  1. I know this is a response to a previous post, but if he continues to hit like this there is no chance he spends all of next year in the minors. I don't think they go into the start of next season with Dozier, Polanco and Gordon in the organization, unless they want to move Sano off 3b, which I doubt. Depending on how the deadline shakes out, there is even a small chance he might debut late this year.
  2. I didn't realize this until I looked, but Bradley has been a very good reliever for the D-Backs this year. But I like the concept, especially with arms. But that is usually more a sell move to acquire someone like that. A team will unload them but only if they are acquiring immediate help.
  3. I know it's too bad this was against Cleveland, but do people really think that much differently about the team now than they did early last week? They'll likely bounce back and take 2 or (probably) 3 from the Sox, and be close to where they were before. The young bats are always going to be a roller coaster, enjoy the ride this year!
  4. You sure? That seems a little light for the Twins.
  5. It means he is a marginal pitcher, maybe a backend guy or more likely a middle reliever. Which will make this trade worth a lot less consternation than it has received.
  6. Actually, I hadn't looked at his numbers in a while, I didn't realize Polanco had dropped so much. He certainly has value, but perhaps not as much as I thought.
  7. I would think Polanco has better value at the moment but I would bet on Gordon being better long term, and the team has an acceptable bridge to the middle of next season.
  8. I think the buy/sell options are too narrow. I think there is a chance they do both. They could move a position player or two for a longer term option at pitcher, and then potentially add a couple of cheap backend starters or bullpen arms if they are hanging in as fringe contenders through July (which I expect). My personal plan would be to shop Polanco for a starter either up to the deadline (or offseason), extend Dozier, bridge SS with Escobar/Adrianza until Gordon is ready. I would also look to move Rosario or Grossman if they can get controllable starters back (or package with Polanco).
  9. Sounds about right to me. Combine that with low salary and a little upside and he has value. I'm not expecting an ace here, but better than a #5, and someone with a little control.
  10. I would give up Mejia for Rosario, yes. Rosario is worth more than Mejia.
  11. That's way underrating Rosario. He's not a nothing. I am assuming that a team would be comfortable putting him in cf, which may be an incorrect assumption, but I don't think so. He's 25 and still has multiple cheap seasons ahead of him.
  12. I think you might underrate their view of Leach. I suspect they really wanted him and don't think he would have made it to the 3rd round.
  13. I disagree, even before last night. He can play CF which gives him more value than he provides the Twins with Buxton on the roster. They won't get an ace, but could get a controllable 3-4 type, someone between Berrios and Mejia. It would only happen in the offseason.
  14. Would people here be comfortable with Grossman entering next season as the mostly everyday lf? I could see the Twins trading Rosario for pitching, then follow up by signing a 4th of type to play off Grossman.
  15. It is very helpful to differentiate between stupid and lazy. I don't think the vast, vast majority of people are too stupid to understand. But these comments clearly show an intellectual laziness with how the draft works. It is certainly fair to criticize the 1-1 pick, but if the Twins spend their draft pool (and they will) it is so, so lazy to call them cheap. It really is not the responsibility of the Twins to continually explain this to people. Especially if the host, as I suspect, doesn't want to let the truth get in the way of a continual criticism. EDIT: To clarify, not the comments I directly quoted, but the quotes you were quoting originally.
  16. I think this is the right way to look at it. They worked the pool well and got several good picks up and down the draft (with perhaps a few more to follow). But if they missed significantly on 1-1 it won't really matter.
  17. Those guys will replace Belisle and Breslow when the Twins finally cut bait. Should be yesterday. But I'd give Pressly another run before all of them.
  18. That's the right kind of senior pick.
  19. I'm a hopeless optimist, but I suspect they get close this year.
  20. And I would guess whatever is left is likely to go to 11-1, maybe one or two other guys will get a couple hundred k.
  21. So you don't think they're going to spend the max allotted to the team? Should we figure out a friendly wager on the board?
  22. He was certainly decent last year, I'm surprised he backed it up. But he certainly has earned a stay here.
  23. AA would be aggressive for Rooker, but I appreciate the thought process. I would think Hi A to close the season and do the wood adjustment. Hit AA running next spring.
  24. I'm not nearly that knowledgeable. Would guess hs arm.
  25. Taking some college seniors on the back end of the 10 rounds certainly allows them to go big on the 11-1. All night to cut the best deal.
