  1. That is a terrible way to look at it. Why would anyone care how Perkins pitched three years ago when thinking of trading for him now? For the relevant season Perkins was better than Capps at ERA, WHIP, K/9, K/BB, HR/9 at this point. Many are not especially close.
  2. Are you forgetting so easily that he made an error that one time.
  3. They drafted Wimmers because of his grit?
  4. Methinks the availability of Bundy is vastly overblown.
  5. If the numbers fluctuate so much how serious can we take them or can we actually draw any sort of meaningful conclusion? Shouldn't parks stay constant from year to year? What would cause fluctuations? Cement? Stadium tweaks? El Nino? Global warming?
  6. Can we enact a rule of no more Bundy references?
  7. The only concern is the 40 man roster crunch in the offseason as prospects/free agents are potentially added, but that is minor at best.
  8. I don't buy the Twins operate like this. They prefer talent.
  9. I agree with all this. The Twins need to temper the excesses, but Ryan made clear in the Saturday interview that he appreciates a little edge. That is unquestionably a good thing.
  10. These strike me as quite different. Bauer had preparation and performance concerns. Sano has never been accused of this - in fact quite the opposite.
  11. I'll second this. It was a great interview and provided some organizational context. My thought is Ryan was probably the calm one, Molitor probably would have been even more strenuous in his response.
  12. I don't like citing Killerbrew, Thome, Ortiz as a defense if this action. Sano is a long way to being a hall of famer.
  13. Are people really this paranoid about this situation? How he can't wait to leave, his agent might be calling around, etc.
  14. I'm not sure of your math here. Cubs were over before they got Tseng. The Twins would have had to go over their budget to acquire him, not sure that is the best strategy. It remains to be seen if this is wiser long term strategy. Cubs will have a decent sized pool and won't be able to sign a guy above $250k, not sure if taking yourself out of next year is worth that.
  15. I'll grant you aggressive and creative, but remains to ve seen if they are effective. And I'm not sure Cubs were in a bigger hole when Epstein took over compared to the Twins and Ryan.
  16. I also think we're burying the lede here. The players he wants to trade are the same ones that are struggling right now, which will probably make a trade that much less likely (or satifying of a return).
  17. I thought the Erickson response was fascinating myself. He was under direct orders to do something he probably thought impossible and he got it done. I can see how that would be satisfying, especially for a GM who was on the job for less than two years.
  18. But the assets the Twins received are also far superior. Good trade for the Cubs. Good trade for the Twins.
  19. There is nothing wrong with winning if it is primarily guys who will be on the team next year or guys who are getting an extended look to see where they fit in. This is primarily the case and should be even more so once the trade deadline passes and some of the AAA guys come back up.
  20. I think there is nothing wrong with having him in the rotation to start the year. Could be a bridge to Meyer or May. Or he could take a step forward. Random pitchers click for a couple seasons from time to time with no real explanation.
  21. I would have no problem with a promotion. KLaw made the point that college guys are pretty wasted in Low A in general. But as stated by others he still can develop plenty and is youngish for a college guy.
  22. Probably good to temper the enthusiasm a little. He is a C+ guy and I want him to do something in AA before I get excited. His bb and k rates are not especially inspiring.
