown themselves to be great judges of pitching talent lately? 88 mph fastball for a reliever is kind of slow. Great at deception in the minors. He will get a shot at ST. If a club wants him for 50K it will because they looked at the slash line, not the scouting reports. and how hard does pat neshack throw?jaime moyer hung around how long throwing how hard , curly ryan has said he is open to bringing back 3 time sore armed pavano and his 86 mph fastball?
  23. and your thoughts on the 2004 draft? 5 first rounders
  24. yes even the knuckleballing fiedel castro ,but my point was if the twins wanted to make a big splash why didnt they sign players before the imposed salary cap? you cant tell me cespedes wouldnt look good in right field? are we even looking at the japenees kid or just watching tapes? my other point was ryan was in charge, but bill smith did the day to day things and when there was a decision on a player or transaction then ryan would give his stamp of approval.....so infact everything comes back to ryan even though bill had the title of g.m.
  25. texas is in a must win now situation, id be happy with elvis and olt , for joe and harrison
